Still worth it to get listed on "resources" pages
-
Hello,
I'm a new moz user who handles the online marketing for www.griefrecoverymethod.com. We provide grief support groups and 1-1 work as well as professional training for caregivers. We are on some websites as a grief resource, but not as many as I think we can be on. We have never attempted to reach out on a large scale to get added to sites.
Is this type of link building worth a large campaign for us? Or has the ship sailed on link building with resource pages.
I'm fairly new to all of this so any guidance at all would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks for checking out our site. Good point on the sharing buttons. We have some minimal options on each blog but that is about it. I have a hover type social share on my to do list for sure. I will looking into "share this".

Thanks for this info. Seems like a great plan. I will look into building a strategy to hit all of these points.

I like your site (and agree about the DSM-5). Pardon me for not directly answering your question or if you've thought about this already; I notice you have your own Face Book and Twitter pages linked top right, but I can't see any social sharing buttons for people to share your content on places like their own Facebook profile to friends, Google+, Pinterest and the like.
Search engines rank social factors, they are now one of the main pillars of SEO, ergo, when someone shares your content that's like a link. I use "ShareThis" for my social share buttons, they have a range of styles. They have a hover button on the left side of their page here http://sharethis.com/ that one might look good on your site without affecting the presentation or useability.

I agree with Chris on this! You should get links from resources pages but good link profile comes from the diversification of links so if the links are only coming from 1 kind of link building tactic thin might hurt you in the future... I believe, with this you should use 404 link building, infographics, guest blogging, links within the content, manual outreaching and more...In order to have an organic and diversified link profile that ideally search engines are looking for!

Thanks for the advice. We are blogging regularly as well and I'm trying to develop some other link building strategies.
I would mainly be approaching sites with good domain authority like universities, hospitals, counseling sites etc. We have a good reputation in the community so I'm hopeful that will help us get on some quality resource pages.

You should be trying to get your site listed as a resource on those pages. But: it can't be your only strategy, as a link profile predominantly of one kind of link is not considered ideal and, be sure verify that the links on those resource pages you're looking for are well curated--there are tons of "resources" pages out there that are worthless heaps of crap links. A small percentage of reciprocal links are OK.

Nofollow backlinks - are they worth it?
As we all attempt to get backlinks for the sites we manage, I have to wonder if it's worth it at all to get a nofollow backlink. Does Google give and positive credit for a link to a site if it is a nofollow link? Obviously, the follow links are worth pursuing. I'm just trying to gain some perspective. Thanks, Wick

Where can I get a list of broken links to my client's website?
I have a client who owns a website that attracted a large number of links to internal pages of their sites. Without realising the value of those links, they removed every page of their website other than the home pages that now reads, "new website coming soon". How can I get a list of every website still linking to the (now broken) internal pages of their site?

Removing a link to a 404 page
Hi guys, If I found a low quality or spam link pointing to my site, but the link points to a 404, 500, etc (inaccessible, error page), Should I bother asking him to remove the link? Thanks

Is bold text anchor link worth the higher price tag in directory listing?
Does it make a difference with Google if anchor link text is bold? The niche directory is offering regular lifetime listing for $199 (actual page pr 6) or bold for $349 (same page, same position). Also bold link has option of including email address. Does email address have any effect on SEO? Seems like a bad deal for bold, isn't it?

Posting "similar" blog posts to multiple blog sites seems "shady", does it work?
I've read a lot of info here in the Q & A tonight and there was a thread that stated it's potentially a good thing to post content on multiple blog platforms such as: blogger.com posterous.com wordpress.com tumblr.com I've also been trying to figure out how to deal with my blog as a subfolder instead of a subdomain. That research in Q & A clearly indicates that Google treats subdomains basically like separate websites and links from my blog to my main website will not be as valuable if i stay the course with my blog on a subdomain short term. Given that, if the 4 blogging tools above all require the use of a subdomain, then how am I actually taking advantage of the seo value of blogger, posterous, tumblr? In my case my domains would be: steripen.blogger.com posterous.tumbler.com steripen.wordpress.com steripen.tumblr.com Just not adding up to being viable given what I read states these would be treated as new websites, not to mention I worry these posts, even slightly differentiated, would be suspect. Who am I truly benefitting by doing this? Users?

Anyone have a list of paid directories?
I want to get into some good paid directories, but every list I have found out there is either just a top ten and repeats the same ones or is a list of 500 where I know most are worthless. Has anyone submitted to paid directories that has a list of good ones that are actually worth submitting to?

I know that link building is one of the more important tools for great ranking and know that "paid links" may hurt a sites ranking. How do I know if a company offering link building will be classified as "paid links"
