Optimizing a Wordpress Blog For SEO
-
Besides the standard Yoast for SEO plugin tweaks, I'm researching best practices when setting up a wordpress blog.
In this instance, the "front end" of the site would be hardcoded static pages designed for an e-commerce site, while there would also be a /blog/ attached to the site - for blog posts, fresh content, etc.

Actually i am sorry i am not clear your this point.i have tried a lot but can't.will you please explain ?
" Setup your theme and templates to use structured data in the HTML. This will tell Google specifically what your pages and products are best categorized as. http://schema.org. You can use this especially for product reviews which may show up as rich snippets in the search results "

Nice information...I am using Yoast SEO Plugins....but Sitemap not showing...i have downloaded your recommended plugins and wishing to use tomorrow
Nice Go on .........

Thanks, that presentation was great.

I would also recommend that whilst using Yoast for most SEO purposes, you should also use the Google XML Sitemaps plugin by Arne Brachhold (rather than utilising Yoasts built in sitemap functionality). It offers you much more flexibility for your sitemap. For example, you can alter the change frequency of your pages/posts, with Arne's plugin, something which the Yoast plugin doesn't allow unless you play with the PHP.

I hope you can view this. . .

There are a ton of things you can do. Some of my favorites:
-
Optimize the page speed to load as quick as possibly. Good plugin: W3 Total Cache, http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/w3-total-cache/
-
Setup your theme and templates to use structured data in the HTML. This will tell Google specifically what your pages and products are best categorized as. http://schema.org. You can use this especially for product reviews which may show up as rich snippets in the search results.
-
Setup Google Authorship (rel=author) and/or Google Publisher tags for your blog posts and or/pages
-
Change your permalink structure to %postname%
-
Use the Redirection plugin to track your 404s, 301s, and other typical server response codes: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/redirection/
-
Yoast has an Analytics plugin with many customization options for tracking
There is obviously a lot you can do since WP is an open source platform. These should get you started and busy for a while!

Woocommerce SEO and Product attributes
Hi friends! I have a question that is advanced Woocommerce and seo-related.
Web Design | | JustinMurray
I'm seeing http://www.mywebsitex.com/pa_keyword/indexed in Google, but it cannot be properly optimized, and I would prefer to have a WordPress Page indexed for that keyword instead, which also lists those products and can be fully seo optimized. Woocommerce SEO plugin by Yoast lacks documentation and I have no clue if that would even fix this. I do have the Taxonomy (pa_keyword) set to not include these in the sitemap, but there doesn't seem to be a way to noindex/nofollow product attributes.
1. How can I best accomplish this?
2. Why are product attributes indexed by default?0 -

Our on page blog is off page! What?
Hi Moz Community, I have a customer who has a blog that is FULL of great unique content however the blog resides at a URL that differs from the main site. Eg. blog.mywebsite.com Instead of www.mywebsite.com/blog . With the latest Google updates I fear that this may be hurting our web ranking. In addition the web blog is a carbon copy of the main URL. My Question: I am going to schedule a meeting with the web designers, How vociferously should I argue for having them move the blog onsite and write 301 redirects for the current blog site?

We are in the process of building a responsive version of our site for mobile users (currently about 20% of total traffic). What are the most important SEO considerations we should be aware of when it comes to this kind of project? Thanks

SEO page length 4500+ words
I have read varying discussions on this... some say it is good or rather it does not really matter (as long as not stuffed with keywords) and some say more than 1000+ words is bad! I have a travel site and I want to add an historical page about the zone. It is very interesting (very organic, not written for SEO purposes as such). It adds flavor and details to a site that is really all about sales. Does anyone have an opinion whether this is detrimental to SEO or not?

Alternatives to Wordpress for updating content of a static html site
I have a static html site which I cannot update myself. What solutions/ programs would you recommend for gaining the ability to update it myself? I'm reluctant to switch to WordPress because the sites that use any CMS that are hosted by my web hosting company get routinely hacked. Thank you!
