Go Daddy Ultimate Hosting?
-
I host several websites for my clients in my Go Daddy account. I've currently got each site on it's own hosting plan (about $5-$9 per month per site) but I was recently on the phone with Go Daddy and they suggested migrating everything to an Ultimate hosting plan, which allows me to host an unlimited number of websites, sql databases, etc for a set price. Will this negatively effect my SEO as all of my sites will essentially be tied together? I can save a few hundred dollars per year, but it's definitely not worth it if all of my clients' sites tank.

As others have mentioned, unless you are using dedicated servers it's likely most of your accounts are already closely related IPs and/or c-blocks already, so switching to a combined account will likely make little or no difference.
In my personal opinion, I'm not a huge fan of Godaddy for my own hosting as I have a perception of a lot of low-quality sites also hosting there, which could influence my performance if they share the same server as myself, or spam from the same IP. I perfer to go with dedicated hosting or choose a slightly more pricey host to "raise the bar" on my neighbors. Probably doesn't make a big difference in the end but I have my superstitions.

sorry, just saw both this q&a question and the news article within a few minutes of each other so just posted in case of interest, certainly not advocating an opinion either way just sharing the info.

Dan - Lets leave political commentary to other forums. It doesn't belong here in an SEO forum. I think Parsons is a sexist idiot, but you can find fault with any and every major organization or person. We don't want to turn this valuable area into everyone's place to post info on their personal cause(s).

There shouldn't be any SEO downside as all the "micro" hosting accounts will have, is the same IP, and that's is no longer considered when ranking a Website.
You can also have more than 1 IP address on the server and assign a different IP to each site, that can help you prevent possible spam generated by one of your customers that if they share the same IP all of them will be affected.

If your websites link extensively to each other thus forming a "Private SEO Linking Network", then yes, having it all together on one Server or Data Center is a bad thing.
However, just because each website has its own hosting plan with Go Daddy doesn't mean that they are on different Servers or Data Centers. Odds are, they are all probably in the same Data Center anyway (physically located in the same place).
Chances are, moving to an "Ultimate Hosting Plan" will not result in any changes to your websites; it will just be an "Accounting" change.

Hosting Sites under same IP / subdomain usage?
Hello everyone! The company I am working for is working on selling websites templates to clients in the near future. In terms of SEO purposes, would it be detrimental for our clients if we hosted all of these sites under the same server/IP? Also, in the past we've sold sites under a domain we own, adding them on as a subdomain. For example, we would own yourflowers.com, and if Mark's Flowers wanted a site, we would give him: marksflowers.yourflowers.com These sites are going to be the same niche as we are industry specific (example would be, we sell website templates specifically designed for flower shops around the United States). I want the best possible SEO experience for our clients and I believe using subdomains and hosting under the same server IP can be detrimental, but I wanted to see what the Moz community thinks of this. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks

Will Moving to a Different Country Hosting Affect my SEO?
Hello Mozzers, I have a website with the country specific TLD. It's very new (less than a month old) and already started ranking for the main target term (It's #5 as I write this). It's a somewhat exact match domain. Right now I am on shared hosting and the way in which the site is growing, I think I might need to move to a VPS soon. Right now, I pay extra and chose a shared hosting in my own country. But VPS in my country is very costly. I'd get twice the features if I go with a US hosting provider for the same price. If I move to a new VPS outside of my country, would it affect my rankings? What do you think? Thanks.

Multiple domains on the same hosting
Hello, I have around 80 sites (different domains) which are on the same host. Everytime I look up the IP of these domains, it gives me the same IP. The sites are interlinked, all linking to the main domain. My question is: Does the off site link building have effect on the 80 sites?

Are they going to deindex everyone?
Looking at the over-optimisation list it pretty much seems to me something that everyone is doing so are we suddenly going to find the best results actually de-indexed. Maybe Google will slowly shut off indexing stage by stage so everyone changes. What are your thoughts?

Cloud Hostings & SEO Effects
Is there any negative to cloud hosting? I believe they share the same IP addresses but is it true you can still get banned if someone else on a shared IP or server does some spam?
