SEO-impact of mouseover text on header pictures
-
Hi,
what do you reckon of taking away the mouseover effect on the header pictures seen on www.viventura.de/reisen/peru?
We are thinking of eliminating the mouseover text to make User Experience even better but are worrying that our ranking might go down when doing so. Any experiences, any help is highly appreciated!
Thanks,Benno

I don't have a strong opinion but there was a good article on the topic on Searchengineland

Hi Chris,
thanks a lot for your helpful answer! This helped a lot.
May I ask, as a followup-question what you think about having slideshows in the header, as seen on http://www.viventura.de/gruppenreisen/t/viyoung?
Besides the fact that here the text keeps annoyingly disappearing on image change (certainly not good): do you have any opinion on pro and cons of image slideshows in header pictures? Thanks again and many greetings from Germany!

Viventura,
I'm not a Spanish speaker but I will assume that the text that shows up in the mouseover is highly relevant, informative, and well-written. If so, eliminating that mouseover is likely to have an impact unless you use the text somewhere else on the page (like underneath the header). Currently, the text that shows up in the mouseover is indexed as part of the page content--and it's probably a fairly important part.
You could go into one of your lesser important category pages where such flyover text occurs and remove it from the html and test whether there is any change to traffic or rankings (or conversions) before doing it for the entire site.

Craft CMS SEO Resources
I'm just starting out in freelance SEO & I've taken on a client who is using Craft CMS (version 2.0ish) for their site. I am not even close to being competent enough to manually code via Twig, but I had the main developer install the SEOmatic plugin for me. My question from here is - are there any resources or tips I should be aware of starting out? I just started by updating meta title/descriptions via "New Template Meta(s)" but I'm a bit concerned i'm doing the "template path" thing right - I haven't seen any visible changes in browser, and the SERP preview I'm getting is giving me a broken link. But i'm doing a fresh Moz crawl right now to see if the changes took place or not. so 1. Am I on the right track? 2. How long does it typically take for changes to start to show? 3. Is there anything I should be aware of? any follow up questions just let me know, I'll be following this thread!

What Can I Do To Improve The SEO of My Site?
We have a website that is ranking okay but we can't seem to get past #6 or #7 for a specific national keyword, "self storage software". We are working on a more effective back-linking strategy right now, but we really are having a hard time identifying steps to take besides that. If anyone can help me out and give me some suggestions I would be very appreciative. Maybe even seeing a competitive analysis from someone else would help catch something that I am not seeing. Website is www.storageunitsoftware.com Thanks in advance.

SEO Problems with Loading to a Subfolder?
A client has a single page app website that shows https://example.com/example when you visit https://example.com . I don't think this is a redirect; I think it's a URL rewrite. My questions: Is this setup common with single page apps? What are the SEO benefits or drawbacks of having a domain's homepage load, rewrite, or redirect to a subfolder?

SEO impact of an iframed blog is very low ? Right or wrong ?
We're thinking about adding a blog to our site, but our CMS blogging features are not good. Someone suggested using a wordpress blog and putting it in an iframe on our site. I replied that all the SEO impact of our blogging efforts will be lost because of the iframe. I am right or wrong ? If I am right, could you suggest better alternatives ? Thanks in advance ! I have several keyword list I am trying to market - (My website is : http://www.soobumimphotography.com/) San Antonio wedding photographer, family photographer San Antonio sports photographer in san antonio headshot san antonio engagement photos san antonio I think it's too broad and thinking about getting separate sites for them. I know I can make urls something like this http://www.soobumimphotography.com/headshot using multisite function and planning to redirect it to www.sanantonioheadshots.com etc Is this good idea to do so? Should I get a new hosting and domain and start it all over again. Thank you

When to SEO optimize a blog post?
Hi there, Here's our situation: there are two people working on the blog. person 1) writes the posts person 2) SEO optimizes the posts I know this is not ideal but it's the best we can do and it's a whole lot better than no blog. 🙂 I'm the fellow optimizing the posts. I've found that my best SEO efforts usually slightly undermine the readability of these posts -- not in an extreme way, I'm not going overboard with keywords or anything. Rather, things like a sexy & enticing article heading may have to be dummed down for search engines... Because of this dumming down, I like to wait a couple of weeks to SEO optimize our posts, the logic being that we get the best of both worlds: a happy regular readership on topic articles that are clearly described for (and aligned to the terms used by) our search engine visitors What I'm wondering is, Generally: can you see any problems with this setup? would you do it differently? Specifically: does Google (et al) punish this sort of backwards re-writing? and, does it somehow amount to less SEO mojo when done retroactively? Thanks so much for your time! Best, Jon
