Grabbed up some branded domains now what
-
With the recent release of gtlds I was waiting to pick up a .clothing for a client. For some strange reason something came over me and I ended up buying 10 domains of brandname.clothing domains of well know brands. I'm no cybersquatter but just an aspiring SEO and sell these brand's clothing products online. As I learn more about the legal issues I'm wondering what to do
.Do I cancel domains with godaddy? Will I be refunded?
Do I contact rightful owner and offer them the domain at cost?
Can I create a fan site of the products and sell advertising as I seen on many occasions?
So confused what to do?
-
I feel you when it comes to the work load and level of interest.I'm passionate about the clothing industry and SEO so the interest is there plus I have ton of manpower behind me with what I established in the Philippines.I have 70-100 computers in two Internet Cafes in the Philippines and my SEO partner there operates our Internet Marketing team during night shift. The thing is if I just let them sit It may look like bad faith and I want to show these are simply fan sites that promote their brand and prove I'm not holding them hostage and intend to sell fakes or hurt their image.

You can get a refund for the domains within 5 days of purchase. Get the domains refunded and stop using GoDaddy.

Given the time it takes to get somewhere search-wise, I know for me personally I either need to be paid for the time or be so in love with the idea that work doesn't feel like work. If it falls in neither of those two categories, then for myself, I would just let them sit. Best... Darcy

Really doubt GoDaddy will give you a refund. If you do absolutely nothing with them, I doubt you will be sued just for owning them. I wouldn't bother bringing the issue to the companies attention at all; you may be on their radar then. Personally I'd use them for legitimate purposes like creating fan sites; but would keep advertising and any money-making schemes off the sites for at least several months. Build some social media pages for them and make it like a real fan site. That way it will be less-likely they come after you later on saying you were just trying to make a quick buck. Do not put a phrase on the sites saying "buy this domain name" or anything like that. Just my 2 cents (* not legal advice)

Now that Google is no longer publicly displaying Page Rank updates, how will this effect Moz's ability to calculate DA and PA?
Hi, How much more important do you guys think that Moz's Page Authority and Domain Authority metrics are going to become now that Google has stopped giving people public access to a site or pages Page Rank? And how accurate is PA and DA as a measurement in comparison to Page Rank..so for example if I was seeking a guestposting opportunity and saw a site as having a PR of 4....if I now looked to Moz's Page and Domain Authority metrics instead...would that still give me equivalent information on the strength of that domain and thus make a judgement on whether it will be a worthy site for a guestpost.. I guess what I am asking is, how close is now looking at Moz's metrics (ie. a third party company) to the info on PageRank that was being updated by Google themselves? Also will the lack of updated public PR info from Google effect the ability for Moz to calculate PA and DA?? Look forward to your replies on this,

Duplicate content - big brand players
Hi I understand the concept of duplicate content and its impact, however I do have a couple of doubts that I would like to hear expert comments. Product description/content listed in Amazon.com (for instance Canon EOS 600) same content/description can be seen in Amazon.co.uk - how does google see this ? same product listed in amazon is found it target , walmart , Bestbuy and other big player with same description - Who gets the penalty ? Ipad Air launched yesterday, a detailed description can be found on apple site, and the same description / features / word by word will be found in all legit major online sites - How does google see this ? My Business example. Let say I own Samsung camera / other Samsung products. Obviously I do not sell them on my brand site and provide only information on Samsung.com. Products are sold all over the world on retailer websites like bestbuy, target, walmart, amazon.com, amazon.co.uk etc etc. I only have 1 detailed description per product to provide to all these retailers which they use the same information on their website.(I dont mind them doing so, however is this duplicate content ? ) If the answer is all retailers have to alter my original description, this may not be feasible, coz I have 1000+ products and 100+ retails. Remember I am Samsung. How does google see this, What is my Online strategy, Appreciate your comments.

Hyphenated domains – good or bad?
I have a client who will be changing their domain name from www.brand.co.uk to www.brandglobal.com. There are concerns however that this might affect the searches for brand terms and variants. Hence, there is a suggestion for going for www.brand-global.com. I’m aware that search engines are smart enough to discern the brand name in most cases, but I’m wary if it would impact highly on the brand search terms and would it be a better option to go for www.brand-global.com instead of www.brandglobal.com? Any advice (or reference to discussions around this) would be much appreciated. Thanks

12-pack Now a 6-pack?
Google just announced the new 12-pack site-links 2 weeks ago, and now it looks like they're testing some changes that restrict it to a 6-pack. Are others seeing this? Has anyone seen an official report (Google blogs or major search site)? Is this an homage to beer or abs?
