On Page Grade Reports - Which to optimize first?
-
I'm wanting to prioritize my on-page optimization efforts by doing the work that will have the most impact first.
Let's say, hypothetically, that this was my on-page report card:
Grade A - 60 reports
Grade B - 20 reports
Grade C - 70 reports
Grade D - 70 reports
Grade F - 300 reportsWhere is the biggest opportunity for increasing good traffic?
- Doing more work on Grade A pages to ensure I continue to rank
- Moving mid-grade pages up to high-grade pages (e.g., raising a B to A, or a C to B)
- Moving low-grade pages up to mid-grade pages (e.g., raising a D to C, or a F to D)
-
Think of it like this:
If the grade F is on page 2 position 15, while the grade C is on page 1 position 5, would you benefit more from;
Grade C moving from 5 to 2
Or, Grade F moving from 15 to 10? -
Well, let's say I have 2 equally important keywords scored as C and F respectively. Do I impact my business more by optimizing the mid-range or the low-range. That's what I'm trying to figure out.
-
I agree; prioritizing based on the importance of the keywords can be more important than trying to move the needle for lesser important keywords.
-
Don't worry about what they are now, get the ones that make you money to Grade A asap

Hi Justin,
I'd say it depends on how important the keyword is to you. If you got a grade F for something then I assume you aren't even targeting that keyword!
Look at easy/hard the fix would be as well because some of the fixes need a considerable amount of work. As long as it is a keyword and page that is going to drive traffic and sales, I'd concentrate on moving the C's to B's and B's to A's.

Page grader says we are keyword stuffing but we arn't. Page source shows different story.
Hi community! We have just run a page grader for the keyword 'LED Bulbs' on whichledlight.com and it comes up that we are keyword stuffing! However, a brief look at the source for the homepage and there's only 6 times that LED Bulbs pops up. We do have the non plural version of the word 'LED Bulb' on the page 27 times.. do we think that would contribute to the keyword stuffing? Thanks!!

Too many on-page links
Hi, I've apparently got too many on-page links on 79 of my webpages. The majority of these pages are category pages, like this: https://www.turnkeymortgages.co.uk/mortgage-advice/mortgages/... so, what's a person to do? Obviously the page would be useless without the links. Should I just ignore these 'errors'? Or is there something else I should do? I don't want to appear manipulative by labelling them nofollow... Thanks, Amelia

Pages exclusion
Hi there! I don't want to "make relevan"t 3 of the pages my website has. Should I give them a title and a description even if I dont't want them to be shown in the SERPs? Is there any penalty from google if I don't do so? I guess no but just to confirm. Thanks!

In a perfect world I would like to enter in one domain name and have a report generated that shows All Internal links, link titles, and anchor text All internal broken links / redirects All images, image size and image alt, if the image alt is missing. I'd love to be about to export these reports to excel and quickly run my on page optimization. The goal is to produce a checklist for a developer to execute quickly. Thanks for your help Gabe

Would I be safe canonicalizing comments pages on the first page?
We are building comment pages for an article site that live on a separate URL from the article (I know this is not ideal, but it is necessary). Each comments page will have a summary of the article at the top. Would I be safe using the first page of comments as the canonical URL for all subsequent comment pages? Or could I get away with using the actual article page as the canonical URL for all comment pages?
