Why is my ranking not improving???
-
Our site is about 4 months old now, although the domain is older. We are adding fresh new content, building good facebook/twitter/Goolge+ and undertaking good PR - but our ranking does not seem to be improving at all. Have I missed something obvious????
Thanks.

Sorry - do you mean sites we have banner/buttons on? i.e. posabilitymagazine.co.uk

Hi Jason,
It looks like you're off to quite a start but you still have a long way to go. Keep in mind that pagerank should not be the metric you focus on--it should be traffic and pagerank doesn't increase your traffic, content does--shared and linked-to traffic, that is. It's great to use your social channels and public relations but that's not enough. If your content is not currently being shared and/or linked to in numbers similar to that of your competitors, you've got to figure out why and make changes there.
With a quick look at your back links and your content quality, I'd say you're going to need to up your investment in your content. Figure out a way to make it engageable and share-able, watch this video If this is the industry you chose for your business, it's going to pay to be an authority in it to publish content that shows you're an authority. Focus on increasing and tracking those social stats for the next year or two and you'll start to see changes.

I'm sure you will get some more advice but I would take a look at your link profile and all the sponsored links you have. They should be no-follow - http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/a-reminder-about-selling-links.html

What search terms are you optimizing for? I will have a look and let you know why if you want?
I have had a look at your link profile, and I would expect you to be ranking for some terms by now -

Anyway, let me know what terms you are targeting and I will have a look

Wrong Pages Ranking
Good Afternoon We had an issue a while ago with the incorrect pages ranking in Google for some of our key terms. For example the page ranking for the term in Hotels in Spain was an individual information page for one particular hotel in Spain rather than the top level page which is optimised for "Hotels in Spain" The individual property page was ranking around 36-40 so we tightened up all the internal linking structure to ensure the term "Hotels in Spain" was pointing to the correct page and de-optimised the individual property page for the term. After a few weeks, everything seemed to be working and we were ranking top of second page for correct page however, ranking report today has reversed our good fortune and the incorrect page is ranking in a low position Any further suggestions or advise would be very much appreciated. Ideally, I don't want to remove the page that is ranking as it's still relevant for a search for that particular hotel

How much does "Sud-domain SEO optimisation" improves website ranking?
Let's say there is a website(domain) and couple of sub-domains (around 6). If we optimise all sub-domains with "keyword" we want our website to rank for.....like giving "keyword" across all page titles of sub-domains and possible places which looks natural as brand mentions. Will this scenario helps website to rank better for same "keyword"? How can these sub-domains do really influence website in rankings? Like if the sub-domains have broken links, will this affect website SEO efforts?

Help! The website ranks fine but one of my web pages simply won't rank on Google!!!
One of our web pages will not rank on Google. The website as a whole ranks fine except just one section...We have tested and it looks fine...Google can crawl the page no problem. There are no spurious redirects in place. The content is fine. There is no duplicate page content issue. The page has a dozen product images (photos) but the load time of the page is absolutely fine. We have the submitted the page via webmaster and its fine. It gets listed but then a few hours later disappears!!! The site has not been penalised as we get good rankings with other pages. Can anyone help? Know about this problem?

What is the best way to track rank?
I'm curious what tools and tracking mechanisms everyone uses to track rank, especially with all of the changes in the last year. I've read a ton of articles that say even in 2014, rank will continue to matter, but besides using the keyword rank tool in Moz, I was hoping to learn what everyone else uses to track rank on a keyword and page level (are those two separate things?).

Improve Response Rate
Hi fellow Mozzers, I have recently been trying to earn new links for my company websites by appealing to local public libraries that line up with our geographic footprint. We have store locations in 569 city, state combinations, so I am finding the local library for each city, state and asking them to add us to their website as a community reference for child care. Here is my pitch email that I am sending out.... Hi There, _ I hope this email finds you in good health and good spirits. _ My name is XXXXX and I represent <insert company="" name="">. I am reaching out to local libraries in the cities and counties where our schools are located in an effort to request local support for our schools. Many libraries across the country have reached out to us asking for parent resources and child care options in their local city. I would like to extend the same value to you.</insert> _ I would love to have our school in <insert city="" name="">be considered for placement on your public library site found at <insert target="" website="" url="">. With ample parent resources and child related materials, our school would be a great fit for your local community. We have many great parenting articles, blogs and local child care options in <insert city="" name="">.</insert></insert></insert>_ Our local school website can be found at : Our parent resource section can be found at: Who do you suggest I speak with regarding earning a placement on your site? Any information would be greatly appreciated. So far I have a response rate of about 1% and of those that do respond, none are willing to add a link on their site in any capacity since our company is privately held and not a public school option. Can anyone suggest either a better way to approach link earning on a city by city basis or help me improve my current initial email to get a better response? I really appreciate it! p.s.... some of my other link targets are city run websites, local chamber of commerce chapters (suspect this will be hard since most require a paid membership), local public school sites, and keyword targeted lists such as "child care in phoenix, az" to see what sites come for each term. Advice on these and anything I may be missing would be of great value.

Re-platform effects on Page Rank
We are performing a major replatform for an ecommerce client who has many top listings on page 1 in Google SERPs for very competitive terms. We are implementing a 301 redirect for all existing URLs that they have now to the appropriate new URLs, but the client is concerned with how deploying a new site with 100% new URLs and site structure will impact their Page Rank. From our experience, the 301 redirects should cover it but wanted to see if there is a way to predictively forecast page rank effects as a result of re-platforming.

Drop in rankings, next step
So based on a question asked yesterday, I am wondering what my next step is. Yesterday's question was, I have made updates to Title and Meta Descriptions for my client's site and suddenly they are not showing up in the top 50 for numerous keywords that they used to. The only words in the page source that were edited were "fluff" words that were replaced with relevant keywords reflected in much of the on-page copy yet now the client is not showing up. Ideas? From responses and research, it seems there's a lag time in Google to pick up the updated titles/info and these changes can cause a drop in rankings for a short time - however, I can't very well turn to my client and say sorry your website isn't showing up for a few weeks...wondering what my next step should be, or is there a greater issue I'm missing.

Keyword Ranking Question
I have recently hired a SEO company to help with our keyword. My question is what are the best tools to use to verify what that are reporting. I can do an unpersonalized search, but I am likely still getting the my local results. I have been using the SEOmoz rank tracker in the past but for some reason it is not able to retrieve results over the past day or so. Are there any other good tools to check ranking for an exact url at the for non-localized, non personalized results? Thanks for the suggestions.
