Here are my answers:
- Blog comments are worthy, but not in the way most cheap link building providers want you to believe.
Most are nofollow links, and if they are dofollow the actual page will have many comments, so the link juice is divided in many, and few goes to your own website.
Links from blog commenting are worthy because they can bring referral traffic if you comment on blogs related to your niche and your comments are interesting.
2, 3 and 4) Many so called SEO companies offer the blog comments services because they are cheap and easy to do - they use software that automatically posts spun comments in list of blogs. In minutes they can post thousands of blog comments. Even if only 1% of those pass spam filters or are approved by mistake, or get on blogs that are not moderated they have something to show to the clients.
If you want to rephrase my answer in fewer words I can put it like this: Because spam is cheap. There are also good SEO companies that include these in their offer even if they know blog comments don't help much. They manage to get some great links by legit means, but they can't charge the client for - let's say - 10 links. Because clients want to see numbers. Wants to see "how many", not "how good".
So to have better numbers they add a few hundreds links from blog comments to the final bill, even if they now the real results will come from those only 10 good links that are not from blog comments. - Blog comments are worthy, but not in the way most cheap link building providers want you to believe.
-
Of course they are important, they are among the most important means for solid online relationship building. Regardless the link type (dofollow/nofollow) , interesting and ontopic comments will always make the blog owner curious about who the commentator is, what he does and what other articles he writes.

Hi,
-
Blog links are still important in a way so I believe you can say it is worthy. However, since most blogs have no=follow tag, you don't get any link juice but by providing good and informative comment, it helps build your brand and direct peopleto your website.
-
Off Page strategy is not simply build backlinks. By commenting on blogs and participating, it helps your brand build awareness and possibly increase traffic as i mentioned above.
-
As I mentioned above, majority of blogs don't give link juice in comments but people still comment because they want to participate in the community. It is another way to help your website or brand indirectly.
I believe you get the point from the answers above. Comments don't affect SEO but it still plays a role in marketing strategy such as building brand awareness and recognition, making yourself look like expert in a field., hopefully increase traffic via links and simply like to participate and network with other smart people.

Schema for blogs
When I run a wordpress blog through the structured data testing tool I see that there is @type hentry. Is this enough for blogs etc? Is this a result of Wordpress adding in this markup? Do you recommend adding @blogposting type and if so why? What benefit to add a specific type of schema? How does it help in blogging? Thanks

How should we handle re-directory links? Should we remove these links?
We are currently cleaning up bad links that were purchased by a previous SEO agency. We have found links on anonym.to pages that redirect traffic to our site automatically. How should this be handled? Should we remove these links?

Should I change the URL now?
Hi all, I have a client website that got hit in the latest algorithm update. It since appears that it had over 100 suspect links to it. I performed the Disavow procedure a few weeks ago via my Google Webmaster account, but have not received a message yet to say its been actioned. The majority of these suspect links go to one page. I am considering changing the base category (in Wordpress) to a different keyphrase and then submitting a new sitemap for indexing. This way there will be no actual link from a suspect website to a page on my website. Do you see what I mean? Will this help do you think? Thanks in advance.

Removing links from another site
Hello, Some site that I have never been able to access as it is always down has over 3,000 links to my website. They disappeared the other week and our search queries dramatically improved but now they are back again in Google Webmaster and we have dropped again.I have contacted the site owner and got no response and I have also put in a removal form (though I am not sure this fits for that) and asked Google to remove as they have been duplicating our content also. It was in my pending section but has now disappeared. This links are really damaging our search and the site isnt even there. Do I have to list all 3,000 links in the link removal to Google or is there another way I can go about telling them the issue.Appreciate any help on this

Internal Linking: Site-wide VS Content Links
I just watched this video in which Matt Cutts talks about the ancient 100 links per page limit. I often encounter websites which have massive navigation (elaborate main menu, side bar, footer, superfooter...etc) in addition to content area based links. My question is do you think Google passes votes (PageRank and anchor text) differently from template links such as navigation to the ones in the content area, if so have you done any testing to confirm?
