Weird meta description for website launch
-
Hi all,
We just launched a new website: http://www.allwatchapps.com/
There is no link yet, but everything seems allright in google webmaster tools: everypage seems to be indexed, and content keywords are good.
However, when I search for "allwatchapps" in google, I got a meta description for the homepage:
26 mai 2014 - Contact. : + 33 (0)6.33.27.78.63 : [email protected] : Grenoble - Lyon - Chambéry - Annecy - Paca - Paris ...
It is the date of the page, which I want to disable (where does it com from?! I use Yoast SEO plugin and didn't find the option), and the footer contact info, why is that?...
Thanks, best,
- Benoit.

Again as per MoosaHemani and Lynnp, Google's algorthims will often choose a string of characters from within the sites content that is deemed suitable for the page, normally the first descriptive paragraph. This will remain in place until you set up your meta descriptions correctly.
Sometimes you may also find that the Yahoo/Bing network also do the same.
-
Just check two things, if you have included Meta description in your Yoast plugin for home page. If it will be missing, Google usually take any line from the content.
The idea is to recheck if the Meta description is available and wait for the next crawl and Google will update your given Meta description.
Hope this helps!

HI Benoit,
If the site is very new and has no incoming links yet I would think that google is still trying to decide what it is all about and how best to present the data in the serps and that is why you are seeing the contact data in there (also the type of search you are doing - an exact match for the domain - could be influencing the type of data returned). Give it a bit of time and the description should change around and settle.
The date is mentioned in your source code (view source and search for 'vcard' and you will see a hidden div with author and date info in it). So google is likely thinking your site is a blog and adding date info to the serps. Getting this hidden code completely out of the template should help getting the date out of the description.

Mobile Meta Descriptions?
Hi Guys, We have two different versions of each page for both desktop and mobile example: http://tinyurl.com/zkxlxax http://tinyurl.com/zelqcbv We want to create meta descriptions for both versions. However in the CMS (http://www.mantistech.com.au/ecommerce_website_package.aspx) it only allows one meta description. Example: http://s21.postimg.org/ar8bzrh3r/screenshot_1804.jpg Does anyone know anyway around this? To add two different meta descriptions and tell Google which one to use based on device type. Thanks.

Google W.M.T Missing Meta Title on AJax Pages... Weird!!
Hey Mozers, I was looking through my Google Web Masters Tool under HTML Improvements. It looks like I have 2,200 pages missing Meta Titles and I was about to lose it thinking HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN! I came to realize that the pages were "Ajax Pages". This is specifically a checkprice pop up and I dont want this page crawled by google. It looks like to google I have over 2k pages missing Meta Titles and they are all "check price pop ups". How would you suggest I block this. I thought about going the easy route and removing the subfolder and putting it in the Robots.txt document and I'm scared of that because we use AJax for a bunch of calls. I'm also scared of putting in the head <metaname="robots" =="" noindex, nofollow"="">because it requires hard coding</metaname="robots"> I Know i'm not the first to come across this issue, Any Ideas??

Google is not indexing an updated website
We just relaunched a website that has 5 years old, we maintain all the old URLs and articles but for some reason google is not picking up the new website https://www.navisyachts.com. In Google Webmaster Tools we can see the sitemap with over 1000 pages submitted but shows nothing as indexed. The site is loosing traffic rapidly and positions, from the SEO side all looks fine for me. What can be wrong? I’ll appreciate any help. The new website is built over Joomla 3.4, we have it here at MOZ and other than some minor details it doesn't show that something can be wrong with the website. Thank you.
