Site disappeared from rankings at 5th of October
-
Hello,
I have a travel guide site at www.taylandgezirehberi.com
It is the most detailed site about Thailand in Turkish language. It has 300 hundred pages of unique content that I wrote from scratch.
Site was doing great at Google Turkey. I was at 2nd place for keyword "Tayland". Also I was in first 5 at almost every Tayland related keyword.
I survived Penguin really good, but at 5th of October Penguin data refresh my site got totally trashed. Now site doesn't appear at any keyword at all.
I suspect this maybe because of some link wheels that I bought about 8-9 months ago when I was inexperienced. Also I had 4-5 backlinks from my sites at other unique IP adresses.
I admit doing mistakes, but I think the punishment was really harsh for a unique content site. I sent a reconsideration request, but got the answer "No manual spam actions found."
I contacted the guy who did link wheel, had him removed some of the links. Also I used Disallow Tool and submitted some other spammy url's.
This deranking effected me really bad, do you have some other suggestions that might help?
Thanks a lot

Thanks for all answers.

Matt Cutts said that this is to be used if you, or another party, has ever undertaken poor link building techniques.
They do say only use it if you need to, but they aren't likely to penalise anyone for using it - they already know if you have bad links and have had a links warning.

Hi Kerem,
5th October was definitely Penguin #3 - see http://www.seomoz.org/google-algorithm-change. I'd follow the links on that page and understand EXACTLY what this Penguin update is - and move forward from there. You seem to have the right idea anyway. Good luck!

I would be very careful using the disavow tool. By using it, you're acknowledging to Google that you have bad links. I would use it as an absolute last resort.

Kerem - where you say "Also I used Disallow Tool and submitted some other spammy url's." do you mean you used the new Google Disavow tool? If so, be aware that Google said effects from this can take a number of weeks to be seen.
If this is the case, wait a while and just make sure that you aren't being penalized for anything else. For example, make sure your content isn't spread across the 'net by others who have plagiarised yours.

Contact my buddy Ryan Kent. His company specializes in link removal penalties

BTW, he's #1 on SEOMOZ and even I have sent him business. Tell him Cisco from Planet Marketing says hi!

remove bad links (via contacting webmasters and disavow - make sure you KNOW what links are low quality before removing)
-
continue writing unique, high quality content (about relevant topics that get searched and would ideally be shared)
-
build new high quality, relevant links (reach out to other sites that link to related content and give them a reason to link to you)
Follow those 3 and you should be golden.

Redirect and ranking issue
Hi there - was wondering whether someone might be able to help. For a period of a day and a half, all the traffic to our website's blog articles were mistakenly being redirected to our homepage. A number of these articles ranked in the top 5 in Google worldwide for their targeted keywords, so this was a considerable amount of organic traffic that was instantly being redirected. It was a strange site glitch and our web team rectified the error, but now all these articles have disappeared from Google rankings (not visible anywhere in the first five pages). I'm presuming this must be linked to this redirect issue - we've been advised to wait and see whether Google restores these rankings, but I'm still concerned as to whether this represents a more serious problem? We have re-indexed the pages we are most concerned about, but am not sure whether there is anything else obvious we should think to do. If anyone has any thoughts, I'd be happy to hear them!

Ranking Drop
hey guys, I know there is always someone here asking this questions, but I have done my fair share of investigation and have not come up with a cause. my ranking dropped from page one to page 2 or 3 last sunday in time span of 4 hours. After that I read that google was updating panda with 4.1, but don't know why I got hit exactly. my competition is all clear and some have even gained rankings, and mine dropped even though my domain and page authority increased as well. any ideas would help. I already checked all the obvious ones (such as spam, links, content, etc)

One page of the site disappeared from serp for a month now
Im working on a clients site and been promoting a specific page to a keyword. started to move up the ranks and exactly a month ago on the 19/5 ( on the same day of the last update) updated the main page im working on with new content and published some other new pages on related subjects that all are linking to the main page im working on ( without the same anchor text in the links ) on the same day i found out that because of a technical error the new content was published on 5 other pages of the site and obviously created a duplicate content issue and i removed all the duplicates on the same day , i assume G caught this thing and punished the site for the duplicate content issue but : when i search the page directly with site:...i can find it. its been a month since i fixed all issues that i thought could impact the page..no duplicate content on the site. no KW stuffing. no spammy links to the page. everything seems fine now my question : why is my page not showing ? how long should i wait before giving up and creating a new page .? how come my site has not lost any organic traffic ( apart from that specific page ) ? is it possible to penalize only one page ? can i recover from this at all ? thanks

How Do I Disappear From the Internet?
Almost everything we talk about here involves making our content, or ourselves, more findable. However, a few years ago someone asked me this question: "How do I disappear from the internet?" She had a blog, a Facebook account, and some miscellaneous community engagement. Perhaps she was had witnessed a murder by a mafia hit man. Maybe she had an ex-boyfriend who was stalking her. She could have been going overseas as a spy. Or maybe she was in trouble with the law. Or she could have just been looking for a job but fearful of the content from her college years. Whatever it was she wanted to disappear from the web ... to go off the grid. Here was my advice: Export the blog content and delete the blog. If you don't delete the blog, hide it with robots.txt, put it behind a login, and put a meta noindex, nofollow, noarchive, noodp tag on all the pages. Export your Facebook account and delete it. Find all the forums and sites you posted to. See if you can delete your posts and profile. Or at least change your name and other profile content. Then maybe delete the email accounts you used for those profiles. Set up Google alerts with your name or specific phrases from your profile. I saw a news article today that reminded me of her question and made me wonder what I missed, if anything. In my college art classes, we would sometimes draw the area surrounding the subject - the negative space - rather than draw the actual subject. This question is like that. What does un-findability look like? Maybe that will bring out some insights on optimization we haven't thought of. So if it were you, how would you go about disappearing from the internet given your current level of engagement online? Maybe it would be helpful to imagine yourself in a witness protection scenario. 🙂 zig3tMp.png

Are lots of links from an external site to non-existant pages on my site harmful?
Google Webmaster Tools is reporting a heck of a lot of 404s which are due to an external site linking incorrectly to my site. The site itself has scraped content from elsewhere and has created 100's of malformed URLs. Since it unlikely I will have any joy having these linked removed by the creator of the site, I'd like to know how much damage this could be doing, and if so, is there is anything I can do to minimise the impact? Thanks!

Why does my site have a PageRank of 0?
My site (www.onemedical.com) has a PageRank of 0, and I can't figure out why. We did a major site update about a year ago, and moved the site from .md to .com about 9 months ago. We are crawled by Google and rank on the first page for many of our top keywords. We have a MozRank of 4.59. I figured this is something that would just take time to work out of the system, but nothing seems to change while we patiently wait. One more thing to note - when a user comes to the homepage (city selector) and selects their region they will then be cookied and directed to their relevant city site on subsequent visits. But even our city-specific pages (ie www.onemedical.com/sf) have pageranks of 0. My management team keeps asking me about this and I suspect there is something silly that we keep overlooking...but for the life of me, can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.
