What's on your ultimate online marketing wish list?
-
Hi everyone! I'm one of Distilled's new online marketing analysts and will be writing my first blog post for them right before Christmas! I'm thinking about writing a post that combines the holiday spirit with what we all wish Google would give us. So fine people of Moz Q&A, tell me, if you could have anything from Google, no matter how ridiculous, what would it be and why? Any great quotes may even be featured in the blog post itself and attributed to you! Thanks everyone and happy Friday!

adwords- I would love a compare date range view in adwords like they have in analytics
-
A Google tool that has the option to allow webmasters to manually approve EVERY SINGLE Link. Or it will not count towards rankings.
-
Authorship as a ranking signal! (See here)
It's inline with the algo's focus on high quality content and "users will like x because they loved y"

Absolutely keyword data!
Also, I've always wanted a better third party traffic measuring system. Everyone here knows that the services like Alexa, Compete, Quantcast, etc. all vary widely in the numbers they report and are oftentimes woefully inaccurate when comparing the data to a site's internal analytics. And considering these companies are able to make millions off of their services, I think it would make complete financial sense for Google to enter this space. And I have no doubt they could dominate the market immediately since they pretty much know everything about every person as well as the majority of websites, so their data would be much more accurate and reliable than anyone else's.

Oh, and a button to click "give me no personalization, localization (beyond my country), bias, inference, or voodoo magic in my results"!

Anything from Google? A million dollars!
But seriously, I second Keri's post. I would very much like my keywords back. I can manage without them myself but management doesn't exactly like that I can't magically turn [Not Provided] into actually provided. I'd also like the previous AdWords Keyword Tool back. Its not that the current Keyword Planner doesn't work fine... it just feels like they've cut out a bunch of functionality for no good reason.
And from the more personal and non-search/marketing/etc. side of things... I would like Google to send me a free pair of Google Glasses except I want the earbud attachment on the left side because I have impaired hearing on my right.

I'd love our keyword data back!
More exact numbers and fewer estimates/ranges in things like GWT.
-
Unlimited budget would be very helpful.
I know this is not helpful for you but free adwords would make life much better and a high end marketing team combined with full stats of all my competitors.

Community Discussion: The hardest (& most surprisingly valuable) thing you've gone through for your SEO career?
In the comment discussion for Thursday's blog post, An Essential Training Task List for Junior SEOs, there's been mild debate around some of the items, such as having a Junior SEO build a website by hand. It's a fantastic comment discussion (the kind that makes a blog manager's heart sing), and it's got me thinking. We've all gone through the wringer when it comes to boosting our careers. Heck, I was a poetry major and found myself learning SQL last week. What hurdles have you jumped that have been painful and challenging, but have taken your career to the finish line? Maybe even gotten you the gold?* What would you recommend to newbies just starting out (or warn them about)? *Yeah, I got Olympic about it. I went there. 🙂

EMD's How much should you offer for a good one?
Hi Everyone, I am launching out into an e-commerce site and I am looking at purchasing an EMD as my brand. The brand of product I am selling is different "brand" but the e-commerce brand I will be building will be for a three word keyword that is competitive and gets great traffic. My questions are these: 1. Is an EMD worth it? The asking price is $42k for a site that is a keyword that gets 60k searches per month. 2. How much should offer without being rude to the seller? 3. The $42k represents a significant portion of my start up cash. Forget converting, (that will be an ongoing tweak that I am committed to perform) will a good EMD help brand the site and drive the traffic? My thinking is that with social media and ppc you could burn through that money and not be any further ahead. Thanks a ton in advance for the weigh in. Happy Holidays everyone. Gary

Is there a really good place to find high end, cutting edge web developers online.
My issue is that I know there are a lot of web developers in the world and all of them are great just like all the great SEO's in the world. Does anyone know of a great place to find really top talent that is the kind where the people are constantly stretching and trying new things, etc.

Is there a web dev board the better ones are on, etc. Any luck in other areas? We have a position available, but will not fill it with anyone average or above average. I really would love to know what boards, forums, etc. I can find them on, but every search lists 50 boards and, the is not my everyday world. I just do not know which are the ones that will put me in front of the best in the world. Any help is appreciated. Robert0 -
Product Schema - Not supported if you don't actually sell the product online...
Based on this answer from Google, http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=146750 you can't use the product schema if a customer has to make the purchase offline or at another retailer. Does anyone know why they set it up this way? Has anyone ever tried to use product markup on a website when the product is purchased offline? Also, is there another solution or another markup that would apply? Thanks!

Question on Google's Differentiation
Hi everyone, We have a short question that probably has a very long answer: What are all the ways that Google differentiates one search result from another? This is really important for us to know and, up until now, we can't find a really good and complete source that explains this. Thank you in advance.

SEO hosting (EU/Spanish IP's) any1?
Hello all, I'm currently trying to find a great hosting company which can offer a fast and stable service and more important, with the possibility of geolocalizing IP's of Europe and concretely for Spain. I've found Ixwebhosting but they only offer US Ip's, as their datacenters are there. I don't know if it's the same thing outside spain, but here the hosting companies only use to have a single "C-class" range so even buying them different IP's doesn't help that much, and it isn't cheap (2€/month/ip...). So if you know someone offering what I'm looking for (or really close to it) drop a line, I'll appreciate your help! 🙂
