How do yo get local SEO to show up on search results
-
I am looking at an example of search results that displays the image below. I wanted to have the local address to the right of my website. How do I have something like this?
-
Hi Herlamba,
What you are seeing in your screenshot is an iteration of Google's knowledge graph for a local business. In order to qualify for such a display, your business must meet Google's requirements. These are:
-
You have in-person transactions with customers, either at your place of business (like a restaurant) or at their homes or businesses (like a plumber)
-
You have a physical address that is not shared by any other business and is not a virtual location of any kind.
-
You have a unique local phone number that is not shared by any other business. This should not be a toll free, vanity or call tracking number.
If you can say yes to ALL THREE of the above requirements, then you qualify for inclusion in Google's local index.
Your first step should be to acquaint yourself thoroughly with the Google Places Quality Guidelines:
https://support.google.com/places/answer/107528?hl=en
You will then be pursuing local visibility via a variety of methods, including:
-
Developing a strong, crawlable, locally-optimized website
-
Creating a Google+ Local page for your business
-
Building citations for your local business in a variety of local business indexes like Yelp, Best of Web, HotFrog, etc. You can use a free tool like GetListed.org to make this process easiest.
-
Earning reviews on a variety of platforms, including on your Google+ Local page
-
Other forms of marketing including, but not limited to, linkbuilding, Social Media, video marketing, etc.

You will want to study Local Search Ranking Factors 2013 to see a worldwide industry survey that organizes which factors have most influence on Local Rankings. http://moz.com/local-search-ranking-factors
Once you have built a clear enough cluster of data about your business on the web, Google will be able to index it all and is likely to display a knowledge graph like the one in your screenshot for branded searches for your business, or within the local pack of results.

I rephrased the question a bit so that it's not too confusing. I don't have a SEO company, I just have a company that I want my address to show to the right of it
-
Do you mean you have an SEO company that you want to show up in local results? Google hasn't considered web design and SEOs to be local for some time, so that won't show up. If you don't mean an SEO or web company, what type of company are you trying to get to show up, and we'll see if we can lend a hand.

To lay the "foundation", you will need to ensure your markup on your website is correct, your website will also need to link back to your company's G+ page. Here's a good article on correct markup techniques, which will help your local seo:

Google Image Search - Is there a way to influence the related icons at the top of the image search results?
Google recently added related icons at the top of the image search results page. Some of the icons may be unrelated to the search. Are there any best practices to influence what is positioned in the related image icons section? Thank you.

Hi, My website chka.org is showing up in Google but this page is not : http://www.chka.org/kickboxing-classes-nyc/ I cannot figure it out why. I submitted in manually to be crawled and it showed up for a day or two and then it disappeared again. The website is not copy pasted, it has unique content.

Sitelinks in non-brand based organic search results
Hi all, I have a question for everyone. Sitelinks have been around for a while now & I've always seen them when the search is for a brand's name. However, today, when looking at the rankings for one of the campaigns we manage, we noticed there were sitelinks in the number #1 & #2 positions in Google (Australia) for the search term "Dance Costumes". Whilst both the companies have Dance Costumes in their title, so do all the other results & so I don't see why it warrants the sites to be relevant via their brand name.

Note: The results are organic results, not paid results (where you can add sitelinks). Firstly, has anyone seen this before (screenshot attached)?
And secondly, is there markup/schema that allows you to do this (none that I know of)? danceCostumes-sitelinks.png0 -

Domain changed 5 months ago still see search results on old domain
Hi, We changed our domain from coedmagazine.com to coed.com in April'13. Applied 301 redirects on all pages, submitted 'change of address' to google but we still see site:coedmagazine.com fetching 130K results on google as opposed to site:coed.com fetches 40K results. Can anybody here throw some light on what might be going wrong? [ Site runs on wordpress, hosted with wordpress as well ] thank you

Wordpress.com content feeding into site's subdomain, who gets SEO credit?
I have a client who had created a Wordpress.com (not Wordpress.org) blog, and feeds blog posts into a subdomain blog.client-site.com. My understanding was that in terms of SEO, Wordpress.com would still get the credit for these posts, and not the client, but I'm seeing conflicting information. All of the posts are set with permalinks on the client's site, such as blog.client-site.com/name-of-post, and when I run a Google site:search query, all of those individual posts appear in the Google search listings for the client's domain. Also, I've run a marketing.grader.com report, and these same results are seen. Looking at the source code on the page, however, I see this information which leads me to believe the content is being credited to, and fed in from, Wordpress.com ('client name' altered for privacy): href="http://client-name.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/could_you_survive_a_computer_disaster.jpeg">class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2050" title="Could_you_survive_a_computer_disaster" src="http://client-name.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/could_you_survive_a_computer_disaster.jpeg?w=150&h=143" I'm looking to provide a recommendation to the client on whether they are ok to continue moving forward with this current setup, or whether we should port the blog posts over to a subfolder on their primary domain www.client-site.com/blog and use Wordpress.org functionality, for proper SEO. Any advice?? Thank you!

How to get videos to show up on SERPs as your own
If another site hosts the video and you show it on your site in an iframe, would the video show up in SERPs on your URL? I believe it would show up on their URL. Do you need to host the video on your own server in order for it to show up on SERPs?
