Show item status in GA - LIve vs sold vs unsold
-
Hi guys,
I am working with SEO for an auction site with B2C and C2C. (similar to eBay)
All item\products on our page have an unique url. The auction can last from hours to weeks.
When the item is live, sold or (finished but)unsold it still has the same url.
So when I take a look at SEO traffic to items in Google Analytics, I can't tell if the item was live, sold or unsold at the time the user landed on the page. Which makes it diffucult to analyse the traffic. Is there anyway I can make GA show the status of the item for the time user landed on it?
Best regards,
Ceran

Hey Mihai,
Thank you very much for the info, I will read about the custom variables.

Hi Highland,
Thanks for the response. I will look into it.

Hey Ceran,
I think you might be able to do that by setting a custom variable at page-level that takes the value of the auction status. You can then view it in GA by creating a custom report (the custom variables are included as Dimensions).
To use custom variables, I recommend reading this: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/gaTrackingCustomVariables
Hope this helps!

It's possible you could attach a GA Event to the point where the status changed and then cross reference it. I'm not sure how you would cross reference it in the GA screens, tho. A third party app using the API to pull your GA data might be necessary.

Custom Events Not Showing in GA4
I have some experience in successfully creating custom events for GA4 via Tag Manager, but I have one account where my events are firing in GTM but not showing at all in GA4 (not real time or anywhere). I have twice done them over and published my changes but still no luck. Any ideas what else the issue can be? There are no internal filters at the moment. Thank you.

Connect AMP to the same website GA property or not
Hi, Asking this on behalf of a client:"I know Google recommends setting up a separate GA property for AMP which they note in a few places:https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/amp-analytics/https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6343176?hl=en

From what we can tell this is because the tracking for AMP will measure things differently than the current analytics.js library. I also think it's related to the GA cookie and how it's set differently for AMP pages. But won't this cause drop-off in user journey information? For example, if a user views an AMP blog article but then clicks to our site from a link within the article. I think we would then track this as two separate users and the pages/visit would be off. I found this article which explains a tech way to connect AMP to the same website GA property but it seems a little too much of a work-around:https://www.simoahava.com/analytics/google-analytics-client-id-amp-pages/ Do you think we should just do what Google recommends and set up AMP as a separate property in GA?" --> Does anyone know if there could be any issues with this workaround?Thanks,0 -
GA Stopped Recording Visits?
Looking at my GA stats today for one of my projects and its reporting 0 visitors in the audience overview yesterday - I know for a fact this is incorrect, using the real time viewer I tracked at least 40 people on the site yesterday in the few times I checked. It is also saying 0 visitors today but from real time I can see solid activity all morning. The code is all still present and correct on the page (which you would assume given real time still works), anyone else having weird issues today? It is only effecting 1 of 12 projects.

My GA code is on my site but Google Analytics isn't being pulled into SEOMoz...why?
The CEO wants me to present an SEO plan next week for three of our sites; however, I got this message when I went to campaign overview tab: "It appears there's a problem with our connection to your Google Analytics account. Please go to your Settings page to update your connection." I double-checked the GA code and it's the same on both our site and in SEOMoz...what gives? I clicked on Choose Your GA Profile->Set GA Account and Profile then got this warning: "Are you sure you want to change your Google Analytics connection? Changing your connection will reset our cache of your historical GA traffic data." I need this data pronto so I can set strategy for three sites; any help would be greatly appreciated! Darrell

Will GA Tell Me How Often Audio Samples Are Listened To?
We have 1000s of audio book samples for visitors to listen to as part of their buying decision. Will Google Analytics tell me how often and what specific audio files have been listened to?

We have detected that the root domain is not a live URL.
I'm trying to add a URL that is having some obvious issues so I can further investigate. When trying to add this site to a campaign in SEOmoz i get the following: Roger has detected a problem: We have detected that the root domain theurbandater.com is not a live URL. Using this domain, we will be unable to crawl your site or present accurate SERP information. == What does that error mean? Where should I be looking to begin troubleshooting? The initial issue was that back on 9/1 according to Google Webmaster Tools this site began getting a high number of 500 erros and that number continued to rise up to 3200 of the same type of error. So something screwy is going on and I'm not sure where to start looking.
