How can Floost outrank us?
-
I did a search for "Bella Thorne Jimmy Choo Maylen" and the first result that comes up is "http://floost.com/yournextshoes-post-bella-thorne-in-jimmy-choo-maylen-booties-hot-or-not-2680653". Basically they just have our site in some sort of frame, and I can't even see our site among the other search results. How do they manage to outrank us?
I never submitted our site to Floost, but normally I don't think they should hurt our SEO as it's just a content aggregator. What do you think?
-
Thank you for the response. We're actually getting very little traffic from Floost, so I guess our SEO rank in general is quite poor.
-
Thanks a lot. We'll definitely look at getting the title tag moved to the top, though I am not optimistic about it having much of an impact.
Regarding the title tags, is your opinion that having " in the title (or ") is negative for SEO?
-
Jan, I completely understand and agree with your frustration. This used to happen very very aggressively with scraper sites back in 2003-2006 times. Redirect links used to rank higher then the original sites.
At some point, Google will catchup and understand what's going on and rank your site better, but honesty, a lot of times, higher authority sites tend to rank better with minimal on-page content and in this case, as Ian pointed out, it's the summary of the post along with their domain authority that's making them rank higher.
See this if you haven't already: http://floost.com/search/search?q=yournextshoes
Are you seeing a considerable traffic from their site to yours ?
-
Hi Jan - I do see your site, #3, for the same article. That doesn't answer the annoying question, though: How does an aggregator outrank you?
While Floost has a higher domain authority (51 to your 35) the specific page on their site has zero authority or social shares.
The content that's helping them rank is the stuff that appears when you click the pull-down tab at the top of the screen.
I'm grasping at straws a little bit, but I wonder if your title tag is hurting you, just a little bit?
A couple of little things to try:
- Put your title tag at the very top of your HTML.
- Remove the " from your title tag, too.
See if that helps.

How on Earth are These Sites Outranking Us?
Hello all, My colleague and I have been doing a lot of work to optimise our companies site (www.allseasonshire.eu/). The project is still massively work in progress. While we've been analysing the SERPs for KW's we're trying to rank for we've noticed two sites that are outranking us and we can't work out why. The sites in question are www(dot)nationwide-boilerhire(dot)co(dot)uk & and www(dot)nationwideboilerhire(dot)com. They're both very small sites, with hardly any content and basically zero external links pointing to them. When we compare the root domains in OSE our site comes out on top on every single competitive metric as well, most of them by a long shot. I'm just wondering if anyone can help shed some light on why these two sites would be appearing so high in SERPs and why they would be outranking us? Any input anyone has is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ryan Edit: Keyword in question is 'boiler hire'. Thanks for your answer Nishadha, would that alone really be enough though?

I have a site that I'd love to have more keyword data on. Can making my site an https: site give me more keyword data than leaving my site an http: site? Thanks!

How better can we compare with a competitor ?
We were ranking 1st to 5th spot for the keyword, "PSD to Joomla Template" for this page, http://www.qubesys.com/psd-to-joomla-template/ for last 2 years! But since last 6 months, we are getting like 0 traffic to this page and absolutely no leads. We just tried to compare with a ranking competitor who has been on top for last 7-8 months already, www.joomla6teen.com/Convert-PSD-to-Joomla-Template.html I just compared it with my page, http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/comparisons?site=www.joomla6teen.com%2FConvert-PSD-to-Joomla-Template.html&comparisons[0]=http://www.qubesys.com/psd-to-joomla-template/ I see our page wins in PAGE METRICS , but falls in SUB DOMAIN AND ROOT DOMAIN Metrics . Whats that ? How do we know, what all things we need to improve at ?

What is a recommended sitemap generator to use for both us and our clients?
Right now we are using xml-sitemaps.com however it looks like it isn't generating an accurate or lengthy sitemap. Do you have any recommendations?

How can stie A be outranking site B?
Hi everyone. I seem to have a lot of questions the past couple of days! Take a look at these two URLs: Site A: http://www.peachstateaudio.com/products/Mixing_Consoles/Digital_Consoles/Roland/peachstate-audio-roland-m200i Site B: http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/roland-m-200i-digital-mixer I will mail 2-dozen homemade chocolate chip cookies to anyone who can tell me why Site A massively outranks Site B for the term "roland m-200i" - Seriously. Thanks in advance!

Can anyone suggest a AHREF's alternative?
Hello Everyone,
Competitive Research | | Juratovic
Now that AHref's has killed their keyword analysis I am on the search for a substitute.I just can't see paying $80 per month for their link analysis only even-though I do find their link index to be much much much more updated then any other company even SeoMoz (sorry Rand and company). Does anyone have any suggestions? SemRush is the only one I have seen to come close. Thank you! Pete0 -
How can this website be ranking so well?!
This website: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/domains?site=www.webuycarsyourway.com.au is ranking on page one for about 75% of a list of 300 car related keywords. They don't appear to have done any link building, no social media, appeared out of nowhere in April 2012 and SEMRush reports between 5,000 and 10,000 visitors per month. The only thing I can see is they have a landing page for every keyword with the keyword in the URL. But surely that can't be the only reason they're ranking well ? ?
