Google Images referral visits fell off a cliff

As of 28-Jan, referral traffic from Google images (/imgres) to my domain has pretty much vaporized. Visits are down 85%.
It's actually not a disaster because most of those visits were from poorly optimized alt tags that were resulting in low quality visits. The interesting thing is that visit duration is up 80% during the same period.
So I'm asking this question out of curiosity more than anything. Is this likely an algorithm tweak? I can't think of any major changes on my end.
There's only one other data point to mention but I don't see how they'd be connected. I did two PRWEB releases on 29-Jan and 30-Jan that resulted in a few hundred new no-follow links back to my site.

According to google , they say:
"The domain name is now clickable, and we also added a new button to visit the page the image is hosted on. This means that there are now four clickable targets to the source page instead of just two. In our tests, we’ve seen a net increase in the average click-through rate to the hosting website."
However, our referral traffic is down too, so is anybody else's I have seen / heard of. The number of buttons does not do anything, an I would like to see their results.
In the past, I have had good traffic from google image search, now it is just less of the same traffic, which is really sad in my opinion.

Yeah, I knew about the change to their presentation of images but hadn't considered the fact that it would reduce click-throughs. Even if I had considered it, I wouldn't have guessed that much of a drop-off. Thanks for the link.

Why is this tag not firing in Google Analytics?
I setup Google Tag Manager on this site- http://germanhausbarn.com I am trying to setup event tracking for the donate, newsletter, and Contact Us button at the bottom of the page. The most recent version is published, and I ran debug and it shows that they fire, but nothing is coming up in analytics. Any thoughts?

Google Analytics Code
We have a quick question about our Google Analytics code: We recently updated to a re-marketing Analytics code, and some of our traffic numbers seem to be off by a bit. I used the Google Tag Assistant Chrome Extension today, and noticed that it's finding our old Analytics code on our pages, but it's coming up as an error due to "no HTTP Response". I am attempting to remove this code from the website, but it is nowhere to be found in the HTML coding. Only the current one is there. So I'm wondering if this second Analytics code is effecting our traffic and reporting, even if the code is currently non-functional? and if it is, how could I go about removing it if it's not currently in our HTML? Thanks!

Where does the organic keyword information come from in Google Analytics?
I know that Google switch to all encrypted search, but I still show some keywords. Are those keywords that slipped through? Or are they all from Yahoo/Bing?

Google penalty
Hi, I've seen a steady improvement in my google search referrals since optimising my site and keeping an eye on SEO over the last few months. I'm only getting relatively small numbers of referrals, around 120-130 a day, but this has steadily increased from about 40 before Christmas. It's been a fairly consistent increase until 4 days ago when suddenly my referral numbers were cut in half. I'd be surprised if google was penalising me since I'm such a small site, but are there any obvious signs I should look out for? Oh, and my site is www.madegood.org should that be of help. Thanks! Google Analytics - Intelligence Custom Alerts
When you add an intelligence custom alert does it look at the history and backdate issues? I've added a few custom alerts, even basic ones like my homepage gets 5 views, create an alert. I either need to wait a day or something is going wrong. Cheers.
