"Google is currently looking for a way to measure the quality of people's Facebook and Twitter followers. This is to prevent companies from being rewarded for simply creating a bunch of fake profiles to "like" their own page in order to look more popular. "
Kind of seems like what the Google Algo is doing rooting out spammy sites (fake profiles)
"Right now, there is no way to measure this. "
Sort of like Pagerank. If somebody is a big celebrity and 1m people follow them they will rank high. If they only follow 100 people--chances our those 100 are pretty important as well and will rank them a bit higher because of it (just like links).

My first thoughts are there's no mention of Google+, which we all know is having an impact on SEO and click-through rates.
I think that SEO and social media have to survive together. If I'm looking for a new lawn-mower i'm going to search for one online, there's no way that I'm going to use social media to find one. Though I might ask a question to my followers, I would prefer to do my research online. There's tons of stuff not talked about in social media that I might have an interest in buying, so SEO is definitely here to stay.

On a website, is the most effective user experience for the social media icons to open new tabs?
There is debate around what is most effective for user experience. When a user clicks on the social media icons on our site, should a new tab be opened for the social media page or should the website redirect to the social media page?

Social Media Causing Duplicate Content
Recently, I spent some time in the SEO MOZ Crawl Diagnostics, and found that I have 40 pages that are being listed as “duplicate content.” These are original blog posts, but I made the mistake of sharing on social media immediately after publishing each post. I recently found out that if you post on a blog and on social on the same day, Google indexes the social first, and then up to 2 weeks later indexes the actual blog post. When it does, it stamps the blog post as duplicate and the social media posting as the original. Any ideas on how I can rectify this? Any code I can put in each blog post to let Google know they’re the original? I’ve begun publicizing my blogs on social 14 days after I actually publish them to alleviate the issue going forward, but I’d like my 40 other blog posts to get the authority they deserve.

Very interesting test on social signals, thoughts?
According to this inforgraphic I found on Unbounce, the most powerful social signal is Google-Plus followers followed by Google-Plus votes. Now these results look amazing, so if this test is correct I need to gather 100 business page followers and a shed load of plus votes and I should see big movement in the SERP's? Thoughts? http://www.tastyplacement.com/wp-content/uploads/testing-social-signals.jpg testing-social-signals.jpg
