Check out RevCom's answer.
Then check this out:
- Did you get affected in the middle or the last week of the month? Check your traffic.
If you were, then you got affected by the algorithm updates during those times.
You MAY or MAY NOT have been affected by it. Maybe the links pointing to your were affected, maybe something changed in the keyword/niche rankings, maybe it's showing other new things now that pushed you a bit lower.
Now you can check out Andy's answer and do a link audit to see why you got affected.
As for the www. non www -> be sure to add the current one to webmaster tools as well.

I did a quick check to see if you had tons of back link and got hit by the Penguin update, but you have 337 back links, but majestic seo also said there was a 406 issue on the last crawl. This is probably what effected your traffic.
Here is what can cause it and how to fix - http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/error-numbers/406-error

When last month? Could it have been the Penguin/panda update? You can check by comparing your visits/serp with release dates of updates. You can see (some of) them here - http://moz.com/google-algorithm-change and here http://algoroo.com/

Hi Andy,
Thanks for your reply. Yes I checked webmaster and there is no warning. As I far I can remember I changed by website from non WWW to WWW redirection in the month of August.
Yes we have more Directory listing which I shouldnt be relying on . I am just worried whether the website being affected by any Google update . How do I check that?

is there any warnings in your Webmaster tools, this is the first place I would check.
I can see that on 29/8 you lost all your search visibility (according to Search metrics).
From looking at Opensite explorer - its look like you have a lot of directory links a high %, this would be my best guest to your sudden drop.
I would do a full link analysis, and remove any toxic links - http://moz.com/blog/link-audit-guide-for-effective-link-removals-risk-mitigation
I would then go about creating more natural links. Earning links through good quality content, rather than relying on directory links to boost your link profile.

Is there any benefit of posting links on blogs where last conversation took place 6 years ago
i am working on backlinking , i stumbled upon a site whos DA is 90 and spam score is 1%, however that site had last comment 6 years ago, my question is am i still getting any juice since the fact that other people may never go to this in near future, that site looks like an abandoned site.

Multiple Websites Under Single Brand
My company has many websites having similar content . They are into the retail business and sell manufactured homes. Since they sell different manufacturer homes products having different specification in different states that's why they have created many websites. Will duplicate design and similar content on some of the pages across multiple website will cause issues in Google ranking.

I redesigned a clients website and there is a pretty massive drop in traffic - despite my efforts to significantly improve SEO.
Hi there, I redesigned a clients website that was very old fashioned and was not responsive. I implemented 301 redirects, kept the content pretty similar, website linking structure very similar - the only things i changed was making the website responsive, improved title tags, added a bit more information, improved the footer and h1 tags etc.. however although clicks are fairly similar search impressions have dropped about 60% on average over the past week. The old site had some keywords linking to pages with no new content so i removed those as seemed like black hat seo tricks and also there was a huge list of "locations we deliver to" on the homepage followed by around 500 citys/towns I removed this. Could this be the cause for the drop? as i assumed those would do more harm than good? Fairly new with SEO as you can probably tell. Looking for advice on what may be the cause and what steps I should take now. Thanks for reading! duGeW

Sudden drop in ranking
Hi, I have been on page 1 (around 5-7th) for an area specific phrase (liverpool wedding photographer) for most of last year. I wrote a 2500 word article which was about documentary wedding photography which was meant for a landing page of its own, I decided to put it on my home page. A week later I was second position page 1. This was last November and within a week or at most 14 days I was suddenly dropped to bottom page 1 (9th 10th), then a week later half way down page 2 (14th, 15th) and ending at the bottom of page 2. I had a bad SEO company a few years ago who got me a lot of spammy links so I ended up disavowing a lot of links I had. What are peoples opinions on links now? Do I disavow all directory links, and non wedding or photography related links? Did something major happen to the google algorithm in November? The only other thing I can think of which might cause a penalty is using the keyword "Liverpool wedding photographer" as a link from at leat 10 blog posts back to my home page which is optimised for those keywords. This was something I copied from someone who was ranking nationally for phrases. Just looked at their site now and they are still using this technique and are No1 nationally for their chosen phrase???? I do try and get as many 'good' links as I can (featured weddings on wedding blogs and credits for photography work) but I am totally confused. I thought google likes a lot of content? Very gutted as it could not happen at a worse time as January is the busiest month for bookings and I have been nowhere. any help will be greatly appreciated. Best wishes. David.

International Website Targeting
Hello fellow Mozzers, had a quick question. So we have a new eCommerce client that is interested in launching a website in multiple countries. According to their vision, they want a US site, UK site, Japan site, etc and so on. I have a few concerns about doing it this way. First, there is the issue with the sites being the same. They only difference will be that they have a different domain, such as domain.co.jp for the Japan-based site, domain.co.uk for UK, etc. Even if we target different countries in webmaster, won't the sites still compete with one another and potentially get tagged as duplicates? I'm thinking there has to be a better way to have a site targeted at the world, without having to clone and duplicate and relaunch. Anyone have experience with this?

Google Organic Ranking & Traffic Dropped
Hello, We have been struggling to keep our website (http://goo.gl/vS37qA) ranking well in Google since April 30, 2015. For some reason at that time, there were around 15000 blocked pages (mainly Magento layered navigation pages) showing in Google's Search Console. We used canonical tags, and now all these pages have been removed from Google's index and Google Search Console. We didn't do anything that is against Google's Guidelines. Currently in Google Search Console we see:- Around 50 crawl errors- no malware- no blocked pages - no other error messages in both Webmasters tool.We have never practiced black hat SEO, paid for links, or used tactics that Google penalizes. We noticed in the last few months there are around 1000 Chinese/Russian/Japanese links points to our website, and we have used the disavow tool to notify Google of these attacks.Any help would be greatly appreciated in advance!

If Google Authorship is used for every page of your website, will it be penalized?
Hey all, I've noticed a lot of companies will implement Google Authorship on all pages of their website, ie landing pages, home pages, sub pages. I'm wondering if this will be penalized as it isn't a typical authored piece of content, like blogs, articles, press releases etc. I'm curious as I'm going to setup Google Authorship and I don't want it to be setup incorrectly for the future. Is it okay to tie each page (home page, sub pages) and not just actual authored content (blogs, articles, press releases) or will it get penalized if that occurs? Thanks and much appreciated!
