Can SEO companies be listed on Google Local, Bing Local, and Yahoo Local?
-
Can anyone confirm if SEO companies can be listed in the local results for Google, Yahoo, and Bing?
I'm asking because when you search for most local terms, it will return their local listings. However, that doesn't appear to be the case when searching for SEO or marketing services - or at least none show up when searching from Houston and I'm pretty sure we have quite a few SEO companies here

Great to see you here, Linda! I hope you'll love your new membership.

Hi Chase,
Both Bing and Yahoo show local results for SEO companies, but not Google, unless you use the 'in' or 'near'-type searches that Linda has pointed out. In 2010, Google stopped showing both web design and SEO firms in their local results, presumably because Google determined that most of these businesses are virtual rather than local.
There is no harm in you listing your business in Google's local products provided you comply with the rules Linda has mentioned, but organic SEO is likely to be your best area of focus/effort when it comes to Google, because of their unique handling of results for companies like yours.

YAY! Finally got around to signing up for Pro so I can help folks here.
Google does not usually show local results for SEO and web design type KWs. It's been like that for years. Same thing happens sometimes, but not consistently, for tech support or PC repair type KWs. I guess in all cases above Google assumes the company you are seeking to hire could be virtual not local.
If you are an SEO firm it's fine to set up a Google+ Local page though. Just be sure if you have a home office, you select a service area and hide your address or she is likely to delete the listing. But it's fine to have one.
If you already have a listing and just want to see how you rank in local - try searching a little different way. Instead of searching for City key phrase, search for key phrase IN city or NEAR city and that usually will pull up local results. At least in larger cities.
Example San Diego SEO - Zero local
SEO service (or company) in (or near) San Diego - all those variations pull local.Hope this helps and best of luck!

Is getting views to an infographic through Imgur beneficial to SEO?
I'm considering posting infographics to Imgur in addition to hosting them on my site in an effort to leverage Reddit a bit more this year. My concern is that, if all goes well, we'll get a ton of views through Reddit to Imgur, maybe a couple clickthroughs to the site, and links to (probably) the Imgur page. I don't see that Imgur gives your profile a followed link, so how would any of this help SEO. I assume it would, because respected guys like John Dougherty espouse the benefits of Reddit, but I can't see how and I need to justify the effort to my department head.

Google instantly suspends Google+ local listing of brand new company
I just tried to create a Google+ listing for a client. It's a brand new company. As soon as I submit the listing, I get an error message: "Google has suspended your page due to quality issues." There is no content on the listing, no website, etc. Just their NAP. All I can guess is their business address or phone number is on a blacklist due to some previous tenant/owner. Does Google keep a blacklist of addresses and/or phone numbers? Any other ideas?

Local SEO NAP issue
Hello, All of my citations addresses have the street address 913 S. Latah Street except there are other businesses in this building with the same address. Should I have included "Room H"? Also, is "S." different than "South"? Is "St." different than Street? Looking for correct consistent citations.

Google Review requirements
I'm considering asking some of our clients to leave a Google review on places page. Currently we've focused more on LinkedIn recommendations but this has not impact on local search results. So my questions is what do our clients require to leave a Google review? Do they need a Google + profile? Do they need a Google + business page? Or would a personal gmail account suffice? Appreciate any feedback you have!

Google Image Search?
We get very little search traffic from the images on our site & I can't necessarily figure out why? We post a ton & tag them correctly, we've got to be missing something? We are a Wordpress blog, can anyone provide some quality articles on Image search or have suggestions that should help to get more traffic? Our site does fairly well, as we get over 100k/visits a month, so we'd really like to get more traffic from our images.

Local SEO - Confirming an Address that Does Not Receive Mail
Hi guys, I have a question that might have been asked previously but warrants asking again. What is the best workaround for Google Local verification for a business that is located at a physical address that does not receive mail. I have a friend who lives in an area that does not receive mail. This particular person tried using a local PO box to verify, but as it turns out that is a poor option a) because it is not allowed within the guidelines of Google Local, and b) because the listing was not accepted as a unique address and is listed without an address in Local because of this. Is there anyone with recent experience in terms of getting around this and verifying perfectly legitimate businesses in no-mail areas? I would have thought Google would have provided a workaround for those types of businesses. Any thoughts / experience would be appreciated!

Google Shopping in SERPS - What % of clicks do they get?
Howdy, Looking for any data we can get on the % of click through the shopping results are getting in Google SERPs. There are tons of variables: how many products & which position the shopping feeds and images are shown in but any hard data would be helpful. The background is that we have a client who ranks #1 in Google for a shopping related term and their organic traffic is down in 2011 for this main keyword which has ranked #1 all year since the shopping feeds are continually showing above or below the 1st Google position vs sporadic or no display in years prior. I.e. They aren't happy the traffic is down & we are looking for some data we can provide them with beyond, "Google shopping is now eating part of your organic traffic for that term". Many thanks in advance!!
