Wordpress: Should your blog posts be noindex?

Wordpress defaults all blog posts to no index/nofollow
Is this how it should be handled? I understand the nofollow from the page.com/blog to the page.com/blog/blogtitle
But why noindex? We have Yoast installed and this is the default.

If your blog posts are substantive in length and do not contain duplicate content then I would index/follow them. A good blog post on a popular topic can bring in a lot of traffic.
Category pages can also be set to index/follow if they contain very short excerpts of the blog posts and if they each have enough content to be substantive. When a blog is new and you have just one or two posts per category, each consisting of a short excerpt then I would not index them. What you can do is wait until you have several posts in a category before you start a category page.
A superior method of category page treatment, in my opinion, is to create a page that present all of your posts in a organization that is more logical the chronological default that you get in wordpress. Get a great image for each post and create a page that has your best posts, most popular posts, most recent posts presented for the visitor. New visitors should see your best or your most popular. Returning visitors want the new stuff. If there are posts that you want everyone to see they can be placed in a prominent position. This page can be rearranged if there is something hot in the news and you want to call attention to your writing on that topic. This will be a growing adaptive page that is much more visitor friendly than the chronological.

You blog posts should be indexed and followed. It may just be the default so development pages do not get indexed by search engines.
I would recommend using no index tags on the various category, archive, and tags pages that are created when using a WP blog. These pages can lead to a lot of duplicate content problems.

Wordpress 4xx errors from comment re-direct
About a month ago, we had a massive jump in 4XX errors. It seems the majority are being caused by the comment tool on wordpress, which is generating a link that looks like this "http://www.turnerpr.com/blog/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.turnerpr.com%2Fblog%2F2013%2F09%2Fturners-crew-royal-treatment-well-sort-of%2Fphoto-2-2%2F" On every single post. We're using Akismet and haven't had issues in the past....and I can't figure out the fix. I've tried turning it off and back on; I'm reluctant to completely switch commenting systems because we'd lose so much history. Anyone seen this particular re-direct love happen before? Angela

Wordpress Woocomerce Recommended SEO URL structure
Hi Mozzers ! Thanks for looking. I have a new shop in development (http://www.vintageheirloom.biz), I'm now using WordPress & Woocommerce. I've asked Woocommerce whether it is possible to remove the 'shop' and 'product-category' categories. They say it is, but it isn't recommended, it can slow site speed & create possible duplicate pages. I'm wondering what seasoned SEO experts opinions are on my particular structure? I've heard that a flat structure is recommended, but ecommerce shops as I understand pose their own issues, so any feedback would be appreciated.. Here's some URL examples: http://vintageheirloom.biz/shop/bags/ - this for the category bags http://vintageheirloom.biz/product-category/bags/shoulder-bags/ - this for shoulder bags a child of bags category http://vintageheirloom.biz/shop/2-55-bags/vintage-chanel-caviar-skin-2-55-bag/ - a product The last URL contains the category 2-55 bags. The products name also includes the phrases 2-55 bag. Should this level of repetition be avoided or is it best to keep the whole phrase 'vintage-chanel-caviar-skin-2-55-bag/' for SEO purposes? Best way to implement noindex tags on archived blogs
Hi, I have approximately 100 old blogs that I believe are of interest to web browsers that I'd potentially like to noindex due to the fact that they may be viewed poorly by Google, but I'd like to keep on our website. A lot of the content in the blogs is similar to one another (as we blog about the same topics quite often), which is why I believe it may be in our interests to noindex older blogs that we have newer content for on more recent blogs. Firstly does that sound like a good idea? Secondly, can I use Google Tag Manager to implement noindex tags on specific blog pages? It's a hassle to get the webmaster to add in the code, and I've found no mention of whether you can implement such tags on Tag Manager on the usual SEO blogs. Or is there a better way to implement noindex tags en masse? Thanks!

Wordpress Categories and Over-Optimization Question
I would like to switch my sidebar from listing Category Name with posts listed below each- to a concise custom menu. This custom menu would list the top three products I am promoting first, and then go on to list the categories on my site. Understanding Duplicate Titles in Wordpress
I have duplicate title errors in Wordpress and I cannot pinpoint the problem. I have my blog set up so that the home page of the blog has the most recent posts. In my campaign report somehow the page directory is being found and I can't find any links on my blog to those pages. the errors are on pages that are like the following www.example.com/blog/page/13/ www.example.com/blog/page/14/ I am using Yoast and I thought I had it set up correctly. The other pages have the correct title and canonical tags, but he urls ending with page do not, but the page directory is duplicating the home page title. How or where can i fix this issue?

Syndicating With Blogs
Hey all, The idea is that whenever i post a new article on my blog on my "money site" would it be OK to syndicate the same article to all of my other blogs like wordpress, tumblr etc? So for example the exact same content that is on my website will be on myblog.wordpress.com and myblog.tumblr.com but with a URL at the bottom pointing to the original source. (the money site article URL) Are there any foreseeable problems with this? The objective being having the content distributed across the web as much as possible I apologise if this has been asked before, i could not find the answer. Regards Greg
