What is the best way to have two online stores, each focusing on a specific country?
-
The dilemma here of course is that the stores will be very similar in content, with the domains only being different in that the store targeting the US will be a .com domain and the Canadian store is a .ca domain.

Hi Margaret,
Here is a link to Lisa's slides from search love 2012. I think you'll find just about everything you need there.

The correct markup really makes a difference.
I would certainly suggest keeping it on the same domain.

I missed out something...in webmaster tools you can then make sure that each section of the website is targeted for that specific country as well.

Hi Margaret,
I would advise to have them as sub domains on the same website so www.url.com/US and www.url.com/CA. You can then add canonical tags to one set of pages which will avoid any duplication. Also your link building efforts won't need to be duplicated because you will be pushing one website instead of 2.

What is the best way to target two keywords with one website?
I have a client that needs to target two different citys for her service. I have her front page ranking first page for one of the cities, but I have tried all sorts of things and can't get her front page to rank first page in the second (and less competitive) city. I know the drill about making a second page and trying to rank that page but is there a better way?

Have you been outranked by a page that is inferior in every way imaginable?
Has this ever happened to you? You create an amazing piece of content to rank for a keyword phrase that you are targeting. The content is way better than your competitor's page but they are outranking you. You have a higher domain authority.

Your page has a higher page authority.
Your page and site has higher toolbar Page Rank.
Your page has more inbound links.
Your page has higher quality links.
You have more Twitter, Facebook, and Google plus shares.
etc., etc. But still you are being unranked and you can't find a single factor where your competitor is better. What can you do?0 -
Corporate Re-Branding, How to best lead into new website?
I have a company that is going to be moving away from a name they have had for 40 years, into a name they have had for the past 10. They are becoming a bigger brand in Canada and want to move away from the west coast name. http://www.wcmachinery.net/ is becoming obsolete. http://shearforce.ca/ will be taking over for both sites. Both of the websites are identically built by a previous web company. The current root domain metrics are shown in the image provided. What do you Mozzers feel would be the best way to phase out the old site without losing the little bit of domain authority wcmachinery.net has gained? west coast machinery is also well know to its customers, so getting the branded search traffic to the shearforce site is also a priority. I am fairly certain this can be handled easily in the about page where it explains the relationship between the two companies. As a side note I have not performed any SEO work on either site as of yet. So please do not judge me based on this site! Thanks for your insights, Randy edit edit

Is there a guide to best practices for site content and blogs?
We have been working hard producing good content for our sites and now we need to know what are the most current best practices regarding placing and organizing content. We do the usual social media blast with Twitter, FB, G+ with each blog post. But it seems there is more that can and should be done. What about authorship and schema tags?
