Dmoz & Google

If I submit an inner page/category of Dmoz to Google will it get crawled quicker?
Same question for other directories paid and free.

This was a hypothetical question and I'm working on the SEO of many sites so the URL (or lack of) on my profile is irrelevant.
I already know how to check back links already, thanks. I was purely wondering if suggesting the dmoz category (or any directory) to Google would help speed up the process of getting it crawled. My initial thought was that it should, but wondered if Google handled some of the high profile sites differently. I also known that it's all about the waiting game and to expect nothing over night!
I guess this is a tricky question to answer. Thanks anyway.

So, you got a link from DMOZ to your site and you want that to show up now!! (Cool, I understand).
First and foremost, for you and anyone who is new, if you fill out your SEOmoz profile, you will be helping yourself as much as anyone else. Here is why: For this question, what I do, no matter who has asked it, is to go to the profile to see if you have a url that might be the site in discussion. (Makes my life and yours easier). While I understand the need for secrecy and discretion, I suggest all consider this: This is not your granddad's forum. People pay or work to be able to contribute. Yes, the occasional troll takes my email address off and spams me like a sandwich, but so what. You can prevent it by marking Hide My Email Address on my profile. Easy enough.
Otherwise, to easily give you an answer requires a quick look at the site and the ability to run one of about 6 link checking software programs that we pay for. If one does not show it, often the other will. Next, if there is a url issue with the link, by being able to go straight to DMOZ it makes our lives easier.
So, final answer is this. If you are using OSE and it is not showing, try WMT to see if it shows there. Then, check a tool like ahrefs to see if it is there. Lastly, send me a domain and I will take a look.
Remember, your profile will allow others to get to know you, etc. In over three years, no one has stolen my identity even though I am really good looking and the ladies dig me man.Best to you

Sorry, I cant of got that question across correctly.
I actually meant to speed up the crawling of the back link on dmoz to the website.

Ian,
Quick answer, no. Better answer, is your site verified in GWMT? If not do that now and come back and read the rest.
OK, now go into Google WMT and look at the dashboard. Click on Health, then Index Status: What do you see? are you not being indexed or are you being indexed?
If you look at the graph, you can even see how many pages are indexed over time.
If you are concerned some are not being indexed use Fetch as Google to check that. This is the best way to handle IMO
Hope it helps,
Robert

Backlinks on Moz not on Google Search Console
Moz is showing thousands of backlinks to my site that are not showing up on Google Search Console - which is good because those links were created by some spammer in Pakistan somewhere. I haven't yet submitted a disavow report to Google of well over 10K links because the list keeps growing every day with new backlinks that have been rerouted to a 404 page. I have asked Google to clarify and they put my question on their forum for an answer, which I'm still waiting for - so I thought I'd try my luck here. My question... If Moz does not match Google Search Console, and backlinks are important to results, how valid is the ranking that Moz creates to let me know how I'm doing in this competition and if I'm improving or not. If the goal is to get Google to pay attention and I use Moz to help me figure out how to do this, how can I do that if the backlink information isn't the same - by literally over 10 000 backlinks created by some spammer doing odd things... They've included the url from their deleted profile on my site with 100s of other urls, including Moz.com and are posting them everywhere with their preferred anchor text. Moz ranking considers the thousands of spam backlinks I can't get rid of and Google ignores them or disavows them. So isn't the rankings, data, and graphs apples and bananas? How can I know what my site's strength really is and if I'm improving or not if the data doesn't match? Complete SEO Novice Shannon Peel

Can a page be penalised by Google but not the entire site?
I have recently given some content to another site for a link. When I originally checked the site, it was indexed by Google and seemed ok. However, when I tried to check that the catergory page that my content was posted on was indexed, I received and error message from Google, however the homepage is still being indexed by Google. Is that the sign of a penalty or not?

How is it possible that Interflora can bounce back from a Google penalty so quickly - is that normal?
As far as I understand it Interflora was removed from Google organic search results on February 20th. I guess no one knows for sure why they were delisted other than Google but I have heard theories such as giving flower bribes to bloggers in return for links 🙂 How sweet - and placing paid follow links inside advertorials within local newspaper sites. Whatever the reason for their de listing it seemed Google must have wanted to send out a strong message since even a branded search wasn't ranking. Fast forward 13 days to today and I now see Interflora ranking not only for their brand but also for flower delivery London etc etc... How is it possible that they managed to get back in the SERPs so quickly? Is it normal to get a penalty and be back up and running at position 1 in less than 2 weeks? Is that normal for a penalty? I was under the impression that being caught gaming Google to the extent where they delisted you was something far more serious and had much longer term repercussions?

How long before a new dmoz Will get picked up?
Hi all, I have a site which I've been trying to get into dmoz. It's taken approx 2 years and I went back recently to submit it and it was there. I hadn't submitted for a few months so can't be sure when it went in. Is there a way to get google to spider that category again so it gets picked up quicker? The site is www.nutritionmission.co.uk and wasnt showing up in my search explorer results yesterday. Thanks for your time Ian.

700,000+ Google Webmaster Messages Sent - unnatural linking Profile. What to do?
Google has confirmed they have sent out of over 700,000 messages through its google webmaster interface in February. Thats more than what they sent in all of 2011. Where does this leave us? What have we done wrong? What works going forward? Im sure many business's will be left in a very bad position over this update, people will lose their jobs. I always considered myself to be very careful with my link building as I am totally reliant on search for my business. I think something so big requires a better explanation from google. Has SEOmoz any more info on such a big update? This really needs input from the big SEO heads.
