Rel Canonical and Moz Crawl
-
we have Rel Canonical tags set up on a few pages. When viewing the page source, the tags are correct. However, Moz Crawl results show the opposite.
for example the page source, correctly shows, URL X with a Rel canonical Tag of URL Y
but.. Moz crawl is showing URL Y with a Rel Canonical Tag of URL X ..any thoughts why this would happen? which should i trust more? -
Sara, if you're 301ing a page that also includes a rel=canonical directive, the rel=canonical will not be seen because the server redirects the user before they get to the page. If the pages are identical, you can rel=canonical one to the other and both URL will be available to the user. A 301 will prevent a user from landing on that page.

looks like after today's crawl, moz is correct. (the tags were wrong on site, and we fixed it.. but it didn't show up correct in the test crawls we did earlier this week).
-
we're actually 301 redirecting the page as well. should we remove the rel canonical?
It's a product id url (open cart default) vs a keyword optimized url
We don't want the product id url showing up on search results, as the content of the page doesn't mirror the Keyword optimized url - (Shopping cart is missing, image is missing. basically it's just text)
-
Lets not be hypothetical. If the exact url is shared, may be you will get a concrete and exact reply !!
-
Assuming you are absolutely sure your page has been set up correctly, you should trust that data source more. How is Google showing up the pages when you're performing a 'site:www.yoursitename.com' search?

Crawl report shows that it gets 4xx errors for pages that work fine. Why?
On the crawl report it has all these "Critical Crawler Issues". They all say "4xx Error", yet when i click on the link from the crawler report, it goes to a perfectly functioning page, not a 404 page or anything. If i click in it actually says it's a 403 error. It's all for pages generated by the IDX solution for our real estate website. Is Moz broken or am i missing something? Here are a couple examples: <dl class="crawl-page-details-list"> <dd class="crawl-page-details-list-emphasis">https://teamvivi.com/homes-for-sale-map-search/</dd> <dd class="crawl-page-details-list-emphasis"> <dl class="crawl-page-details-list"> <dd class="crawl-page-details-list-emphasis">https://teamvivi.com/email-alerts/</dd> </dl> </dd> </dl>

Different Errors Running 2 Crawls on Effectively the Same Setup
Our developers are moving away from utilising robots.txt files due to security risks, so e have been in the process of removing them from sites. However we, and our clients still want to run Moz crawl reports as they can highlight useful information. The two sites in question sit on the same server with the same settings (in fact running on the same Magento install). We do not have a robots.txt files present (they 404), and as per Chiaryn's response here https://mza.bundledseo.com/community/q/without-robots-txt-no-crawling this should work fine? However for www.iconiclights.co.uk we got: 902 : Network errors prevented crawler from contacting server for page. While for www.valuelights.co.uk we got: 612 : Page banned by error response for robots.txt. These crawls were both run recently, and there was no robots.txt present. Not to mention, they are on the same setup/server etc as mentioned. Now, we have just tested this, by uploading a blank robots.txt file to see if it changed anything - but we get exactly the same errors. I have had a look, but can't find anything that really matches this on here - help would really be appreciated! Thanks!

Need a link rel="canonical"??
I'm getting a Craw issue in my MOZ insights which says "It looks like you're not using the rel="canonical" META attribute on any of the pages we crawled" Do we need to have a rel="canonical" on our site? I can't find a reason to use it so don't know why it would be appearing as a crawl error? Thanks

Suggestion: Moz Domain Authority should take disavow into account
Since Moz is trying to predict how Google ranks your site, and Google claims to take the disavow file into account, I'd like to suggest that Moz allow webmasters to upload their disavow file. I imagine this data would be useful to Moz in determining Domain Authority (they may even think of other ways to use it and might even help come to a conclusion on the great debate) and it gives a chance for sites to improve their Moz DA when they are bombarded by spammy links. I'd love to hear the community's thoughts on this idea, as well as the what Wizards of Moz have to say.

Moz Crawl Test says pages have no internal links
Greetings, I am working on a website, https://www.nasscoinc.com, and ran a Moz Crawl Test on it. According to the crawl test, only 2 of the website's hundreds of pages are receiving internal links. When I run a similar test on the site using Screaming Frog, I see that most of the pages have at least one internal link. I'm wondering if anyone has seen this before with the crawl test; and there is a way to get the crawl test to see the internal links? Thanks!

I requested a new crawl, this was done but my dashboard only shows the crawl done last week?
We recently moved our old website to a new CMS and structure. there have been some configuration errors and I needed to make some changes with things like canonical url's etc. However I need to check if these changes have made a difference and requested a new crawl through the crawl test page. I was emailed each time that a new crawl had been done but my reporting and dashboards still only show data from the last scheduled crawl. Regards Chris
