Can anyone recommend a firm for cross-browser testing?
-
I'd like to outsource the cross-browser testing and get complete functionality testing across browsers too. I work for an online travel tour operator, so we take a lot of reservations online. I don't totally trust my internal resources using tools like Selenium because we're adding a lot of new functionality to our new site - saved itineraries, wish list, some upselling and cross selling functionality, selling insurance, etc. So, while of course I want to be sure everything renders properly across browsers, I also feel like the investment in having someone check booking process in all browsers/technologies is critical especially since many of our customers are accessing our sites using older browsers.
Thoughts??

Can you use a base element and mod_rewrite to alleviate the need for absolute URLs?
This is a follow up question to Scott Parsons' question about using absolute versus relative URLs when linking internally. Andy King makes the statement that this can be done and that it saves additional space (which he claims then can improve page speed). Is this a true and accurate statement? Can using a base element and mod-rewrite alleviate the need for absolute URLs? I need to know before going off on a "change all of our relative URLs to absolutes" campaign. Thanks in advance! Dana

How Important is Title Tag while viewing in browser's tab
Hi SEOmozer,I have a dumb/silly question. Ok, I know Title tags are important for SEO and users and it shows up in the SERP and all that. My question is that, using a weird CMS, I have the title tag implemented and it appear in the SERP the way I want it. However, the problem is that when I hover over the tab on the browser, it doesn't appear the same way it is in the SERP. Does that really matter that it appears differently? I checked the HTMl and this what I got<title>Example Keywordtitle><meta name="layout" content="main"/><meta name="description" content="Keyword 1 | Keyword 2 | Company Name"/>So whats within the "content" is showing in the SERP and what is in "title" tag is showing in the browser tab. Shouldn't they be the same?

Does anyone think the <figcaption>attribute from HTML5 will have any influence for image search?</figcaption>
There is a <figure>element that is supposed to provide better descriptions of image on the web in HTML5 - do you think that will replace the importance of the "Alt" tag? Link to figcaption description </figure>
