Question about Crawl Diagnostics - 4xx (Client Error) report
-
Hi here,
I was wondering if there is a way to find out the originating page where a broken link is found from the 4xx (Client Error) report. I can't find a way to know that, and without that information is very difficult for me to fix any possible 404 related issues on my website.
Any thoughts are very welcome! Thank you in advance.

Thank you Paul, I have just voted and left a comment! Let's cross our fingers! That tool is great, but can be much improved
Thank you again.

I've created a Feature Request indicating this kind of info needs better documentation, Fabrizo. Would you go to the request I made, add your vote, and perhaps leave a comment describing how much time you lost trying to find your solution?
https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/23715458-Better-documentation-of-features-on-tool-report-pages
I've suggested this a number of times to staff while answering this question in the past but in fairness, I can see how requests here in Q&A might not get passed to the folks responsible for considering these kinds of changes. So if we help them by using the Feature Request, we can make it easier for them and hopefully other users in the future.

Yes, thank you Paul, that's actually what I didn't know! I think SEOmoz should make that clear somewhere... I spent almost 1 hour trying to find that information around the site!
Thank you again very much.

Unfortunately the report page doesn't explain it, Fabrizio, but the information you are looking for is available if you download the full report as a CSV. Once you open the spreadsheet, you'll find that the very last column is titled "Referrer" and lists the page the broken link is found on so you go and fix it.
That what you were looking for?

I've actually wondered this too because my SEOmoz report shows 404s that Google Webmaster Tools does not and I'd like to know how mozbot found it while googlebot didn't.

Google Webmaster Tools reports where 404 links originate from. I don't think the SEOmoz bundle can help you. GWMT will for sure.

Weird 404 Errors
Hi All, Although my Moz error scans have been pretty clean for a while, a law firm site I manage recently cropped up with 80+ 404 errors since the last scan. I'm a little baffled as the url it shows being returned looks like this: http://www.yoursite.com/ http://www.yoursite.com/resource.html For some reason it seems to be initiating a query to call the root domain twice before the actual resource. I installed ModX Revolution 2.2.6-PL on the site in question, and am hoping a canonical plugin I just started using will take care of these. Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do to solve the issue? Thanks for your time and any tips!

404 errors, but not showing in Google analytics
In my SEOmoz errors there are over a dozen 404 errors listed. However, they are not showing up in Google analytics. How can I find the referring url for the ones showing up here?

Initiate crawl
Anyway to start the crawl of a site immediately after changes have been made? Or must you wait for the next scheduled crawl? Thanks.

Slowing down SEOmoz Crawl Rate
Is there a way to slow down SEOmoz crawl rate? My site is pretty huge and I'm getting 10k pages crawled every week, which is great. However I sometimes get multiple page requests in one second which slows down my site a bit. If this feature exists I couldn't find it, if it doesn't, it's a great idea to have, in a similar way to how Googlebot do it. Thanks.

High level of 404 client errors
My clients website is an e-commerce based website, where customers can go on and buy products etc from the website. I placed the website onto seomoz and it cam eback with something like 18,000 errors, mostly 404 client errors, when I checked to see what the URL was from, it was a summary of an order to a client who just purchased something from the website, this was the case for alot of the errors. So i am wondering, will this harm the site's optimisation or any other part of it? and how can I get rid of these errors? Many Thanks Charlene

Best Automated Report?
I would like to implement a reporting function to my website to offer a bit of value and information to potential clients. I am thinking along the lines of a simple input form to include a business name and url. The output would be a clean, branded (my business, url, phone) report that shows opportunities, lowest lying fruit, keywords most prominent, and any errors. I found this site - http://www.analyticsseo.com/ but, it seems pretty expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions on another suite that might work? Many thanks!
