How can my national ecommerce site geo target specific states for specific pages?
-
If I am selling sports related products for sports/teams across the country, how can I target specific states or cities through various pages on my website. I am using adwords but would like to use increase organic search results.
-
Hi,
I would guess that creating city/product landing pages wouldn't do you any harm. Just substitute CITYNAME in the usual places Tile, H1 tag etc.. on the catalog category or landing pages and as the products would be using different copy you should not have any duplicate content issues.
For shopping carts or static pages you could create 2 versions of the respective landing pages or page parts ie the position of banners, or alternative versions of copy and run A/B split tests or multi-variant tests which you will be able to analyse in Google analytics or a similar system. I don't know what technology you use but this facility is available in good e-commerce systems such as Magento for example.
Some companies such as CityVisitor (UK) or Infoserve (UK & INT) offer guaranteed keyword listings in specific cities but we found them a very expensive alternative to good organic SEO. Richard

You could employ tactics by using geo-DNS and you could look into the getlocal.org website I will login from my computer and give you a more thorough answer sincerely, Thomas

Hello, do i have to optimize all pages on ecommerce site, as its a lot of pages to developed unique content for my plan at the moment is to start from top down, I have completed top home, featured products etc i have also started on individual team shops my content inst unique to each page more the same and just changing the team name and keyword i was planning on doing that in the blog area of the site and just making the top categories and sub categories. and maybe in time start on the products. I can do all categories in about two months but to complete products would take like 2 years I don't feel that is productive and most would be changed or out of stock by then please take a look at my site and tell me what you think ? sportingdesires.com Kindest Regards, Stephen Kewn

Keyword Appearing on Home Page - Moz Page Grader
Hi Today I entered www.partydomain.co.uk through the Moz Page Grader and found that the Home Page is Ranked B. I noticed that an Area we could improve on is the amount of times we are using our main keyword "Fancy Dress" on the home page. Please can you take a look at www.partydomain.co.uk and scroll to the bottom of the page were the tabs are containing losts of content. I am thinking about removing all of thoose Tabs. Our Competitors dont have any content as such on the home page and are ranking higher than Party Domain for "fancy dress" What do you think ? remove all the tabs to be like the others that rank better? Or cut the text right down ? Thanks Adam

How can I get on-page analysis reports ?
I started trying out seomoz' facilities as a way to give myself a checklist of things to do-and-don't while learning SEO. Faced with a ton of new and interesting information, I started optimizing my home page and writing some content that can tell a story to people in my business. So I started using on-page analysis tools. But the campaign opening screen is telling me to wait for reports approx. two weeks. There are some reports ( not so good ones, a lot to improve ) but not the one I need most: the on-page analysis one. I set up two campaigns and I have the same problem for both. Am I doing something wrong ? Can I change my pages to make this work ?

Do product pages need unique content or does having duplcate content hurt on those pages?
We are adding product rapidly to our website but this requires allowing duplicate to exist on our product pages of furniture-online.com. From an SEO standpoint do we need to make this content unique for each product. Since we aren't link building to specific product pages and we don't anticipate product pages being found in a search result, are we ok leaving the duplicate content in place and spending our dollars elsewhere?

Too many on page links on ecommerce site
I have an online store with 10 catagories, many of those have subcategories. I have a tree style navigation menu on the page. This helps people quickly find what they need. However, I end up with about 125 links on the page that way. Does google really penalize me for this? Is there anyway around this? Advice much appreciated!

Is having the word catalog in an ecommerce site url detrimental to seo.
IS: www.example.com/catalog/category%/product% better than www.example.com/category%/product% category and product are dynamic values that change with the diff. categ. and products displayed while catalog is constant.
