Article distribution do's and dont's
-
I recently spent the day writing 2 400 word+ articles and have submitted them to x1 article directory.
I want to know if it is ok to submit the same articles to more article directorys?
-
what if someone has done this? remove article or links or build more quality links to nullify the effect? I have done this and lost my ranking to a great extent. What should i do now?
-
Hey Dean,
It's a common problem when dealing with a specific niche. Therefore you have to look to the wider industry they are in, home renovation.
As Keri says below, the articles will need to be unique to get them on sites that will make a difference to your SEO.
I can't stress enough, for your guest posting to really work, make sure the posts have valuable insights. One way to do this is to interview the business owner, they are the expert on the subject.
Thanks

_Sorry for the confusion .. Here is what I think. Article directories are those sites which were heavily affected by algo updates. Panda almost torched them so that being said, it will be just wasting your time and effort as you are going to get links from sites that are already under Google’s scanner. And do not even think about posting the same content twice or thrice in different directories.. it will not do any good to your website _

Hi Keri,
Thanks for the reply. I want to get a site to the 1st page of google for a particular search term and I notice a competitor has done several really bad articles (written really badly) hardly make sense I would guess that they have been spun, yet google has rewarded them with a first page ranking even though my site has loads more content.
I thought it would be a good idea to write some really good articles (in English) and submit to several article directories just like them. Only with a stronger site behind them.
Surely I should get a 1st page ranking?

Better places on the web won't accept duplicate content.
What about writing for your website instead, so that when people look for that type of content in a search engine they find your site, and not the site of an article directory?
-
Your not really answering my question are you. I am a fan of ppc but I think a lot can be said for link building too.

Hey thanks for the reply. Im taking onboard your suggestions. How do I go about finding blogs in my niche? The website im working on is for a company that build driveways in x3 of the home counties. I have tried searching for driveway blogs and dont really find anything that useful to guest blog for. Any other suggestions?

_I am not a big fan of article submission or directory submission or any of the common low hanging SEO fruits. What I believe is that when you get a link easily, the purpose of earning that link is lost forever. Rather than wasting your time doing these cheap things. You need to do real marketing. And it is up to you how you are going to define what real marketing is. _

Hey Dean,
It's good to see you're doing link building for your site. However as Vikas points out, you'll need to be careful not to stumble into the duplicate content area. Also unless the article directory is an authority in your niche, you'll get limited results with this tactic.
Try reaching out to blogs in your niche and write specific posts for them, that targets their readers. That should help you get better results.
Just another word of warning, don't solely rely on guest posting, article directories etc for link building. Make sure you get a diversified back link profile, so when the next update comes it won' t affect your rankings.
Thanks & good luck

Its not a good idea to submit same article to more than one websites because Google see it as duplicate content and it will do more harm then benefit.

I earned some high-quality backlinks, but the target page's ranking is not improving. Why?
Within the last three months, I acquired five .EDU backlinks and two editorial links to a page ranking for a competitive keyword. After the first few links came through, the page jumped from #15 to #7. It stayed there with minor fluctuations for a couple weeks. I earned a couple more good links, and the page fell as far as #44. It has recovered a bit then, but has not returned to the first page. It is worth noting that the .EDU links were achieved by sponsoring university programs. Could Google possibly be recognizing this as a link scheme? Are the links being earned too quickly? I don't believe it could be either, as the links reside on high quality, trustworthy sites and there wasn't a sudden major influx of them. Thank you for your insight! Also, I think my username tricked Moz into thinking I'm a staffer. Not the case!

Is too high a frequency of 'money' keywords backlinks considered factor for Penguin penalties, even if the money keywords are on reputable pages ?
Is too high a frequency of 'money' keywords backlinks (eg. a money keyword backlink for moz.com would be "Seo tools") a considered factor for Penguin penalties even if the money keywords are only on reputable pages, with decent PA, DA and trust ?

How Effective Are Links Between The Same Company's Websites With Different Domain Extensions?
Morning! The main competitor of an eCommerce site I'm working on has a total of 31 sites for 31 different countries. Each one of these sites has a different domain extension (.com, .co.uk, .fr, .it etc.), and every single one of these sites' pages links to all the other homepages through a dropdown menu on the navigation bar. When I pop the .co.uk URL (our main competitor) into Open Site Explorer, I'm advised they have a 45,079 links from 475 domains. If I look at 'just discovered' links, most are from their own sites - I guess MOZ picks these up every time a new page is created. Now, these guys are huge in the UK. They rank in the top 10 for pretty much every single search term and, to put it into some kind of perspective, their Search Metrics score is 33,000 compared to our measly 160! Don't get me wrong, they do get some decent links from authoritative sites, but it seem most of their links are from their own sites. How does Google view these? Does my competitor have these thousands of 'internal' backlinks to thank for their current position? I've just checked their .kr URL and this has 12.5 million(!) links from just 450 domains. Do every single one of these links pass equity? Or does Google just look at one from each domain? Thanks, Lewis

What should I look for when choosing a good article directory for SEO purposes?
I have been writing SEO content for blogs for the past year or so, but I am fairly new to article directories. With SEO in mind, what makes a particular article directory valuable? Currently I'm using EzineArticles and Squidoo; I liked Ezine in particular because of their thorough review process. I saw that recently Squidoo also amped up their checks for original content as a result of Google's stricter policies. I was interested in using HubPages also since they are good about reviewing content. I'm just curious how much factors like this reflect on an article directory SEO-wise. Are there any additional factors that set a a good article directory apart?

Where/should I post my press release/articles on my own website?
I have started a long-term article marketing campaign and press release distribution. I will have about 4 articles and press releases in total every month. Although the press releases will not be self-promotional, sometimes they will be talking about a certain product that we unveil. The question is, due to the high quality of these press releases, should I put them on my website as well as publish them on third party websites? If so, because they target a specific service/product which we already have a dedicated page on our website, wouldn't that put Google in the position of choosing between the two pages? I was thinking to put them on my blog and link internally from there with the keywords that I target on those pages as anchor text. The same question for articles. Any suggestions?
