Can I use a fake email address for Moz Local submission? This is for a medical practice, that has been advised not to publish an email address due to HIPAA concerns.

I work with medical practices, who due to HIPAA do not want to publish an email address in listings.
Would it cause a problem if I just submitted a non-working address (like [email protected]) that is not set up at all, so any email sent there would just bounce?
Obviously, one option is to use a HIPAA compliant email account, but there are other considerations (timeliness of responses related to clinical issues, for example) that make it less than ideal for a many medical practices to publish a public email address of any sort.
I'm interested in any options or solutions that could allow me to use Moz Local (which requires an email address) for businesses with HIPAA concerns.

What if someone emails this phony address and does not get a prompt reply? Is that a problem?

I've chatted with the team and learned that we will not reject a listing with a fake address, but I do share the above concerns about a poor user experience, because that address will be published on your listings. I think the idea of setting up an autoresponder is as good as any, here, so you'd likely want to implement this.
I'd also like to suggest that you make a feature request here https://seomoz.zendesk.com/forums/293194-Moz-Feature-Requests regarding the possibility of Moz Local not making the email a required feature of the .CSV. I think you've raised an important point about medical practices!

Thanks for your help. While we are on the topic, any idea why it is required? I'd love it if there was a "Moz Local Light" that submitted to only the sites that do not require an email. That would be helpful for medical practices, as well as for any other business that prefers not to use (or at least publish) an email address.

While I know that an email address is a required field of our .CSV template you'll be filling out, I'm not actually sure if there would be negative outcomes of using a non-working address in that field, in terms of updating your listings on our partners' platforms or otherwise. I agree, they should. But you might be surprised at the number of medical practices that simply do not have a knowledgeable security advisor.

Agreed, this is precisely the option I recommend... at the same time, I'm trying to be creative about alternatives. In some cases, the issue is NOT keeping the email secure, as required by HIPAA, but the ability to respond in a timely fashion. The autoresponder should handle this issue, but not all clients understand.

This medical practice should have a security advisor who they can go to for answers on this type of question. They are who you should be asking.

I think if it was me and my client, what I would recommend is getting a HIPPA compliant email hosting account and making a submission email with it. Then setting an auto responder to the email account telling them that it is not checked. Also I might try to put a disclaimer some where in the listing as well not to email medical issues.
You can only hurt your business so much by being compliant to peoples stupidities.

Hello, I'm in a unique situation where I need to prevent a web page and business listing from ranking for a keyword in Google. The keyword is a phone number that is not associated with the business and is not listed anywhere on the page or in reviews on the business listing. It's causing confusion for people who perform a reverse phone number lookup and see our business and think we called them. I already submitted feedback on the search results, have contacted GMB support, have submitted the page for indexing in Search Console, and am now going to try displaying the correct phone number in the page title and meta description.

Evidence that high organic rankings impact positioning in the Google local pack?
I'm looking for articles/evidence that if you have a high ranking organic listing that it will improve your chances of being in the local pack. I came across this about a year ago, but I have had trouble finding articles to support this. Does anybody know of any recent articles and/or studies that show a correlation of high organic listings and local pack visibility? Thanks!

Having two GMB listings at same address
We currently have two verified GMB listings at the same address - I "inherited" these when I joined the company, and was considering merging them, as I am aware it is generally not recommended to have more than one listing per company per location. However, the two listings highlight two different sectors of our company so I decided to keep both and optimised them as best as possible by completing the information, adding pictures etc. One of the listings uses our legal company name, one uses our name that we trade under as an e-commerce business. The listing with our legal company name links to our corporate website and focuses on installations we do, while the listing with our e-commerce business name links to our ecommerce website and focuses on products we sell through there so they differ a bit from each other. The following are the same: Address, phone number, opening hours So far we haven't had any issues, both are verified and show up in Google, but recently, we have had the following notification pop up: Fix locations with duplicate addresses__Use shop codes to differentiate locations that have the same address. Click each location and give it a unique address or shop code, or remove it. I'd appreciate some advice as to what would be best in this situation. What's the 20/80 rule in local SEO as it relates to health care organizations
Hello all, I'm in charge of local SEO for a health care system that covers the entire state of Nebraska, with dozens of clinics all over the state, but mainly Omaha and Lincoln. I'm trying to build a cohesive local strategy for our organization, and a big part of that is figuring out what are the 20% of the actions I could take that will get me 80% of the benefit. Based on your experience as a local SEO specialist or ideally someone who does local SEO in a health care setting, what are the key things I should focus on? I'm not new to local SEO (just new to health care). My guess would be to focus in on getting a good local page on our website for every clinic/location etc., and getting a good Google Page listing for each one as well. But I figured I'd seek out advice on this before I plunge ahead.

Google Local Listing Ranking/Traffic Metrics in the Google Search Console?
A client of mine asked me if it was possible to see local listing data (ranking/traffic stats) in the Google Search Console for a URL. I figured the Google Search Console only shows organic metrics not 3-pack/local listing performance. However I could be mistaken. Does the Google Search Console report this?

Is there a way to get your local SERP by zipcode?
I have multiple stores across various zipcodes and i'm having difficulty trying to provide an average Positioning on SERP by region. I do know that your SERP varies by region because different areas use different vernaculars. Does anyone know of a way that I can provide a SERP for keywords/terms by county or zip code?
