Is ReachLocal Killing My SEO Work?
-
I have a customer that I did SEO work for. I cleaned up title tags, content, image tags, the works. Recently, they signed up with Reach Local to do some Pay Per Click. The problem/question I have is that reach local completely copied the entire site and put it on their server. So all my work for this company is now completely replicated. Now there are two sites. ex. windowname.com and windowname.reachlocal.net. It appears they do this for all their customers. Does Google view this as duplicate content? Does my regular website lose positioning to the more powerful ReachLocal?

As Greg said, as long as they are Noindexing the page or robots.txt 'ing it out of the crawl index, you should be just fine.
It's still more than a bit lame that they might be able to take credit for content and layout that you did, though.

Hi Scott, I looked at the case study mentioned on the ReachLocal UK site... hopefully this is shared best practice?
-
Gregory, You were able to find the site he was talking about? Or did you look at your case study?
-
Yup, Rui and Scott had it right...
The /robots.txt file:
User-agent: * Disallow: /
And the source code shows name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow" />

Ow... excellent remark actually. I was actually looking at eventually using ReachLocal (last year) but back then never paid any attention to the fact of where and how the landing pages would be hosted.
The only benefit is that the new domain might cause less problems as to the NAP inconsistency caused by using yet another "campaign phone number" for call tracking... and even monitoring.
I just had a look at the landing page for one of the organisations mentioned on the ReachLocal UK website under Case Studies: http://rubber4roofs-px.rtrk.co.uk instead of http://www.rubber4roofs.co.uk/ > the former domain does not show any PageRank, while the latter does (PR2)
Looking at the above I don't think this would cause you any issues as to the duplicate content on this "campaign domain"...
But might there be potential other issues with this?
Looking forward to seeing other members' input...
Cheers

I think ReachLocal does this so they can control the pages and track analytics on their side.
I would check if there's a robots.txt file and see if indexing is disallowed
-
Did ReachLocal put a robots.txt disallow or a meta noindex on that site?
If not, best bet would be to ask them to do so. It is possible that without that directive, their new site could be starting to rank organically.
I'd recommend adding a campaign in your SEOmoz account to start rank tracking their new site to see if it is indeed ranking for your desired keywords or not.

Has anyone tried Captora? Curious about people's thoughts on potential benefits and risks for SEO.
We talked to a vendor called Captora today and I'm curious if anyone else has tried them. It seems like it's too good to be true and could lead to issues should Google get wise to this tactic. So what are people's thoughts? watch?v=SVSCPrcXXDQ

Internationalization without losing SEO
Hi everyone ! For years we've had our e-commerce site targeting only our Brazilian customers, thus our domain name was domain.com.br . We've built a very strong AdWords account with the URLs within this domain and we've got a considerable SERP positioning as well. Now we've also bought the domain.com (without the country extension ".br"), to target international clients. Our plan is to build the site using the following structure: domain.com/en-US/

domain.com/es-ES/
domain.com/en-GB/ and also domain.com/pt-BR/ (for our brazilian audience). We thing that just dropping off the original domain.com.br and redirecting everything to domain.com/pt-BR/ would not be a good move, as we would need to redo all our AdWords campaigns (the domain is different) and would lose all our reputation/quality score. In terms of SEO I don't know how Google would react with the redirects (if we would keep the quality or not). So our plan is to keep both the domain.com.br and domain.com/pt-BR/ working simultaneously, but then there's the problem of duplicate content. Should we use the "canonical" tag and if so, where should we say the original content is? Has anyone been through this before, ie. expanding a country-level domain to a .com with multiple languages, but keeping the reputation gained by the original language. Thanks for any advice!! P.S. - We've also though about setting up the new structure with subdomains such as en.domain.com , es.domain.com, fr.domain.com, but we though it would work better using subdirectories. Any thoughts on this is also very welcomed.0 -

Google Analytics Matched Search Query Not Working
On Google analytics for our clients when you check the Matched Search Query under Traffic Sources > Overview, it says "There is no data for this view.". I have Google searched it and i am not finding my answer to why this is not displaying my information. On my personal analytics account when i clicked on matched search query it displays exactly what the person searched when it trigered my adwords ad. I have no idea why this account doesn't display the same info when it appears to be setup in the same way. Example: If i am broad match targeting the keyword "outdoor sports", and someone searched "Canadian outdoor sports for kids" It would show exactly what they searched under Matched Search Query. Anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Dear experts, We are in the process of completely revamping our website code and design to a new version of prestashop. Having mentioned that, please note that we are not changing the URL links. So, the same products links will be the same and intact. Only the content is changing. So, how this is affecting my website SEO or SERP? Regards,

I have heard of PPC company's that set up a proxy server to replicate your site so that they can use their own tracking methods for their reports. What affect if any does this have on SEO for a site?
