Strategy After Switching To HTTPS

So we made a big mistake with our website last month. Without thinking things through, our entire website was switched to using a SSL certificate and https urls on all pages of the site. I know it is recommended that SSL is only used on sensitive pages, but we have a lead form on all pages.
Of course Google is taking some time to adjust to all of our urls changing. A week later we lost all of our Google search rankings. It has now been about 3 weeks and our site is showing some signs of recovery, but obviously we'd like a quicker recovery.
We have done proper 301 redirects throughout the site, but unfortunately our CMS has been a little buggy creating some other problems to fix along the way.
So my main question is, how can we speed up the process? I do understand that we stand to lose 5-10% value of our old links due to the redirects. Is there anything else we should be doing to recover quicker though?
Also, at this point, would it make any sense to switch back to http urls? Or would that just delay things further?

This is very sensitive contact info due to the nature of our niche. I do agree that a more simplified lead form on all pages with the extended info on a secure page would be best, but that decision is beyond my control.
Besides, if we were to make that change now, wouldn't it just delay the recovery since all urls would change again?
So it seems like we're at a point that we should be trying to make things work as is. It is definitely not the ideal setup, but I think we should still be able to recover rankings with this setup.

Is it really necessary to have everything on https? What kind of information are you collecting on this lead form? Most people won't bat an eye about you collecting things like name and e-mail address on a non-secure connection, but it would depend on your customers and industry. For the visits you're getting now, are a higher percentage submitting the lead form because the pages are secure? If not, I'd flip the URLs back. https is slower and the browser won't be able to cache everything, so it makes the user suffer on every page load.
A few other thoughts (it's impossible to say without seeing your site), but having a lead form on every page may be overkill. You could just link to the form (and then have the form be secure), or you might find success collecting just the e-mail address on all of your pages, and when you collect it, have that go to a secure lead form. Then you'll have a chance to e-mail market to those who abandon the form. Something to think about and maybe A/B test.

I am new to this site, but i would have done the same of a 301 redirect.
However can you not use both https and http? and then drop one once the search engines are listing both? (im not sure if they will see this as duplicate content or not though, if not just run with both http and https)
not sure if you know this or not but, within your HTML links you can use just "//www.domain.com" as appose to "http://www.domain.com". the links will then work on both http and https

HTTPS during or after redesign
Performing a website redesign and with that we are going to be deindexing a lot of pages and make big changes to the site architecture. With all of these big changes happening with the redesign, should we include the change to https during the redesign or about 4-6 months after? If we do it after we will have time to diagnose any shortcomings of the redesign. Thanks!

Huge Search Traffic Drop After Switching to HTTPS - No Recovery After Couple of Months
Hi In November, we have switched our website (https://www.insidermonkey.com) from HTTP to HTTPS. Initially, we noticed slight search traffic loss but later discovered it might be due to HTTPS switch. A month later we added the https version at search console, and then saw an immediate huge drop (about 25-30%). We discovered the problem might be due to poor redirection and noticed our redirects were 302s instead of 301s. To fix the problem, we implemented the 301 redirects and submitted the sitemap containing links to the old site at the new search console property (https). We've gone through points listed on the page below: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6073543 We fixed the redirects to 301 Double-checked the sitemaps Made sure we had a properly installed SSL certificate (Now, we get A+ from https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=www.insidermonkey.com) Made sure we have no mixed-content errors (we don't have any issues at search console.) We only avoided implementing HSTS, in case we might want to switch back to HTTP.

We had a small improvement in the following month, but our traffic did not fully recover. We wanted to test for the possibility to switch back HTTP by switching only 2 articles in our CMS to HTTP. Our traffic got worse, not only for those but for the whole site. Then we switched back those 2 articles to HTTPS again and implemented HSTS. It seems our search traffic getting worse day by day with no sign of improving. In the link below you can find the screenshot of our weekly search traffic between 1 October - 1 March. SEO Impacts if changing from https to http (or viceversa)
Hi there, I want to take the benefits (both Google's SEO rewards and increased site speed) from putting on-line my site (it's not yet live) with a SSL certificate and make it use the new HTTP/2 protocol. Now the question is: if in the future I won't renew the SSL certificate (because too expensive, maybe), so the site will run through normal HTTP, do I risk to see changes of my pages on the SERPs? Will I lose all positions that I got? Thanks in advance for your tips!

What other SEO strategies and tactics can be accomplished at this point?
The client specializes in home, commercial and restoration cleaning services and offers carpet, upholstery, area rug, wood floor, drapery, tile and gout, stone and restoration services such as (water damage, fire damage, mold remediation). This company has over 40 franchises. Carpet cleaning service is their core service that gets them to the customer’s door, then technicians get to up sell on the secondary services (tile, upholstery, stone, wood…) One of the main strategies we have implemented successfully is to be more visible at the local level was a local SEO strategy with every locations having their own unique landing pages for each of the services they would offer ( for instance the san diego location would a customized page for carpet, upholstery and all services they would offer). We have done a great job optimizing each of these locations. Optimization includes on page optimization, unique NAP information, local citations (manual insertions + Yext). We also added local markups and for some of the franchises we added review snippet. Link building around carpet cleaning has been conducted as well through guest posting and in links content. Most of our locations have a google business updated and optimized as well. We are working to get as many reviews as possible but it is still very challenging. In summary basic SEO tactics have been implemented following google’s guideline. Traffic & rankings got us a positive progressive boost in mid 2013(April to August) but in april 2014 the site got hit by manual penalty affecting all carpet cleaning queries only. I was able to cleanup the mess within 2 months luckily but unfortunately we still saw a drop of %40 in traffic (vs 2013) on average in all carpet cleaning pages YoY (april to august). 2015 Q1 traffic has improved by 6% compared to Q1 2014 which is good but still not at the level we were. With the pigeon update and all the high authoritative directories (yelp, angieslist) taking over more and more of the organic real estate in the SERP and increase in competition we have had a hard time getting back to where we were (2013) and we may never get back unless another algorithmic change happens. Another frustrating thing is local competition which has the worst sites as far as UX and content and still outranks us ( such as http://www.carpetcleaninglosangeles.com/). My main goal is to figure out a plan to increase traffic within the carpet cleaning pages and therefore increase conversions. Like it or not rankings for carpet cleaning queries is affecting our CC traffic, so working towards improving them is one way to go even though I shouldn’t focus all my efforts on just rankings. 2015 SEO main activities has been:

-add industry certification logos to build trust with users and improve conversion

Will I lose Ranking if I switch from Volusion to Big Commerce?
I've had a website with Volusion for years and rank in the top position for most relative keywords. I'm planning to move to Big Commerce because of the limitations with Volusion but I'm worried that my rankings will suffer when I move... is this a valid concern and is there anything I should do to make the transition seamless?

What Navigation strategy should I pursue for this local SEO project? Why?
Hi Mozzers, Context: I am working with a plumbing company that is located in NC and covers 6 locations( 1 address + 5 target cities). To start off I am planning to SEO his main location + 2 to 3 areas. The initial plan is to create 30 (10 services for 3 locations) unique landing pages for the main area and the extra locations,. His services are: PLUMBING EMERGENCY PLUMBING WATER TREATMENT WATER HEATER INSTALLATION WATER HEATER REPAIR TANKLESS WATER HEATERS SEWER AND DRAIN CLEANING REPIPING GARBAGE DISPOSALS GENERAL PLUMBING Since I am including 2 to 3 extra areas offering all these services above, should I include a subnavigation which will create a localized microsite within the site itself for these extra locations or not? Switching Url
I started working with a Roofer/Contractor about a year ago. His website is http://www.lancasterparoofing.com/. The name of his business is Spicher Home Improvements. He used to have spicherhomeimprovements.com, well he still does. He was focusing on Roofing and Siding but now would like to branch to other areas like Interior remodeling. So adding interior work under LancasterPaRoofing.com is not applicable. I do not think starting another domain and having two is the best option. I think he should go back to using SpicherHomeImprovements.com and I assume he would take a small hit but in time he should be better off. Plus the url is more applicable to the real name of his business. Thanks for any feedback I receive. Chad

SEO Strategy for URL Change
I'm working with a company who will likely have to change their URL because of a trademark dispute. They will be able to maintain the new URL for some period but will soon need to drop the existing URL all together. Aside from the usual keyword considerations when choosing a URL, are there any SEO strategies I should consider as we execute this change?
