Volusion SEO
-
I have an SEO setting on our Volusion e-commerce store enabled, it is titled "Enable full URL for Home Page Canonical Link (include /default.asp)"
I am questioning whether or not this should be enabled for optimal SEO performance. Can anyone provide any advice on this?
-
No I do not need to type in /default.asp on the end to bring up the homepage. So having this setting enabled would cause SEO problems correct?
Right now we have versions of our hompage as follows:
www.domain.com
http://www.domain.com resoves to www.domain.com
http://domain.com resolves to http://www.domain.com/Default.aspIf you click on the home button on our site you get www.domain.com/default.asp
-
When you go to your homepage, do you need to put /default.asp on the end? If not, I wouldn't set it and have the canonical set to just the domain.

Do I need multiple 301s to preserve SEO
Many years ago I created website www.original.com. Two years ago I redirected website www.original to www.neworiginal.comusing 301 redirects. I have now created www.rebranded.com. I want to maintain all SEO value. Should I redirect both www.original.comand www.new original.com to www.rebranded.com? Or do I only need to redirect one of them and if only one which one? If I need only to redirect one can I delete the other, why or why not. Of course the url are fictitious. I truly appreciate your help

Woocommerce SEO & Duplicate content?
Hi Moz fellows, I'm new to Woocommerce and couldn't find help on Google about certain SEO-related things. All my past projects were simple 5 pages websites + a blog, so I would just no-index categories, tags and archives to eliminate duplicate content errors. But with Woocommerce Product categories and tags, I've noticed that many e-Commerce websites with a high domain authority actually rank for certain keywords just by having their category/tags indexed. For example keyword 'hippie clothes' = etsy.com/category/hippie-clothes (fictional example) The problem is that if I have 100 products and 10 categories & tags on my site it creates THOUSANDS of duplicate content errors, but If I 'non index' categories and tags they will never rank well once my domain authority rises... Anyone has experience/comments about this? I use SEO by Yoast plugin. Your help is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance. -Marc

What is the best way to learn SEO?
I was wondering if it's worth taking an SEO Training course. If so is it better to take a live class or Online class. Or is better to just read all the SEO Books out there? Or is there a good video series anyone can recommend? What is the best way to learn SEO? I have a good understanding of SEO but I'm not a Pro ( Yet ). Obviously SEO is always evolving so even the Pro's are constantly updating their skill set but I want to make sure my foundation is solid and complete. Advice Please. Thank you all.

Without having to move the WP instance to /blog can I have all my urls directing as www.practo.com/blog/articles and still work to update the blog from www.blog.practo.com Is this possible and advisible?

Are dropdown menus bad for SEO
I have an ecommerce shop here: http://m00.biz/UHuGGC I've added a submenu for each major category and subcategory of items for sale. There are over 60 categories on that submenu. I've heard that loading this (and the number of links) before the content is very bad for SEO. Some will place the menu below the content and use absolute positioning to put the menu where it currently is now. It's a bit ridiculous in doing things backwards and wondering if search engines really don't understand. So the question is twofold: (1) Are the links better in a bottom loading sidemenu where they are now? (2) Given the number of links (about 80 in total with all categories and subcategories), is it bad to have the sidemenu show the subcategories which, in this instance, are somewhat important? Should I just go for the drilldown, e.g. show only categories and then show subcategories after? Truth is that users probably would prefer the dropdown with all the categories and second level subcategories, despite the link number and placement.
