Subdomain pdfs - do you track them?
-
We've enabled event tracking to monitor clicks to pdfs on our website. All of these pdfs are hosted in a subdomain.
The thing is, we offer some valuable pdfs that get a lot of traffic from search engines but I can't track them on Google Analytics. Do you track such pdfs?
I can't place tracking code as they are pdfs on a subdomain.
Thoughts?

No problem

Do you have your Google Analytics configured to track data across your domain and subdomain? The default analytics code is set up to track data for a single domain. To manage tracking data on both the domain and subdomain, you need to modify your analytics code.
Once you have your analytics configured to track both the domain and subdomain, you "should" be able to setup event tracking to keep track of downloads.
I hope this helps.

Thank you!

There is a solution for this by using server-side PHP tracking to monitor your PDFs, even when they're on subdomains - here's an awesome tutorial that shows you exactly how to do it - http://www.lunametrics.com/blog/2013/06/04/tracking-pdfs-google-analytics-server-side/
Hope that helped

Gradual roll out of new webpages on temporary subdomain
I’m working for a company who is looking to gradually replace an existing website with a new website. They will replace the homepage, then a section, then another section, and so on, until the new site is complete. All new pages will sit on a temporary subdomain. So, for example, the URL for the homepage at the moment is www.domain.com, but as soon as the new homepage is ready, that will be launched on a temporary URL / subdomain - www2.domain.com - replacing the old homepage. The new pages will then gradually increase on www2.domain.com (so journeys will inevitably move across domains) until the whole of the new website is ready on www2.domain.com - at which point it will move on to www.domain.com. I know this isn’t a good way of doing things - I would much prefer the new site is completely built and then it just replaces the old site with the necessary 301 redirects in place - but the company wants to see the gradual roll out of new page designs. So, my question is, what’s the best way to manage this without negatively impacting rankings for the existing domain (www.domain.com)?

Internally linked pages from different subdomain must be well optimised?
Hi all, We have guide/help pages from different subdomain (help.website.com). And we have linked these from 3rd hierarchy level pages of our website (website.com/folder1/topic2). But help.website sumdomain & pages are not well optimised. So, I am not sure linking these subdomain pages from our website pages hurts our rankings? Thanks,

App indexing with several subdomains
Hi, We are currently in the process of getting our app developed. From an SEO point of view I want the app to get indexed and am currently trying to get a step by step guide for it. I've come across this helpful guide: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/blog/how-to-get-your-app-content-indexed-by-google but need to go a bit deeper now. Questions I have is related to the "apple-app-site-association" file As far as I could find out the JSON code of that file has the following syntax: {_ “applinks”: {__ “apps”: [],__ “details”: [__ {__ “appID”: “9JA89QQLNQ.com.my.bundle.id“,__ “paths”: [ “/myPath1”, “/myPath2/*” ]__ },__ ]__ }_ } My question is related to the key "appID" I'm wondering how the entry would look like if I have 10 country subdomains and would like to make sure that the deep link clicked in the browser is going to the right subdomain page within the app. Current website structure:

Responsive design and Google analytics mobile tracking codes?
Hi all, We are currently rebuilding a site using responsive design, however i have just had a thought. On another site where we have a mobile site under a sub-directory we utilise mobile tracking codes as we found that this was far more accurate for recording visits. On a responsive design site evidently all pages, desktop and mobile, will be under the same URL, yet the content will adjust to the screen size of the device. Should we also change the tracking code to be mobile code on the lower resolutions or would the same code be sufficient?

Technical SEO Question about TLD combined with SubDomain
I am making a new website but need to figure out the best way to do this in terms of SEO. I would like the website to have functionality of brochure website combined with an online store. My issue is that I will be using software called prestashop for my online store and CMS called MODx to develop my brochure site. (These can not be combined into one CMS). I can create brochure site with MOdx = www.example.com & then from that a subdomain using prestashop for my online store = store.example.com Can I get Google to index these as one site or would I be better off trying to get everything under the TLD. Ideally I would like just one site without subdomain Bacially what I am asking is... What are the effects of having subdomains in terms of SEO? Am I better of having everyhitng under TLD? Can I get Google to view TLD and Sub as one site? Hope this makes sense, thank you.

Subdomain rewrite
Our old website had a staging subdomain that was used before I got with the company. We recently had the website redesigned, still on the DNN platform, but our staging subdomain is still showing up. The domain, staging.structural.net, shows up in serps and needs to be redirected to just the root domain. What is the best way to get this thing from working. If robot text is needed to get this subdomain from showing up, can you share? Also can you share the instructions you would use in iis to route this beast? Any advice is appreciated.

What will you do with the subdomains, keep it or remove it?
A client of us has this webpage http://www.losestores.com/ not very good in design, but it has good products.
Web Design | | teconsite.com
He is having a problem with SEO, he is in page 2 for "estores" keyword. His domain authority is 27 and is upper than other domains that are ranking in page one. The question is the following: Since the webpage began to work the programmer that created it, did the following: a subdomain per section http://estores.losestores.com/ http://cortinas.losestores.com/ http://venecianas.losestores.com/ and so on. This page is not very big one. Will you remove the subdomains and do de following? www.losestores.com/estores www.losestores.com/cortinas What will be best? Thanks Victoria0 -
Are Subdomains Beneficial?
Are subdomains beneficial? I have a client with 4 stores. As it stands, they use one domain, www.mainpage.com/store1, www.mainpage.com/store2, etc. Are there any big benefits to making these subdomains like store1.mainpage.com, store2.mainpage.com?
