Google Panda This Past Weekend Impact
-
I understood that Google was implementing a major Panda refresh this past weekend.
Did it happen?
Anyone notice any impacts?
What changed?
-
Yes, my website was hit pretty hard (again), and it is pretty weird considering we begun a big cleanup of duplicated contents 5- weeks ago, and we actually expected to have some good results from this last update!
-
I was at SMX West last week and I think Matt Cutts briefly mentioned a algorithm update that was to hit last friday or this monday.. I haven't noticed any impact from it though.
-
I noticed changes on the 9th. Could that be related to a panda refresh?
-
According to SERoundtable they think it hit on Friday, but Google did not confirm:
-
I just got an email from an SEO "expert" who says Panda #25 update hit last Friday. No further explanation except an invite to a telephone presentation tonight.
-
Google was pretty vague saying that there would be a refresh sometime soon and then they weren't going to announce any more because Panda is going to roll in with regular algo changes.
From what I have seen I think that some sites could have been affected on March 15 (Fri). I believe that Dr. Pete noticed a slight flux in the SERPS on Wed and Thurs.
But, no one can conclusively say if there was a refresh or not.

No changes noticed on our end. Seomoz's algo change monitor also has not recorded any changes.

Does RSS Feed help to rank better in Google?
Hello, I heard RSS Feed helps in ranking. However, I am not sure if I should enable RSS Feed or not. Whenever I publish an article on my site , I see that many other websites have leeched my Feed and get's the same article I written published with a nofollow backlink to my website article. The worst part is that my article doesn't appear in Google search, but the website which copied my article gets ranked in Google. Although the article gets index on google (checked by using site:website.com). Although some articles show up after 24 hours by ranking higher from the sites which copied my article. Any idea what should I do? Thank you

Google directs people to the wrong page on my site.
My site is split up into sections about different services my company offers. My problem is, when someone does a search for one of those services, My site's main page comes up rather than the page devoted to the particular service they were searching for. What can I do to make the pages about a specific service rank above my main page?

Blocking Google seeing outbound links?
Apart from rewriting the outbound url to look like a folder 'abc.co.uk/out/link1' and blocking the folder 'out' in the robots.txt file, along with also nofollowing the links as well, is there anything else you can do?

Does show/hide element with javascript impact SEO
Hi I am developing an ecommerce site and want to place text on all category and home page. The challenge is that 300 words of text for the pages does not fit into the design appropriately especially on the home page. If I were to use a show/hide element with javascript would this be seen as spam or a trick to the search engines. I do not think it is spam as it will be actual content for the site and the visitor can view it if they click on the show button. Would love to hear your thoughts?
