Why am I showing a difference in Goal completion for Adwords and Analytics?
-
I have conversion tracking setup for Adwords and Goal tracking setup in Analytics. There is a large discrepancy between the two. Anyone have any ideas?
-
I am in the process of adding the other events to track. Things like newsletter signups and registrations are nice, but my boss is most interested in sales. We sell really expensive equipment with long purchase cycles so we are never going to complete 100s a day.
-
There will always be discrepancies and it will never be perfectly the same, unfortunately. I would double check your conversion metrics in Adwords, ensure that you're tracking the same conversions between them both.
Also, I hope that you have other pieces of your site as goals - newsletter signups, white paper downloads, etc then say X% of PPC traffic contributes to each of these other goals. Then, with the assisted conversion tool, you can see that all of these pieces fit into a conversion path. If we increase budget by Y for adwords, we can push this budget using these keywords to these goals and I anticipate that we will see a rise in overall revenue in Z amount of time.

I thought the same thing so I went into attribution modeling and I am still seeing the same discrepancy. I want to ask my boss to increase my budget, which if you look at Adwords seems like a great idea, and if you look at Analytics not so much.

Adwords considers a conversion to be anyone who clicked on the ad and then converted anytime within 30 days of that click. Google Analytics associates a cpc conversion if it was the last action taken prior to converting, so if they clicked on the ad earlier in the conversion process it doesn't count it. You can look at the multi-channel funnels reports to try and get a clearer picture of how AdWords is effecting conversions.

Does Google need Analytics installed to create metrics?
Hi Mozers, Does Google know time on site, number of page visits, bounce rate, etc. even if Google Analytics is NOT installed? Does it measure all that stuff anyway, and if you install the GA code on your site, that is so that YOU can see those metrics? OR can Google only see those metrics if you install GA on your site? Thanks! Jane

Adwords start Organic traffic SIGNIFICANTLY drops
I hope someone can give me some insight here, or at least point me in the right direction. As of September 1 we are running Adwords. We are seeing an alarming drop in our organic traffic since then. It's almost like Adwords is cannibalizing organic. August/September Paid 116/847 Organic 648/178 We've looked at why the Organic could have dropped (penalties, site function issues, etc.) and have found nothing unusual. Can someone give me a reason why this might be happening, Why such a dramatic decrease just as adwords is started. Thanks!

What Happened to Adwords?
Anyone have idea whats going on with adwords? The pre-existing data seems to be gone for many terms(avg monthly searches, competition, suggested bid). Even commonly searched terms Google is showing decreased amount of avg monthly searches. Is this for everyone or just me?

Is Analytics Code for SubDomains different?
I am currently tracking site performance on our website with Google Analytics. Recently, we've brought a Wordpress blog into our site as a subdomain blog.accupos.com. Though we did this a few months ago, we do not have Analytics data for these pages within the wordpress platform. I've found where to paste the code, in the Footer block of the Wordpress template, just before the close body tag (is this the best recommended way?) and just have one question about WHICH code to paste. Can I add the original code, same as the rest of the site? Or does Analytics have a different code for tracking subdomains? If so, do I need to replace existing code for the rest of the site? I hope I worded this okay. Please help. I'd appreciate it! Derek M.

Where are google analytics stats for iphone4
hi We were looking at the Google Analytics for one of our sites and noticed that there were NO pageviews from device=iphone and resolution=640x960 in the report. Given that iphone4 is supposed to be 640x960, and would be the most popular device (at least in our offices and everyone I know), it seems wierd. I sorted the Mobile Devices report by device and resolution to see what was available. The first 160 results were all device=not set. Finally got to device=iPhone and there were three entries: resolution 0x0 had 11 views resolution 320x396 had 45 views resolution 320x480 had 3,944 views. Hopefully all iphone4 users havent been classified as not set. Or is it possible that iphone4s claim to be 320x480 in browsers, as per http://www.alistapart.com/articles/a-pixel-identity-crisis/ Even worse, if I look at the Samsung Galaxy S II (myown phone), there are over 30 screen resolution combinations. Does anyone have anything to shed on this? I asked about it on the google analytics twitter account last week but havent had a response. Are there other analytics solutions that would distinguish between the iphones? Warning - this is a link to a large image, with the not set stats at the top. 6Sjji
