301 redirect usage
-
I just wondering if using a lot of 301 redirects could hurt to my seo?
We have site which have a lot of content with such links:
title: This Is Title page
url: www.site.com/This-Is-Title-page.html and we use for each page 301 redirect to remove capital letters in url: www.site.com/this-is-title-page.html
Is this is good idea and not hurting to seo ?
Thanks in advance

That's correct - having both www.site.com and just site.com causes duplication issues.
You do not need to have redirects in place to solve this though - you can use a rel=canonical tag in order to specify which 'version' you wish search engines to use.
Here are a few posts that should help you:

Yes, there is other solution to avoid those redirections. I just wanted to be sure.
Also one thing regarding 301 redirection for root domain site.com redirect to www.site.com also not good idea? As we'll be loosing 5-10% of juice? In many webmaster forums it's advisable to use such redirection to avoid dublicates. So what would be best choice for that? Use or not to use ?

You will be losing around 5-10% of your link juice by using 301 redirects. 301 redirects really should be used for when content has been moved and not for aesthetically enhancing your URLs. You need to think whether of not it is worth losing up to 10% of link juice to just remove capital letters - is there not another solution?
Hope this helps!

As Matt Cutts stated in this video it will not hurt at all your 301 readirects. Not the amount of the redirects is important (if done correctly).
Instead, they don't like redirects of redirects (A - B, B- C, C-D and so on).
Be sure so to make the redirects from your .htaccess, update the canonical URLs (if you use 'em), your internal BL and that's it.
Cheers.

301 vs. keeping identical URL
Hey everybody! I have a question pertaining to our redesign. The situation is as follows: /drug-rehab/alcohol-withdrawal-los-angeles gets a decent amount of views on out website, and we would like it to be on our redesigned site. I was curious what impact, if any, I would see given the two scenarios below. 301 to /alcohol-withdrawal make the new page /drug-rehab/alcohol-withdrawal-los-angeles as well The second situation is that there are a serious of other pages which don't seem to be of drastic benefit, which I don't feel NEED to be on the website. For example: /post-acute-alcohol-withdrawal-treatment/drug-los-angeles /rehabs-resources/drug-abuse/sub-acute-alcohol-withdrawal etc It appears to me that the content on these pages is rather similar, and I feel like they don't really say anything special. Can I 301 them to the new page? Should I let them die in the black hat inferno they were made in? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

Will changing a site from https to normal http have any SEO impact if we do automatic redirects?
We currently have a site which uses https and want to change to normal http only (for reasons unrelated to SEO). We were planning to do this with a change in our server configuration (we use Nginx, and can automatically redirect https to http). Our site has been around for approx 1 year, so there are links floating around in the Internet which will still be using https. These will be automatically redirected to http. What will be the impact on our SEO? I understand that our webmaster tools account may need to change...

Redirecting to homepage ok?
I deleted a bunch of category pages (renamed mostly actually and thought they'd be auto redirected like my blog posts are but they weren't) so I used a plugin that reroutes any 404 page to the homepage. Is that the best thing to do in this situation? Google Webmasters says there are about 84 404-errors and this should get rid of those right? Is there anything SEO BAD about doing it this way?

Duplicate Page Content Should we 301 - Best Practices?
What would be the best way to avoid a Duplicate Page Content for these type of pages. Our website generates user friendly urls, for each page..
On-Page Optimization | | 365ToursSafaris
So it is the same exact page, just both versions of the url work.. Example: http://www.safari365.com/about-africa/wildebeest-migration http://www.safari365.com/wildebeest-migration I don't think adding code to the page will work because its the same page for the incorrect and correct versions of the page. I don't think i can use the URL parameter setting because the version with /about-africa/ is the correct (correct as it it follows the site navigation) I was thinking of using the htaccess to redirect to the correct version.. Will that work ? and does it follow best Practices ? any other suggestions that would work better ?0 -
Google found bad links delete them or 301 redirect?
we went into our google account and saw about 70 bad links that they found on our site. what's the best thing to do, seo-wise: should we go into the pages that have the bad links and delete them from the html code, or re-direct them in our htaccess script?

301 redirect (www.domain.com/index to www.domain.com)
Hello, Please let me know what are the exact right steps in order to get rid of the duplicate content issues related with: www.domain.com/index.html same as www.domain.com without creating an infinite loop. Do you have a step by step guide posted within seomoz including 301 redirect for non www to www for all urls and index.whatever to main domain name without going into a infinite loop ? btw how to you spot the loop ? is it obvious like never ending refresh of the home page ? thanks a lot !
