Google + Brand Page for Multiple Locations
-
We have had our Google Places pages up and running now for a bit, and we are looking to start our Google + Brand page. What is the best way to handle a Brand page with multiple locations? Create a page for each location so we can connect them to their Places equivalent? Create one overall brand page and not connect it to the Google Places? A lot of the information I am seeing is around a year out of date with Google saying "something is coming" but no updates since then, so how have others in similar situations handled it?

Hi David,
Google currently does not support linking a single brand page to multiple local pages. There is no ETA for when they will support this, unfortunately. Google is just saying, 'hold tight'. For more on this, here is a thread from the Google and Your Business Forum:
http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/business/fehWAQftZUI
Hope this helps!

You want to create Google+ Local Page for every one of your locations, possibly one for your brand as well. Ideally, you want a unique URL for each location as well. Once you create a page for your Google+ Local page it will automatically 'merge' your Google Places page to your new Google+ Local Page, provided you selected your Google Places page when you claimed your Google+ Local Page.
I believe what's coming, is that Google is going to force Google Places users to manage their businesses on Google+ Local.

Optimising for terms which are not in line with brand guidelines
Hi Fellow Mozzers, Happy New Year! - I have a client who run runs a leisure/recreation centre. The centre went through a change of name a couple of years ago. from XXXX recreation centre to xxxx youth and community centre. It is part of a wider organisation and so they have a 'content section dedicated to their centre. On the main landing page we have referred to the centre by both terms - however it seems from GA Search Console stats that the general public still refer to the centre by its old name. The manager would like the old term removed but I wonder whether this would impact on the SEO effectiveness of the page or not? Any Comments would be gratefully received.

Renaming of Link within Site Links - Brand Issues
Hi, We welcome your thoughts on the current problem we are experiencing: When searching for our client's brand name, their previous sponsors name is shown within the Site Links to a very important page. We are keen to change this reference within the Site Link but keep the link itself. We have untaken the following without any change to the words used within this particular Site Link: 1) Removal of previous-sponsors name sitewide: Title tags Alt attribute Anchors Page names Image names 2) Removal of sponsors name from 200+ sister sites: Title tags Alt attribute Anchors Page names Image names 3) Modification of [previous-sponsor + client] within Wikipedia:
Branding | | PhilYarrow
There were 250+ mentions of the sponsor + client within Wikipedia. References have either been deleted or changed to past tense. (Google has been extremely slow at indexing these changes.) 4) Removal of off-site mentions:
After using Advanced Filters within OSE, we extracted all links that included the previous-sponsors name. We filtered these by DA and approached these sites and requested they update their links/on-site content to include the up-to-date name. This included large news organisations and reference sources. We also used Google operators (inurl, inanchor, intitle) to search for references mentions of [previous-sponsor + client]. We used Buzzstream to collate this data and contacted hundreds of sites sorted by DA. 5) We have twice requested demotion of the Site Link via GWT without success. Google clearly see's the Site Link as too important to remove it. The following is useful background information:
The [client + previous-sponsor] worked together for 5+ years. Our client is known by it's own brand, but it was also called in certain arenas as [client + previous-sponsor].
Fresh mentions of [client + previous-sponsor] are frequent. Examples of this are from collectors merchandise and videos that are posted frequently. The page being shown within the Site Links is essential. It cannot be moved. With a PA of mid-70's.
We have changed the Title of the page multiple times, without any change to the Site Link. Thanks

How to feature in Google restaurant reviews?
Hi, When I Google a restaurant name here in the UK - try "fat duck bray" I see the photo of the restaurant on the right hand side, the Zagat review score and then right at the bottom of this section there is "More Reviews" with links to Urbanspoon, com, qype.co.uk, Zagat.com and Blackbookmag.com (often TripAdvisor will appear here too.) To one of the sites I work with these are all the competition so the natural question is how would one appear here? I've never seen anything covering this before so interested if anyone else has read anything on this or has any experience on this. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Is Rel=author appropriate for non-article type pages, a.k.a. business websites
I understand I can use Rel=author with Google+ for article's I write, and I understand I can use the same code for regular websites, which I'm still waiting to see show up in the SERPs, but my question is as follows... Is Rel=author appropriate for regular business websites (since we are business owners, not authors of articles), or is there some other Schema.org tag that should be used which will also show our images in the SERPs? I'd like my business logo to show up in the SERPs for my business page and my personal photo to show up for my blog pages.

How can I increase my brand signal for a common phrase?
We are having trouble with SEO branding. When I search for "designquotes" with the quotes, our site appears with sitelinks and it's great. However our brand name is Design Quotes. Which sometimes we aren't even first for. If I search for designquotes without the quotes, still no luck. Should we do lots of link building for Design Quotes or should we start calling ourselves DesignQuotes and build links with that as the anchor text? website is designquotes.com.au

Changing a "city" or "town" location in google maps
Hello Mozinators! I have a client I currently work with doing SEO that has a rare problem that I have not come across before nor have I been able to find any information on how to make changes for it. The problem being that the city/township is more of a community that has yet to officially be labeled as a city, yet is still marked as a town on google maps. This is a great step in the right direction however the google maps location is over the wrong place. I have attached screenshots of the google maps for this location. In the top is a place called "Lakewood Ranch" and it is not in the correct spot. Lakewood Ranch should instead be in the bottom corner of the overview screenshot, where the town center is and the medical center off of the "University PKWY" exit. I have absolutely no idea on where to start to get these changes put in place, nor if they can even be put in place. Please let me know! Thank you so much in advance! a86TM.png u1ipV.png

What do i do with multiple cheap domain names I want to use for SEO?
My domain registrar was having a sale for 1$ per year .com domain names (just for the first year). So I went all out and bought 16 domain names. They pretty much all are two or more keywords that i'd like to rank high on put together. We do dedicated server monitoring, so for instance I bought apachemonitoring.com and haproxymoniotring.com. Can anyone tell me what the best way would be to put these to good use technically? Options: Each domain just 301's to a specific landing page on my main company website Each domain is a site on a drupal multisite with just one page that has links to just my company website Other ideas? Thanks in advance! Walter
