OpenSite Explorer
-
Hello Moz World,
Does anyone know how long it takes Moz's OpenSite Explorer to recognise / index back links?
I have generated a number of back links for pages in the last 7 days (not "no-follow") and they are not yet showing up?
Any advise would be much appreciated.
Kind regards
Ben

Martin,
Thank you for the reply, that sounds great. It seemed like the most recent index came a few weeks early (was listed as Oct 1st) and the next one is scheduled about a month out which seems like forever when you're trying to see what progress you've made, but as you mentioned, it is a ton of data to sort through on your end so definitely understand the challenges. Will be great if the next update allows for index updates on a more frequent basis and additional insights, definitely looking forward to it. Thanks again.

Hi Kyle,
I am the manager of the Big Data team at Moz. Currently the system we use has a cycle time of approx 4 weeks. This pulls together all the data we have seen in the previous 100 days of crawling (approx 170 Million Domains where we see136 Billion Links) as you can imagine index and sorting these links can take some time.
We are currently working on a major update (to be released early next year) to our systems where we will move to an incremental model were updates are applied to the index on a much more timely manner. We also plan to incorporate some form of data visualization about how often and how much of a user site will be crawled so that our customers can get some in-site into when they will see updates.
I hope that helps.
Martin.

Even after the most recent index update I didn't see some of the links I have built show up. So far it seems to take about a month for new links to show up but they appear in Google Webmaster tools much sooner. Hopefully if the Moz Index updates more frequently in the future these links will appear much faster. Good luck with your link building efforts.

That's a great help thank you. Much appreciated for your quick reply.

Hi Ben
OSE and the Moz index runs on scheduled updates. You can check when it was last updated and when the next update will happen right here.
You can see the last update was 3 weeks ago, with the next update on the 1st Oct. Hence why you're links aren't showing yet.
Moz is working hard on making the updates more regular and in the past have had them every week or fortnight, so hopefully it'll get back to there soon.
Hope this helps.

Link Explorer Export
Does anyone know how to export more than 50 keywords at a time from Link Explorer? I'm trying to extract the keywords from a competitor domain to do some analysis/big data queries. I'm using the link Explorer but I can't see any way to export more than 50 keywords at a time! The total I can export seems to be around 100k but it's going to take a very long time if I've got to do 50 at a ago!

Difference between Link Analysis and open site explorer
Hey, when i check my links in Link Analysis in Moz Analytics is see 45 Linking Root Domains. The manual states: " If you want to look at these pages in more depth, just click the export button. This will take you to Open Site Explorer so you can dig deeper into your link profile and export the data for review later." But when i go there, the open site explorer states i only have 31 Linking Domains. What could explain the difference?

Why is my website providing no feedback on the Open Site Explorer?
Basically, whenever i type in my URL, http://www.locksmithplusincportlandor.com, I am presented with the following message: "It looks like we haven't discovered established link data for this URL yet." I have gone through all of the reasons why this could be, and none of them apply to my current situation. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Is there an option that's more precise over Open Site Explorer?
I've had folks explain to me before that OpenSiteExplorer is just an estimation, etc. but there are some fairly easy statistics that seem to be different and it makes me nervous that either its wrong or I'm doing something wrong. As you can see in the image, moz isn't read social metrics correctly. It actually used to be pretty spot on, but as you can see with Google+'s its off. Maybe not a big deal right? But for my clients new Moz Analytic print outs it makes somewhat of a difference. Any help? UlwQs3w

Is there an efficient way to use Open Site Explorer to find unnatural or harmful links
We have a new client with 8 sites that we would like to 301 to a new site. However, before doing so we want to make sure that the backlinks are not unnatural or harmful in any way. Using open site explorer (other than just looking at exact anchor text vs brand anchor text ratio) is there a way to determine low quality inbound sites linking in? or any type of links google will find manipulative?
