How to create a moz local listing for a service area?
-
I have a client who service a very wide area, from a major city to about 100 miles north of it, they only have one location but their business is never conducted inside the office. When creating a moz local CSV, any special suggestions on how to best configure it so it's listed for a wide area?
Thanks!

Good Morning!
Moz Local definitely works for home-based businesses (you'll be marking the business as home-based as described in our .CSV guidelines here: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/local/help/documentation). The purpose of marking the business as home-based is so that the address can be hidden, but I do want to add the proviso here that not all of our partners will accept a hidden address. Because of this, we let home-based customers know that their address will appear on some of our partner sites. In many cases, this is no problem at all, but for a small percentage of customers who do not want their home address to appear anywhere on the web, Moz Local may not be the best match. Wanted to be sure you had this information to share with your client:)

Thanks everyone,
The client in question doesn't have a physical store but does have a "home base" so to speak but their customers never go there. My client comes to the customer for their parties and events. If using Moz local using their home base address will still benefit them then I'll certainly recommend it.
Thanks again for all the help. Really appreciate it.

Hi Corey,
For SABs like your client, a typical marketing strategy is going to involve:
-
Citation building for their physical location (whether manually or more conveniently through a product like Moz Local
-
Other efforts (like content development) for their service cities where they have no physical presence.
So, you'll want to do both. Moz Local will help your client get solid citations built for their physical location (which is really important, of course!) but you'll need to then employ other strategies to earn visibility for their non-physical-location cities.
Hope that makes sense!

I wouldn't. But the advice in the MiriamEllis's link is great advice!

Hey thanks for getting back to me.
So it's probably best to not spend money on Moz local in that situation?

Hi There,
Thanks for asking about this! Citation building is all about physical location, with the end goal being appearing well for the city in which a business is physically located. Whether you build citations manually or use a more convenient option like Moz Local, it is always going to be about physical location rather than service radius. Other marketing strategies must be employed by service area businesses hoping to gain visibility in geographic regions in which they have no physical presence. Citation building should strengthen your position where you are physically located, but for non-physical geographies, you will likely need to work on things like this:

Hope this helps!

Moz local "add one of your own photos"
I am new to Moz Local, and I am working to update my business listing. I felt lost when there was a section asking for photos, but instead of uploading them, they are a URL. I do not understand how to add these photos. Can someone help?

Moz information (Rankings, Search Visibility, etc.) not working
Good afternoon! I had a quick concern / question that I wanted to ask the community. One of my campaigns hasn't moved at all since we put them into our account. Everything has stayed static: 0.00% Search Visibility, 0 Keywords Ranking, 0 Moved Up, 0 Moved Down, etc., They have been in Moz for roughly a month now. Does anyone know what might be happening? We are trying to get solid data for our client, but we can't seem to get Moz to index it, perhaps? Let me know what you think!

Moz Local showing wrong Acxiom Listing
Hey there -- The Acxiom listing that is showing up for a client in Moz Local isn't the clients business. It's showing a different law office. The only overlapping data is the city, state and zip code. For reference, the client has claimed their Acxiom business listing. Anything I can do to fix this? I can't even click on the listing from Moz.

Moz Local Not Accepting Full Address
Hi, So we've just purchased the Agency version of Moz Local and decided to submit our agency first. Moz pulls addresses from Google and Facebook, both of which have the correct address for our business. However, when I search for our agency on Moz Local, a line from our address is missing. Moz doesn't allow you edit most of the address for spam reasons, but it lets you enter a manual 'Address Line 2', which is perfect as that's what's missing.... Unfortunately, it appears this has a very low character limit and it only accepts two of the three words in the address - 'Teesside Industrial' instead of 'Teesside Industrial Estate'! For local SEO, your address needs to be perfectly consistent across every single directory... so how do I overcome this if Moz won't allow me to enter our correct address? Cheers, Lewis

Closing Old Locations with Moz Local
I'm sure the answer is pretty simple, but how are we supposed to report an old location as closed in Moz Local? I'd like to mark an old address as closed in all of the major data providers. Of course, I can claim the new location, but I do I need to claim the old location and then somehow mark it closed? When I do a search with Moz, it gives me five results for a doctor who has a single location now (I'm not posting the actual name because I just don't want this forum to appear for searches for the doctor):
Dr. Doctor Name, DMD Verified
Moz Local | | TomBristol

Current Phone

Doctor Name, DMD Verified

How does the "Update Listing" in the InComplete section of Moz Local work?
I know it takes you to the listing site. Do you then have to create an account and claim the listing and then update it there? Does claiming the listing lose the connection with Moz Local? I've been spending a lot of time claiming listings and wondering if that's correct or not. Thanks Dana
