What to do with duplicate Listings for Business in Moz Local Tool?
-
Hi Everyone! Just another newbie Local SEO looking for a solution.
I was searching my business listing in Moz Local and it returned two addresses.
Listing #1: 925 B Street #402 San Diego, CA 92101, 67623
Listing #2: 925 B St, #402, San Diego, CA, 92101- Do I need to remove the listing with two zip codes showing up? (I don't see any of my profiles showing up with two zip codes though.)
- Listing #2 is accurate yet the local moz tool tells me that my Google+ page is 69% complete. How is it possible that Listing #1 scored a 97% complete on Google+?
- Would you recommend putting the suite number in Address Line 1 or separated in Line 2? Does it even matter?
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Paul,
Thank you so much for your patience! Our engineers have been able to surface what they feel is at the root of this odd issue. If you got to this Google+ Local page:
https://plus.google.com/100180822171424943321/about?hl=en-US
....you will see that there is no comma between the suite number and the city name. Our tool is very sensitive to punctuation and apparently, this lack of a comma is what we believe is throwing off the results. If you could go to your Google My Business account and fix this issue, we believe it would also then resolve on our end.
Hope this helps! A bit of a weird one, I know

Hi Paul,
Just checked again and see we're still returning that odd result in Check Listing for you. I'm going to ask our Engineering department to take a look at this as I just cannot turn up where that weird zip code is coming from. I hope we'll hear from them in the new business week and that they'll be able to provide some insight!

Miriam,
Thanks for the response. I did some further research and couldn't find any listings that were using the Kansas zip code that's being pulled in with his zip code. I spoke with my client and he's never even set foot in Kansas. I want to be able to utilize Moz Local listing, but I'm not sure if I should claim either of the current listings. Please let me know if you have any solutions for this.

Hi There!
Well, this is a puzzle! I am searching in all different kinds of ways to figure out the origin of that second zip code an am coming up empty handed. Curiously, 67632 is a zip code for Alton, Kansas, and your client appears to be located in San Diego, California. Is there any connection, in any way, that you can think of with Kansas? Perhaps the business moved from Kansas to California, or something else like this? Please, let me know, because I am just unable to turn up any reference to that second zip code with any version of the business name I'm trying in Google.
Yes, suite numbers should always be on the second address line in your Google+ Local listing.
Both of the listings Check Listing is surfacing for you appear to be pointing to the same Google+ Local page.
The one with the normal zip is pointing to:https://plus.google.com/100180822171424943321/about?hl=en-US
And the one with the odd zip is pointing to:
https://plus.google.com/100180822171424943321/about?hl=en-US
So, same page, meaning I'm not seeing 2 pages (duplicates). I'm only seeing one. This is further puzzling me, then, as to how the percentage of completion is different on the two pages being linked to, when they appear to me to be the same page. Also, Check Listing is incorrectly reporting on the least complete listing that the website URL is unavailable on the page, when clearly, it is right there on the page.
My feeling is that there is something a bit odd going on here with the results we're showing you. Please let me know about the thing about Kansas. I'd like to get this figured out for you!

Why would a website link disappear from a Google Place listing?
Hi, a local non-profit recently re-branded their name from MacDonald Center to Maybelle Center. When they updated their business information their website link disappeared. They've updated from within and dashboard to no avail. We've requested edits/updates via Google Map maker but it says Denied. Here's a URL for the SERP result. Note the button for "website" would normally appear by the button for "directions" https://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome-psyapi2&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8&q=maybelle center portland&oq=maybelle center portland&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i59j69i61.4316j0j7 Can someone please explain why this is happening and how we can fix it? They are a great community organization who's about to receive some media coverage and we'd really appreciate it if users hearing about the group be able to easily access their new website. They are aware of their duplicate listings but, typical of non-profits, have limited time and funds so are prioritizing to address more urgent issues first. However, I don't believe duplicate listings would cause such an issue but please let me know if I'm wrong here

Having two GMB listings at same address
We currently have two verified GMB listings at the same address - I "inherited" these when I joined the company, and was considering merging them, as I am aware it is generally not recommended to have more than one listing per company per location. However, the two listings highlight two different sectors of our company so I decided to keep both and optimised them as best as possible by completing the information, adding pictures etc. One of the listings uses our legal company name, one uses our name that we trade under as an e-commerce business. The listing with our legal company name links to our corporate website and focuses on installations we do, while the listing with our e-commerce business name links to our ecommerce website and focuses on products we sell through there so they differ a bit from each other. Both serve the entire country, so they are not targeted specifically toward local searches. The following differ: Business name, sector, website

The following are the same: Address, phone number, opening hours So far we haven't had any issues, both are verified and show up in Google, but recently, we have had the following notification pop up: Fix locations with duplicate addresses__Use shop codes to differentiate locations that have the same address. Click each location and give it a unique address or shop code, or remove it. I'd appreciate some advice as to what would be best in this situation. Should I just add shop codes to differentiate the two listings in order to be able to keep them both? If so, what purpose do these shop codes have, how should I format these and will these be publicly visible within our listings? If you would suggest merging them, how could I ensure that it shows up whether people search for our e-commerce business name or for our legal business name as these are different? Thanks in advance!0 -
Home-Based Business
Can a single business list multiple locations that are home-based? Will Google find this acceptable? More details. The business is a service based business that operates in two states. The owner has one approved Google My Business listing for her main location - her home in DE. She also has employees and stores supplies at her in-law's home in PA. Separate phone numbers are used for each business location. We have tried to create a Google My Business listing for the PA location and it has been rejected for quality reasons. We've asked clarification and received none. Is this worth pursing further or does it violate Google guidelines?

Are there any services like Moz Local for Canada?
Was wondering if there would be a way to simplify getting NAP data out there and consistent for a business in Canada like we have here in the US with Moz Local? If not, are there specific sites besides Yellow Pages Group and the government site (ic.gc.ca) to submit their information? I'm sure Yelp, Facebook, Google, Bing, Yahoo, and all the usuals...but where else?

Multiple locations and local directories
Hello, A client has opened a new office in another city. I have created a local landing page for this city. Now I want to build citations for it. However, I have already set up directories like Yelp/Yell with the primary/original address in the original city. Is it OK to set up new citations using the new city local address. The company name stays the same obviously. So I will have duplicate listings on the directories for the same company. Will this work? Thanks for any help

Now, their business is having 2 listings but with different URLs. How can we merge these two? Please advice. Thanks in Advance.

No access for UK Get listed and now Moz Local Alternatives to Moz?
Ive had a pro subscription now for quite sometime and it was a shame when Get Listed UK was removed, now Moz has released its Moz Local and thats also just for US customers. I presume UK and other countries are a low priority, so don't expect anything for us for the foreseeable future! Ive taken out a subscription for Whitespark, but is there an alternative to Moz that people know of that does support us poor UK people?
