Page 1 Ranking - Disappeared!
-
Hi All
We launched our client's website http://rollerbannerscheap.co.uk in January this year. We have been building links making sure we are not over optmising anchor text and only following ethical SEO tactics.
Our client's site eventually hit page 1 for it's main key word 'Roller Banner' 1 week ago, the site received impressions/clicks from the SERPS and has started to gain traffic from that particular keyword.
I have checked today, and I cannot our client's website URL within the first 10 pages of Google, nevermind on page 1.
Our client is currently undercutting competitiors on price, which we stated (the price) in the meta tag.
Is it possible other SEOs could de-rank our website? If not, what would be a likely explaination for this occurance?
Would just like to add, I recently build a link with anchor text 'Roller Banner Website, but one of my older links uses anchor text 'Roller Banners Cheap Website' - They're not exact match, but could this affect our ranking?
Awaiting help
Lewis

Hi Lewis, I'm just checking in to see if you saw John's response. Please let us know -- we're here to help! Thanks.

Hey Lewis -
Bummer that your client's site dropped. That's never fun to have happen. Let me ask a couple questions:
-
Did you make any onsite changes leading up to this happening?
-
Have you checked for other technical errors?
-
What page do you want to rank, the homepage or this page - http://rollerbannerscheap.co.uk/roller-banners/ - which is optimized for the [roller banners] term?
I suspect that you are cannibalizing yourself with this URL and your homepage targeting the same terms. You also have dual canonical tags on the /roller-banners/ page, which luckily point to the same thing but the second one is unnecessary, though the first may be easier to remove since the second is created via Yoast's plugin.
Another question - does this site sell products online or is it just lead gen? If you sell products online, it would be worthwhile to get a Google Products feed going so you can potentially rank in the Products box of the SERP while sorting out the other SEO issues.
Hope all this helps.
John

In taking a quick look at your link profile, I do see some questionable links that look very irrelevant to your site but not a lot, and none of them are real recent either.
It could just be a Google dance going on. I'd give it a few more days.
Your anchor text distribution looks just fine with roller banners cheap website around 12%. I wouldn't go any higher than that though.

I had a quick look at your site and could not find why you would drop so much. what I suspect is that your keyword was "Roller Banners" and so was your title, but now your title is no longer an exact match as you still rank well for the new title "Roller Banners From £19.99"
try changing the title back. use schema.org to mark up your product using product and offer, that way you will get the price included in serps under the url

Does building backlinks help improve Google rankings? If so which links work nowadays?
Hi Guys, Please only reply of you have real experience.... So as the title implies does building backlinks work in improving the rankings in Google? I know they are not on the same level as some are spammy, in blog networks etc but how about other backlinks that are of higher quality? If yes, what sorts of backlinks work nowadays in boosting rankings but not risking getting penalized? So should you build backlinks ongoing? If so how many per month? I have a real struggle trying to get backlinks on really high quality sites. Any advice? Cheers John

Moving Pages Up a Folder to come off root domain
Good Morning I've been doing some competitor research to see why they're ranking higher than us and noticed that one who seems to be doing well has changed their url structure so that rather than being www.domain.com/product-category/product-subcategory/product-info-page/ they've removed levels so for instance they now have: www.domain.com/product-subcategory/ and www.domain.com/product-info-page/ basically everything seems to come off the root domain rather than having the traditional structure. Our rankings for the product-subcategory pages, which are probably what most people would search for, are just sitting below the first page in most instances and have been for a while I'm interested to know other people's thoughts and if this is an approach they've taken and had good results?

Google suddenly stops ranking a page for a "keyword" with same "keyword" in title tag. Low competition.
Hi all, We have released our next version of product called like "software 11", which have thousands of searches every month. So we have just added this same keyword "software 11" as page title suffix to one of the top ranking pages. Obviously this is the page has been added suddenly with "software 11" at page title, multiple header tags and 1 mention in paragraph. Google ranked it for 2 days and suddenly stopped showing this page in entire results for the same keyword we optimised the page for. Why does it happened? Does Google think that we are overdoing with this page and ignoring it? Thanks

Curious, have you ever had a client dispute your Moz Ranking Report?
one of my international clients from China does not believe that his site is now on page #2 for a national search term. He said he had a colleague search from a location in the United States and his site did not come up in any of the top 10 Google search page results. Suggest any ways to back ranking up? Maybe use an additional rank report? appreciate any/all suggestions. THanks! Chris

Redirecting 86'd Brand Product Category Page
What would be the approach if my website is no longer selling products for a brand that is driving top organic traffic? Where should I redirect the traffic on the page? I'm trying to decide between the homepage or another similar brand product page.

Does Backlinks from User Profile Page Still Matter
Though, lot of algorithmic changes, updates have happened. However, backlinks from quality source or trusted sites has hardly lost its importance and thats why Open SIte Explorer or Majestic seo is still there to find quality of backlinks, trust factor and authority factor of the backlinks. I need to know does having backlink (dofollow) from Profile Page - still matters and if yes - will a do follow backlink from Moz Profile Page or any authority site or forum page, having dofollow link from user profile page - does it still count as a mark to authority of your site.

Drop in non-branded organic search April 1
I saw an intense drop in non-branded organic search for major pages on my site on April 1st this year. The homepage wasn't affected and it's not an annual thing. I've attached a screen shot showing the drop. I'm new to the company and recently learned that they had hired a pretty black hat company last year and I'm worried that this is Panda...although the timing seems wrong. Has anyone experienced panda effects between the two updates? I'd love to get some feedback!! 1ry2a.png
