Time to get reconsideratio n request?
-
Hi there, recently I have been getting failed reconsideration requests back within 7 days. The last one i submitted (third) is now 2 weeks and no message back. Does this mean do you think it's gone to the next stage of auditing? is it a good sign?
Typically when failed I have always has that response within 7 days. I also noticed a slight improvement in rankings but no message back in webmaster tools.
Does anyone have experience with this? if so does this sound about right? thanks guys.

Unfortunately, they aren't very consistent about this. They've gotten better about communicating eventually, but it's really tough to say whether a delay is a good or bad thing. One thing I'd warn about is not resubmitting too often. If you're getting multiple failed requests, Google could start to devalue future requests.

I cant really comment on what their exact process is in there but I have experienced getting an RR rejected even after 3 weeks.
In theory, i think when you submit a disavow list, it gets processed in a few hours. Your RR will then be viewed by some outsourced personnel in Asia where they can read your RR (when it's your turn after a queue) then cross check from their "culprit links" database (from manual penalties) to see if you have indeed included those links in the disavow list. Then they send you an email telling you that you missed some links along with a couple examples. lol

Do you think the longer it takes the better sign it is that it might be removed?
I have a theory that it might go through stages of auditing?

they will reply to you even if it takes them over 3 weeks. I've never had an RR go past 3 weeks. Just wait a few more days.

PDF best practices: to get them indexed or not? Do they pass SEO value to the site?
All PDFs have landing pages, and the pages are already indexed. If we allow the PDFs to get indexed, then they'd be downloadable directly from google's results page and we would not get GA events. The PDFs info would somewhat overlap with the landing pages info. Also, if we ever need to move content, we'd now have to redirects the links to the PDFs. What are best practices in this area? To index or not? What do you / your clients do and why? Would a PDF indexed by google and downloaded directly via a link in the SER page pass SEO juice to the domain? What if it's on a subdomain, like when hosted by Pardot? (www1.example.com)

Link juice am i getting it or not?
We have a newspaper source that links to a domain that forwards to a page on our website. Do we get link juice from that? Go here: https://dailygazette.com/ click on "Classifieds" then "CapRegion Homes" the button goes to the website www.capregionhomes.com which forwards to our main website, a page we built for them. My question is: Because the link from this site first goes to another site that auto-forwards to us are we actually getting any link juice from the daily gazette on this or is that first site getting all the juice & we technically are getting link juice from capregionhomes.com ?

Deleted Rarely Visited Pages - Traffic Dropped (Big Time)
Hi folks: I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have on a problem I am having with organic traffic. One of our sites has about 500 pages/blog posts. We had about 200 pages that no one was visiting, or only one to ten people had visited in an entire year. As a result, we decided to experiment, and delete any page which had fewer than 5 visits in a year. This resulted in a deletion of about 90 pages. We did this on April 6 or 7 of this year. Two days later, we had a substantial drop in visits to the site. We had been getting about 300 sessions a day. Now, we are lucky to get that in a month. I know there was an algorithm update in late March, but our traffic dropped about two weeks after that, and a day or so after the deletion of the pages. There is a clear demarcation on analytics. I gave it a month, the traffic did not recover, so we decided to restore the pages. Traffic has not recovered and it has been about 3 months now. Does anyone have any thoughts on why we might have experienced such a drastic drop as well as what we might do to recover from it? Thanks very much

Do PPC clicks get attributed to "Organic" in Analytics?
Hey guys, This month I started running a PPC campaign for a client and have noticed that none of the click data is showing up in Analytics under "Paid". However, under the "Organic" section, I've noticed that we're gaining a lot more clicks through to the site for some of our targeted keywords than we have been in previous months. Is this just a coincidence or is the PPC click data being used under the Organic section of Analytics?

Getting Traffic for an Unranked Phrase
Over the last month, 40% of a client's search traffic as resulted from a phrase that they are not even ranking for in the top 100; nor are they popping up on PPC ads for it. How is this happening? I feel like I am missing something very obvious.

Get Stats on Search Box Usage, Using Google Analytics?
Let me preface this by first saying I am NOT using the Google Adsense Search feature. The question I am asking is pertaining to the standard search box that comes already coded in most .php blogs. In the Google Analytics, is there a way to tell how many people are searching using the search box? I've looked through the navigation and pathway options in analytics and I don't seem to see anything that definitively points to the number of people using the search box but, perhaps, I am overlooking it. Any insight?
