How to legally run an onsite competition from Facebook?
-
Hi Guys,
I am thinking about running a competition on my website in order to drive traffic to it, however the regulations that govern competitions around FB are convoluted to say the least. I am under the impression that I can advertise the competition on FB by direct them to an external site.
Does anyone have any experience with this and can guide me, so I dont burn a well established Social Profile with over 2,200 connections?
Thank you for any help you can give me.
Kind Regards,
Craig

Basically what Facebook says is you can’t run a contest on your page but you can use 3rd party aps to do it. You also can’t notify the winner via Facebook.
Here are a few sites that use 3rd party apps to conduct a “contest” that is legal with Facebook (I am sure there are more and free ones, just search around). Some of these, you can use “gateways” which makes it so users have to “like” you page before they see your content. Great for contests that giveaway prizes for users “liking” your page.

Its qute simply a FREE 3 page website, obviously as a start up agency we are looking to attract traffic and customers, so this is why we would be doing it.
Thanks,
Craig

Some of the important information from Facebook says you basically can't use FB to run the promotion, so no "your like enters you into the contest". There are several external companies that have a business model of using FB as part of promotions and will help you do that. I believe you can use FB to make people aware of your contest, but not as a means of entry.
There are several companies that have a business model of helping you run promotions that you might investigate. There are a lot of legal things to consider, such as age of entrants, if the nature of the product is permitted to be promoted, restrictions on promotions in different states/countries, etc

Craig, I don't have the answer to your question but if you can share more details about the exact nature of the competition, it would likely help others to respond.

Struggling with the principle of backlinks, all i can see for the competition is directories?
Hey everyone, I have been using the open site explorer to check the linking domains/inbound links of competition for window suppliers. I've read that directories generate pretty much no link juice, yet all i can find for pretty much all of the well ranking competition (other than few very major companies) is directory listings. This leaves me wondering whether just submiitting to 5-10 good relevant directories would help tip me above some of the competition... I've read quite a lot about generating quality backlinks but i still haven't got my head around how to actually do anything myself that would be potentially useful. All i've done so far is post to relevant high authority directories and a couple relevant forums. I have pretty much £0 budget but a decent amount of time and strong graphic design and animation skills so feel like i can put that to use but again would have no idea what to do even if i created something share worthy. I can't imagine succesfully contacting anyone and getting them to link back to me or share my content.. Thanks for any advice...

How to measure the competition for online store ?
Hello , first I'm sorry about the beginner's questions , I looking for niche to open online store and try to find niche that there is no bery high competition. something that I can compete in this niche . My main question is how to measure the competition for online store? I mean when I do research on main keywords for the niche store. I see the overview and the SERP Analysis ,which parameters I see as a hard competition? -lets say I take the average of "Linking RDs To Root Domain" , which numbers are ok and no very high ? -I check all the page rank and see the average of first page , how I can if average of 5-6-7 is ok or hard competition? -the sane question is Page Authority , is there is some range that I can see hard competition? If you have some articles that can help me to learn and understand that world , or some place to start there I will be happy Thank you , Mark

How do you run ranks now for clients that aren't in your local area now that Google customizes search results based on location?
How do you run ranks now for clients that aren't in your local area now that Google customizes search results based on location? What tool/service have you found that gives accurate rank results? To me it seems like there is no guaranteed global #1position any more, or is this the situation for only certain types of searches? Likewise how can anyone tool give a global accurate rank score?

How can competition outrank you if your site has better Domain/Page Authority, More links, and More Social sharing?
Say you have a site that has better Domain/page authority, more links, more social media sharing, and a lot more indexed pages (thanks to blogging) than the competition. Of course all of these metrics are based off of data from SEOMoz open site explorer tool which I am not sure if it produces accurate data. 1. Other than exact match domains or the age of a domain what would be other reasons why competition would outrank you? 2. Can anyone suggest other ways to help increase a sites domain/page authority besides creating more indexed pages, link building, etc..?

Is there a way to get the SEO campaign crawl to run from outside the US?
We are working on a international site that uses IP redirection. I am currently trying to crawl and monitor the Australian version of the site, however the pro-campaign crawler is running from the US and only giving me US data. Is there a way to tell the crawler to run through a local proxy so we can track international versions? Thanks!

How to tell where a competitor's Facebook Shares are coming from?
Is there a way to tell where a competitor's facebook shares and likes are coming from? How to also tell what ads they have running in Facebook and their spend? I am looking at OSE's data and its telling me a competitor has 8.5K Facebook shares and 1K facebook likes. I go to their facebook page and it has about 25 likes. This site should not have anywhere close to the facebook shares/likes its receiving so wondering where they are getting their boosted traffic from.
