Unsure where Google has sourced this inaccurate Product Data
-
Hi,
This is a slightly odd one I was hoping someone could shed some light on.
One of our staff just did a Google search and located these listings on Google UK Product Search:
Do you happen to have any idea where Google is getting this regionalised data from and in particular the pricing which is incorrect?
We have a Google (UK) Product Feed however the prices given are different than those being displayed in this localised search. Additionally the product feed that we supply relates to our main website and not a specific store.
If you click through to compare prices from multiple merchants you'll see our prices being listed correctly under our company name and website rather than the incorrect pricing attributed to a specific store.
I have checked our Google Places Account and our Google Product Feed Account but I just can't figure out where this data and incorrect pricing is coming from and indeed why it only affects our physical stores and not the more generalised website pricing.
If someone could point me in the right direction so I can get this corrected I’d appreciate it!
Many thanks
Chris

Hi Everett,
Many thanks for getting in contact. I did actually ask this as a private question and got quite a good response and thought it might be a good idea to share it in case anybody else has this issue. A screenshot is included as a link.

Hey Chris,
In this instance it appears that Google is grouping all vendors by ink-type. Specifically here: http://www.google.co.uk/products/... There are several vendors listed. ColcUSA seems to have the price advertised at £5.
I don't know how your name came up that way, and I'm not able to replicate the issue. When I even searched "Refresh Cartridges Ink" I couldn't get that to reappear. When I did, ColcUSA did appear as the vendor on the right side.
But the prices being advertised are not yours and Google is just suggesting the cheapest price that the ink retails for. Does this happen every time you search?

Hi Jasmine,
Hmmmmm.... perhaps this search is regionalised somewhat; the issue doesn't affect our main site but we have three stores and the incorrect product data appears for the Google Local searches. I should have posted a screenshot really in the first instance I suppose so here's one now
It's definitely stating the products are from us and if you click through it does indeed link to the correct page on our website but the prices are completely different.
We do have a Google Product feed but this does convey the correct pricing which then does appear when going a Google Product Search rather than a Google Local Search.
I hope I'm making sense but in all honesty, I've confused myself somewhat!
Many thanks

UGH!!! i just typed this answer and the internet ate it! grrr....
http://imgur.com/dTDzz This is an alternate way to view the information. The list view that you're showing me has cut this information down incorrectly and inserted avg star reviews per product, most local store, and cheapest price.
I'm afraid the only way to get this changed is to call AdWords and complain. Now that Google Shopping & AdWords have been blurred together they might be able to help, or register your complaint differently.
There's not really a way to change it because the information you put together is correct, but Google's formula for presenting this information is a mashup of all the data they have available to them.
I'm not even capable of clicking on any of these listings (in list or tile format) that will allow me to click through directly to your site. I get a list of retailers with correct prices.
Does this make any sense? I know it doesn't help the fact that your store is being shown with an incorrect price, but it's definitely not your fault.

Ahhhhhhhhhh.... I see, so the price given is the lowest price available on the Internet, not the actual price that we're selling the items at. This is really, REALLY unclear in list view mode.
I guess that's good news however; I was worried that we'd set something up incorrectly and that Google would come down on us like a ton of bricks in a couple of weeks time.
Thanks for your help, it's very much appreciated.

Yay! Glad I could help! I'll mark this as resolved, but this question should still be open to discussion. If you have any problems in the future please feel free to pick it back up!

Hello Chris,
Could you provide some detailed screenshots (with markup) of what you are seeing? I did see the "Refresh Cartridges - Torquay" prices on the link but couldn't find Refresh Cartridges as a store when viewing the comparison list. Perhaps this has something to do with my location, or perhaps the items I was looking for are no longer active in the feed. Either way, I think in this situation screenshots would help.
Regards,
Everett

This is quite odd as the inaccurate product data still remains. If anybody has any idea whatsoever I would really appreciate some assistance.

Can anyone lend a hand in understanding what has gone wrong, I would really appreciate it. The site is: http://www.discountstickerprinting.co.uk/ Seems to be working again but I had to fetch the home page in google console, any idea why this has happened cannot afford a heat op at this age lol?

Reclaiming Ranking positions in Google
We have a website we are working on that was ranking well in Google but since having a hosting upgrade has completely dropped in rankings. When a hosting upgrade was made, the developer added an incorrect robots.txt file that restricted the site from being found, hence resulting in lost rankings. We have since sorted out that issue so the robots.txt is OK. However, ranking results have yet to be reclaimed. We are unsure why these rankings haven't rebounded back, as it has been a while now. The site is https://www.brightonpanelworks.com.au. We have since also attempted to add a sitemap however to help the site be better crawled and to regain rankings, however, it appears that sitemap generators are having problems creating a sitemap for this site and we are not sure why. And we are not sure whether this may relate to why Google has not picked up on pages and ranking results have not be restored. If you have any ideas as to how we can reclaim rankings to the strong positions they were in previously, that would be much appreciated. We believe we may be missing something here that is not allowing webpages to be picked up and ranked by Google.

Google not Indexing images on CDN.
My URL is: http://bit.ly/1H2TArH We have set up a CDN on our own domain: http://bit.ly/292GkZC We have an image sitemap: http://bit.ly/29ca5s3 The image sitemap uses the CDN URLs. We verified the CDN subdomain in GWT. The robots.txt does not restrict any of the photos: http://bit.ly/29eNSXv. We used to have a disallow to /thumb/ which had a 301 redirect to our CDN but we removed both the disallow in the robots.txt as well as the 301. Yet, GWT still reports none of our images on the CDN are indexed. The above screenshot is from the GWT of our main domain. The GWT from the CDN subdomain just shows 0. We did not submit a sitemap to the verified subdomain property because we already have a sitemap submitted to the property on the main domain name. While making a search of images indexed from our CDN, nothing comes up: http://bit.ly/293ZbC1While checking the GWT of the CDN subdomain, I have been getting crawling errors, mainly 500 level errors. Not that many in comparison to the number of images and traffic that we get on our website. Google is crawling, but it seems like it just doesn't index the pictures!? Can anyone help? I have followed all the information that I was able to find on the web but yet, our images on the CDN still can't seem to get indexed.

Buying a domain banned by google
Hi , I came across a super domain for my business but found out that it was a great domain with 100s of link backs but is now banned by Google search engine meaning Google does not index content from that domain. Since the domains linkbacks are from my domin does it make sense to but that domain and redirect those link backs to another (301) and hope that the new domain gets some juice ... I know it is sounding crazy and may not be the best thing to do ethically but still wanted to check if its possible to get some juice.. Rgds Avinash

Google Places not appearing
is it possible to be sandboxed for a google places page? one of our clinics has a places page, and it was doing fine (http://www.google.com/maps/place?cid=5542269234389030356) but now whenever we set our location to trinity,fl and try to search for weight loss, weight loss trinity, etc.. it doesnt come up. it only comes up if we search medi weight loss trinity. also, when we go into our google places dashboard and try to edit the pictures, it doesnt show the same pictures on the actual locations page. for example, in our dashboard we have 5 pictures, but on the actual places page, 3 pictures are showing (none of which are in our dashboard). any ideas?
