Will updating part of my site help a static web page
-
Hi, what i am trying to find out is, i have a page on my site http://www.clairehegarty.co.uk/virtual-gastric-band-with-hypnotherapy
and i would like to know, once i have got the page to the way i want it, the page will not change, so i would like to know if i update my site and add pages and articles, will the updates help this page with google rankings, or do i have to keep updating this page if i want it to rank high with google.
i have seen pages that have never changed but they continue to rank high with google and i would like to know their secret

Thank you for this, we wanted to try and show what towns the service was available in and we have tried different ways to show this and this is the only way we have found that works, but i am open to ideas

Diane, I think this was a case of it you went to the auto repair shop to replace your tires, and your rear bumper was falling off. Even though you didn't go in about the fender, or even ask about it, it's something that stands out from the ordinary and is noticed fairly easily.
People in Q&A are generally trying to be helpful, and if they spot something else that looks like it could be a problem, they tend to say something. People come and go here, so they're not aware if previous conversations have occurred on the same topic.

i wanted to make the page as informative as possible, to help people learn all about the surgery and the hypnotherapy that does the same job

Donford - Thought that was great about Space Jam - a useful tip in my arsenal of quotes...
Diane, Yes, by increasing the value of your overall site, this page will increase also, but I would suggest you split the page up, and focus on separate aspects of the work, so as to maximise the keyword potential you have here.

hope I was able to answer that below, I just wanted to follow up on Brian's commit first because he left it a little open with saying "I'm not sure.."

HI Diane
You're asking about algorithms and what Google uses to rate a site and or page. The easy answer is the better the site is overall the easier you'll find it to rank a specific page for a specific terms.
But the more complicated answer is, that nobody in the general public knows or is telling what metric weights google gives to specific things like domain authority, site design, and page popularity.
The reason a site can generate a page and have it rank very well with minimal changes is because the page is exactly what searchers want to see.
Have you heard of "Space Jam" the movie from the 90's? They built a website about the same time and it today is still number 1 for the term space jam. Now if google finds that searching for "Space Jam" and returning NASA's space jelly page is more satisfying to users then that page may become number 1.

Hi I know about the bottom and we are looking into this as we are showing where it is available but this was not the question I asked. I would be happy for someone to come along and help me with the question I have asked

Following up on Brian's comment...
It would be considered a spam tactic and could get a easy ding if a competitor reported it. That content is specially there for search engines and provides little to no user value.

Regional sites built on different platforms - will this solution for international targeting work?
We are working with our dev team on a few upcoming user stories to improve store.hp.com. We came across a question which isn’t clear in the international targeting documentation. Within http://store.hp.com, we have a number of regional stores, but those are often built on separate platforms. Therefore a story developed on the US infrastructure doesn’t carry over to Canada and so forth. The Canada Store is managed by a different team, so that story needs to get scoped, prioritized, etc. independently. In regards to helping Google understand page equivalence, will Google accept the page relationship if we include hreflang tags exclusively in the sitemap for the US site and exclusively as page-level markup for Canada site? For example: http://store.hp.com/CanadaStore (hreflang notation at page-level): http://store.hp.com/us/en" /> http://store.hp.com/CanadaStore" /> http://store.hp.com/us/en" /> http://store.hp.com/us/en (hreflang notation within sitemap file): <loc>http://store.hp.com/us/en</loc> rel="alternate" hreflang="en-ca" href=" http://store.hp.com/CanadaStore" /> rel="alternate" hreflang="en-us" href="http://store.hp.com/us/en" /> Appreciate the help anyone can give! Will a blog post about a collection of useful tools and web resources for a specific niche being seen as negative by google for too many links?
SEO newbie here, I'm thinking about creating a blog post about a collection of useful tools and web resources for my specific niche. It'd be 300 links or more, but with comments, and categorized nicely. It'd be a useful resource for my target audience to bookmark, and share. Will google see this as a negative? If so, what's the best way to do such a blog post? Thanks

A few pages deindexed from Google .. PLEASE HELP!
My client has a fairly new site and we were agressively building content to the website. It is an ecommerce store and we have got a blog as well. We guest blogged in a few places and wrote 3-5 articles a day. Last few days, i noticed 3-4 pages that we were building links to got deindexed. What could be the reason? We weren't using any bots to build links, only a couple of it around 5-10 links to a page. Google WMT is not showing any messages and no manual action is seen. What could be the reason? I've submitted those URL for reindex and so far nothing seems to work. Any idea? Please help.

Post Site Migration - thousands of indexed pages, 4 months after
Hi all, Believe me. I think I've already tried and googled for every possible question that I have. This one is very frustrating – I have the following old domain – fancydiamonds dot net. We built a new site – Leibish dot com and done everything by the book: Individual 301 redirects for all the pages. Change of address via the GWT. Trying to maintain and improve the old optimization and hierarchy. 4 months after the site migration – we still have to gain back more than 50% of our original organic traffic (17,000 vs. 35,500-50,000 The thing that strikes me the most that you can still find 2400 indexed pages on Google (they all have 301 redirects). And more than this – if you'll search for the old domain name on Google – fancydiamonds dot net you'll find the old domain! Something is not right here, but I have no explanation why these pages still exist. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Big page of clients - links to individual client pages with light content - not sure if canonical or no-follow - HELP
Not sure what best practice here is: http://www.5wpr.com/clients/ Is this is a situation where I'm best off adding canonical tags back to the main clients page, or to the practice area each client falls under? No-following all these links and adding canonical? No-follow/No-index all client pages? need some advice here...

Need joomla help. site rankings dropped since upgrade
Hi, really having problems here with www.in2town.co.uk our site was always in the top ten for a large number of important keywords and since our upgrade from joomla 1.5 a month ago to joomla 3.0 we have vanished out of a lot of the search engines for important keywords I am concerned that we could be doing something wrong. two of our important keywords is lifestyle magazine and also gastric band hypnotherapy, but we are nowhere to be seen for these keywords. I must be doing something wrong. The site is an old site, we have been around for many years and have always ranked well up until now. We use K2 and i am just wondering if we have set up things wrong. for example under this article it comes under the category of trip advisor http://www.in2town.co.uk/trip-advisor/t ... -term-stay now when you delete the article name and just keep the trip advisor you get a list of the articles and i am wondering if this is damaging my site. http://www.in2town.co.uk/trip-advisor any help in helping me to understand why my site has dropped in rankings would be great.
