Best way to find what key phrases to optimize my site for.

What is the best tool to find out what key phrases to optimize my site for? I have been using Google's Adwords keyword suggestion tool for a long time but thought there might be something better out there.
Thanks mozzers!

I agree with Dana Google analytics if set up correctly is an extremely powerful tool. You will get to see what is out there and so you know everything that Google ad words is showing you is wonderful information however it is most likely very hard to rank for if you do an exact match. Dana's idea of doing on tail keywords adding a word or two will not only allow you to make it more fitting to what you offer in addition it will give you a much better chance of ranking for that keyword. I also love using http://scribecontent.com/ I think it makes me a better writer.
I hope I've been of some help,
Thomas

By far the best tool I have found to harvest "high possibility" keyword phrases is custom reports in Google Analytics that show you search volume and conversion data on long-tail keywords. Here's an absolutely brilliant post from Avinash Kaushik that not only walk you through the set up, he actually gives you the custom report links, so all you have to do is be logged in to your Google Analytics and click the link and KAPOW! You will be a longtail keyword ninja!

Hope that inspires you and is helpful too!

Why is my site ranking well on google but not on Yahoo and Bing?
For our site Boynton Law, we added it to be indexed on Yahoo and Bing but none of the keywords are showing up in the top 50 rankings. Why are our keywords not working on Yahoo and Bing, but on Google our keyword rankings for Boytnon are really strong?

Site has multiple services, how to target multiple keywords and what to to about citations
Hi i managing a site that has 3 main services its a hotel, a restaurant and a brewery. It has the word brewery in the name and URL and has for years primarily pushed the brewery side and that is doing well its has a good DA and lots of links point back to its home page. Now the problem is it doesn't rank very well for the term hotel or restaurant, theres only 2 referring domains links pointing to its hotel page. All its hotel citations point to the homepage (which is mainly optimised for the keyword brewery) should i update the citations to point to the hotel page which has been optimised for the search term hotel? or should I leave those and just create new citation pointing to the hotel page. Should i right a few blog posts about the businesses hotel and link them to the hotels page? and then I also then do the same for restaurant? I hope i've explained myself well and would appreciate the advice

Keyword cannibalization in ecommerce sites
I'm assuming this is a common problem in ecommerce sites. Lets say we have a "sleeping bags" which has all types of sleeping bags on it. Then build a brand page "The North Face" with a subpage for The North Face sleeping bags. Is it possible to target the sleeping bags page for "sleeping bags" while targeting the branded sleeping bag page for "The North Face sleeping bag"? how would you suggest doing this while avoiding keyword cannibalization?

Best Keyword Research Tool / Strategy / Approach?
Currently, I list every root word (one word) I can think of for the client. Then start a 2 word keyword section, making every possible connection with my root words. Then move to 3 word, 4 word, and so on. I do this all in a word document and by hand. Does anybody have ANYTHING (tool/strategy) that does something similar? I'm looking for anything that can expedite this process. My manual method makes me feel like I'm always forgetting certain combinations of words.
