Moz email is freezing Microsoft Outlook
-
When I try and open an email message from a Moz Q&A response, it hangs Microsoft Outlook for more than 30 seconds. Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks, Keri. I opened the automated email to your post and it did not hang Outlook.
-
We're deploying a fix for this today. Thanks for your patience everyone!
-
CAN YOU PLEASE FIX THIS ALREADY!!! I NEVER EVER USE ALL CAPS, BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS. CAN YOU PLEASE JUST SEND US OLD FASHIONED TEXT EMAIL UNTIL YOU FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX THIS?
-
What's even worse: if you start Outlook and if the last e-mail to come in before the last time you closed Outlook was a MOZ Q&A one, it already freezes at startup.
I'll have to disable email notifications for now, since they ruin my productivity.
-
I don't know what Moz has in the automated email responses that is causing Outlook to freeze for more than a minute, but Moz needs to contact Microsoft. This is a serious defect in Outlook. Can you imagine if someone discovers this defect and starts blasting large amounts of email to unsuspecting users? What a waste of time that would be.
I am using Outlook 2013 on Windows 7 Pro.
Best,
Christopher -
Hi Peter,
I don't really see how this can be related to images as I have always had outlook set up not to download images.
After your response that it was related to images I edited the settings to ensure that there is absolutely no way outlook will ever try to download images, but emails from the blogs and Q&A still freeze Outlook for between 1 and 2 minutes before they resolve to show the actual text of the message...it is as if the actual text of the post itself is being called and queued.
As mentioned by Christopher above the problem does not occur with ranking reports, new crawl notifications, the Moz Top 10, Monthly Newsletter or general email from Mozzers.
At this point I can do nothing but avoid allowing those emails to open and can't even delete them without the same issue unless I am lucky enough to have them sandwiched between two other emails that I want to delete
I know it probably seems like a trivial issue if it isn't happening to everyone, but honestly, for those of us who are fairly active on the blogs and in Q&A, 1 - 2 minutes of having your mail program disabled for every email that comes from there gets out of control very quickly!
I'm sure I'm not alone when I say, Please HELP!
Sha
P.S. A heartfelt apology to all of you who just had your mailbox freeze up again because I added this post hugs

Any word on when this will be solved? I've added Moz to the trusted senders list, so it auto-loads all images.

Hi guys!
Thanks for all the heads up we have so far regarding this. It looks like the Q&A emails has an image on their outlook tries to pull from our servers, that process can cause outlook to appear frozen/crash if your version of the outlook is queueing the the server (AWS) for the image. Currently you could work around that by turning off images in your settings in outlook. You can check out this thread on MS' support hub about blocking pictures on outlook: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/turn-off-blocking-automatic-picture-downloads-HP007310739.aspx
Hope that helps, I have created a ticket for you on our end, so I look forward to talking to you!
Best,
Peter
Moz Help Team. -
Thanks to everyone for your patience while the Help Team looks into this issue!
-
We are also getting it for responses to questions!
-
Thanks, Sha. It does not happen with other automated email from Moz such as ranking reports. It's only the email from the Q&A responses.
Best,
Christopher -
Hi Christopher,
Yes, I'm having the same issue with emailed comments from the blog.
Three guesses as to what might be causing it:
- Images
- javascript objects
- the email tracking software being used
The best thing to do is go to the Help hub and lodge a ticket with as much explanatory detail as you can give. I know Mozzers are already working on it, but the more specific information they have, the easier it will be to fix it.
In the meantime, I hope it helps to know you're definitely not alone

Is the Moz Spam Score a reliable detection of PBNs?
Hello Moz community I am looking at a couple of websites to guest post on and it feels almost too easy. I am concerned these sites may be part of a PBN. Their spam scores are quite low however (6% - 11%). Is the new Spam Score on Link Explorer (not Open Site Explorer) a reliable tool to vet PBNs? I asked a member of the Moz team but they didn't know. Perhaps another will. Here is the website http://www.dspacecloud.org/ Thank you in advance for your opinions.

HTTPS Move and Moz Campaign
We moved our site over to HTTPS this week and I was wondering if I need to create a new Moz campaign? I'm aware you can't change a website address in an existing Moz campaign, however the website listed in the current campaign contains no http//www. and seems to only be entered as example.com. Anyone have a suggestion for this?

Moz metrics
This discussion is strictly theoretical... I won't hold anyone to their answer. If I have 2 websites that are identical in every way and let's say the domain authority for both is 40, and I 301 redirect one site to the other, what would the DA become? Same question for single pages, both with a PA of 40. If I 301 redirect one page to the other, what does the PA become for the remaining page?

SEO moz Report Card
I just ran some on page report cards. As I was playing around with the tool I noticed that I would get different results if I used my primary domain vs a 2nd domain. The main difference was in how the tool was counting keywords on the page. The keyword used was 'vehicle inventory' Primary domain: www.brand-state.com/inventory.htm Title = 1, URL = 0, Meta = 1, H1 = 1, H2-4 = 1 Body =1, Strong = 1, IMG Alt = 1 Total = 7 2nd domain: www.company-name-brand.com/inventory.htm Title = 1, URL = 0, Meta = 1, H1 = 1, H2-4 = 2 Body =5, Strong = 4, IMG Alt = 2 Total = 13 I can understand if the keyword was in the domain, but it's not. So I'm wondering what is going on here - any help or suggestions on what to research would be a great help. Thank you!

Moz Trust
I saw a severe drop in MozTrust for multiple sites I am working on. We have added some links this month, but would be considered 'spammy' or to be low quality. No other links appear to have been lost / removed. If we had some very high quality links before and have added some mid-level links can this be what is causing the drop? From the description on SEOmoz, it seemed to me that trust could only go up as links were added. It appears that I am missing something.

Press Release - using moz bar/OSE is reading domain not page? How? Why?
A question posed by Christopher Glaeser from early today:low PA high DA, had a follow up response from him providing 2 urls from PR WEB for separate press releases: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/11/prweb8923419.htm (HP White) On moz bar Page Analysis/Link Data = PA - 47 DA - 36 http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/12/prweb9051351.htm (Golfer's Advice) On moz bar Page Analysis/Link Data = PA - 1 DA - 96 I kept scratching my head as to how a press release of 6 weeks ago had garnered such attention from a company that would not seem to have a huge traffic due to more obscure product offering and scientific subject (Analyses of Armor Industry versus Golf Advice).
Moz Pro | | RobertFisher
Then I realized that for HP White, Link Data was not about the PR. The url from mozbar was HPWhite.com not the above, I did not notice until I used OSE where same thing was happening. When I cut and pasted the above press release url for HP White and placed it in OSE this changed: PA - 49 DA - 96 (2 links 2 linking root domains) For Golfers advice (0 links from 0 linking domains) Note to all: the links to the PR WEB release for the HP included a low end directory type link and a link from PR WEB (. For Golfer's Advice there was not a link back to the release from PR WEB: Note that Golfer's Advice is a newer release (6 weeks). So, any link from HPWhite release would equal more juice to HP White and PR Web and Vocus. Any link to Golfer's Advice from release offers......???? to Golfer's Advice and who cares to Vocus and PR Web. So, I guess this begs a couple of questions: Why the mozbar link analysis difference for one versus the other? Does PR Web treat some differently than others? Who benefits most from me paying a PR Web to do press releases for a client, PR Web and Vocus or my client and I???? I have tried to order the images to make sense: L to R top, then bottom is last. How do I add a second email to SEOmoz?
Is there a way to add a second email adress to my SEOmoz account, so that 2 people can get notifications from here?
