Want Your Opinions on Search Marketing Conferences in US
-
If you could go to any search marketing conference in the US in 2014, which one would you choose and why?
-
I would recommend mozcon and distilled events - They are great for networking
-
Whoops! I forgot about that one! One day I will go to that conference - but it would be good if they held it in London too one day.
I'll shift my vote

Hi Brad,
Great question and I'm glad you asked it because I am planning out which conferences I'll be attending this year and trying to decide where to spend the money, just like you
Here's my personal experience and also what I've heard from asking and talking to lots and lots of people:
Mozcon, to me, is an absolute must. It's also great for me because I live in Olympia, so, no need for a plane ticket.
Last year I attended Jessica Bowman's In-House SEO Exchange in Santa Monica. It was a very different event, specifically for in-house SEOs, very small, but VERY worthwhile. If she offers it, I will do it again.
I have heard that PubCon, while probably of value from a networking standpoint, is not the best conference to go and get great takeaways and learn a lot. Basically, I've heard it's a wild party. In all fairness, I've never been. Don't get me wrong, I love a wild party, but given what I've heard I don't feel right asking my company to pay to send me to that one. Maybe if I paid for it myself I'd consider going.
I've heard that SMX West is good, but that SMX advanced is better, particularly if your intending on learning a lot by attending. That's the kind of thing I'm really lookng for, so, for me, SMX Advanced is probably going to become a must for me this year and probably future years.
The one conference last year I didn't attend and that I really regretted missing was InBound 2013. I was following the blog posts and Tweets coming out live from the event and if the atmosphere they conveyed was anything close to what was actually happening, I want to be there next year, really bad.
For me now, the question is: If I absolutely HAVE to chose one (in addition to MozCon and the InHouse SEO Exchange)....would it be SMX Advanced or InBound 2014? Personally, I am leaning towards InBound, but I think SMX Advanced will be an easier sell to my company because it's in Seattle and they won't have to pay to fly me across the country.
What are the conferences you are gravitating towards?

MozCon, July 14-16 in Seattle. Best value, hands-down. Actionable talks from the best speakers in the industry, awesome community, and great venue. Plus, you get to meet Roger. Details, $300 discount here --> http://moz.com/mozcon.

Hi Brad
If I could, but I can't and it would make no sense for me really (as I am UK based) I would go to the SMX conference. Details here: http://searchmarketingexpo.com/east/

The best Certification for Marketers
I have been working on Digital Marketing for long time ago,
Industry News | | Roman-Delcarmen
most of the knowledge that I have I learned by myself, researching, testing, asking, participating in communities like this one. But is time to go up to next level. Im not a Guru but definitely I'm not a newbie and I have been looking for the best, course and certfications on this fields Some ones are mandatory Google Analytics > Data Analytics Facebook Blue Print > Data Analytics Google Adwords > PPC But I'm looking for an Independent Organization who can validate my knowledge, time ago I read on Envato
"6 Professional Certifications for Freelancers", The American Marketing Association (AMA)
is that type of independent source. The OMPC look the same as AMA and then a lot of question comes to my mind https://omcp.org/ https://www.ama.org/ And I want to hear opinions of others marketers about it? Are they relevant?
Which has better recognition?
The people (who can hire me) will see useful those Certifications? As I see I have to invest money, time and a lot of effor so I wonder to know
which one is the best option.1 -
Did Google Search Just Get Crazy Local?
Hey All, I think it's a known fact at this point that when signed into a personal Google account while doing a search, the results are very oriented around keywords and phrases you have already searched for, as well as your account's perceived location; for instance when I wanted to check one of my own web properties in SE listings I would sign out or it would likely appear first as a false reading. Today I noticed something very interesting: even when not signed in, Google's listings were giving precedence to locality. It was to a very extreme degree, as in when searching for "web design," a firm a mile away ranked higher than one 1.5 miles away and such. It would seem that the algos having this high a level of location sensitivity and preference would actually be a boon for the little guys, which is, I assume why it was implemented. However, it brings up a couple of interesting questions for me. 1. How is this going to affect Moz (or any SE ranking platform, for that matter) reports? I assume that Google pulls locations from IP Addresses, therefore would it not simply pull the local results most relevant for the Moz server(s) IP? 2. What can one do to rise above this aggressive level of location based search? I mean, my site (which has a DA of 37 and a PA of 48) appears above sites like webdesign.org (DA of 82, PA of 85). Not that I'm complaining at the moment, but I could see this being a fairly big deal for larger firms looking to rank on a national level. What gives? I'd love to get some opinions from the community here if anyone else has noticed this...

We noticed that goods offered in our email newsletters used to disappeared from fisrt google search results page. Goods where in top 5 positions or even higher, but after email newsletters we didn't find them even in top 100. We suspect service provider of email sending is in blacklist? Could it be reason? If yes, how could we check that?

How can you change 'Google related searches'?
I am having problems for a few clients where google is suggesting negative related searches. I have had success getting Google suggestion (auto-complete) to suggest the keywords we want to be associated with the brand but the 'Searches Related to....' at the bottom of the search page is a big problem. Many of the terms are negative of sometimes defamatory and have absolutely not relevance to the brand. Even upon clicking on the related searches the pages Google displays are about other businesses. Can anyone suggest how to teach Google these term are irrelevant or any other suggestions as to how to remove them?

Secondshells.com has $3k a month to spend on SEO & marketing. HOW should I spend it & with whom?
We have a Magento based ecommerce site www.secondshells.com and are looking for ways to improve traffic. Our goal is to drive sales of our products. We are in the Android tablet accessory business, since its fairly new the competition is not that great, we would like to get up in organic rankings for our keywords. We have blog updated daily, building backlinks, PR, facebook, twitter, google+, Videos on Youtube, PPC, product feeds to Bing, Google & The Find. The foundation is there but it's a lot to handle in-house. The real question is who to choose to execute the strategy & where to pick them from. There are 1,000's of companies, individuals, Elance & Odesk. Who to choose to execute is more difficult than choosing the direction. We are straightforward and intelligent and want people who can provide a plan of action, execute and report it. All white hat seomoz style of promotion. There are so many choices and avenues to pursue that it is difficult to make a decision as to which way to go. Any guidance or suggestions will be appreciated. SecondShells

What does the New Frontier of Search Look Like? (Mobile and Tablet)
I'd like to start a discussion thread on the direction of search as it applies to mobile and tablet. Jeff Haden, one of our Inc.com contributors, wrote an article headline stating that SIRI would be the end of SEO. However, what the article really talks about is the direction mobile search is likely to take: 1. Search results will be bypassed 2. Even more emphasis on local 3. PPC will be irrelevant 4. Emphasis on social media I think these insights are fairly intuitive and it will be really interesting to see how the medium for mobile and tablet develops. It will be interesting to see what technologies will shape the means by which users find information and not just the search intent of the user. Please add any insights you may have or good reads you'd like to share here.

Is it Google's new interface for search result?
Hi, While searching on Google, i came across a new search result page without underlines in the titles of search snippets. Is Google experimenting with something new or there is some problem in my browser. I checked it in Firefox but at the same time when i checked it on IE, normal page was visible. Regards photostream
