How to find an internal link that is generating a duplicate
-
Hello Mozers
Can anybody help me. It's a bit OCD, but, I really want to find the internal links within a clients site that are generating duplicate urls.
I did start looking page by page using search, but got a bit stir crazy!
I'm sure one of you smart SEO's will have a simple, clever solution:)
Thanks

My problem is that I do have the referrer, it's an internal page, often the page that is creating the duplicate content. I keep searching for links that are generating the discrepancies and can't find them.
I've run a report using xenu, but now I've got even more wood (can't see the wood for the trees).
Can you recommend any good resources for using xenu?
That would be a big help!
Thanks Catherine

It's not OCD, it's good practice!
If the duplicate has been indexed, you could try using the link: operator with the URL in Google search.
Do you have Xenu Link Sleuth? If not it's free, and don't worry if it looks dodgy, it is kosher. You could crawl the whole site with Xenu. Once the crawl is complete right-click on the URLs you have as duplicate content and it'll show the pages that link to it.

Duplicate content or Duplicate page issue?
Hey Moz Community! I have a strange case in front of me. I have published a press release on my client's website and it ranked right away in Google. A week after the page completely dropped and it completely disappeared. The page is being indexed in Google, but when I search "title of the PR", the only results I get for that search query are the media and news outlets that have reported the news. No presence of my client's page. I also have to mention that I found two URLs of the same page: one with lower case letters and one with capital letters. Is this a duplicate page or a duplicate content issue coming from the news websites? How can I solve it? Thanks!

Google Links
I am assuming that the list presented by Google Webmaster tools (TRAFFIC | Links To Your Site) is the one that will actually be used by Google for indexing ? There seem to be quite a few links that there that should not be there. ie Assumed NOFOLLOW links. Am I working under an incorrect assumption that all links in webmaster tools are actually followed ?

Crawl Diagnostics - How to find where broken links are located?
Hi, One of my sites has a 4xx error that has been picked up in the crawl diagnostics section. It is a broken link. Does anybody know if it is possible for me to find out which page the broken link was found on? I have checked all of the pages on the site that I thought were linking to the page that seems to have a problem but all of these links are fine / not broken. Any ideas? Thanks

Internal Links on eCommerce sites
I have been working on an eCommerce site; www.pretavoir.co.uk over the past year. Improvements in SERPs have been good with many top three positions. However, there are other important keywords of similar difficulty which refuse to behave in a similar way.... The site is PR4 and has a homepage PA 52. The homepage includes links to internal brand pages eg Prada, Gucci etc. Q Would it be worthwhile creating footer anchor text with eaxct text eg Prada sunglasses, Gucci Sunglasses?? Thanks
