Guest Blogging Question? How many links in an article?
-
I am being offered by a blog to have more than 5 links in an article that points directly to our money sites. The blog is in the same niche. This is the first time i am being offered more than 2-3 links in an article. Should i do it?
How many links should be in an article so not to be penalized by Google? Does it look unnatural to have more links in an article that points to the same site but different pages?
Thanks

I was originally taught by my SEO sensei that you can include 1 link for approx. every 100 words. Still, I wouldn't do more than 1 or 2. You definitely don't want to include more than one link to the same page. Here's a video of Google's (former?) Matt Cutts on that.
Be very careful when guest blogging for links. Here is what Cutts had to say about Guest Blogging:
I wouldn’t recommend relying on guest posting, guest blogging sites, or guest blogging SEO as a linkbuilding strategy.

If you are guest blogging for links, I would suggest reading Cyrus Shepard's The Rules of Link Building here on the Moz Blog. He states that you should never ask for the anchor text, and I agree. Worry more about the quality of the content and less about the link.

Hey Wayne,
Again there is no rule for it but the censorship and keeping the article quality alive is in your hand. I have seen articles that contain 5 links in total and still contain the quality on the other hand there are articles where 2 links does not make sense.
You said 5 link all going to one money making site, this sounds fishy to me!
Hope this helps!

You are doing guest blogging for the links? Then just 1 will do it to get you penalized. Forget about guest blogging for links, instead, create great content and promote it trying to get a natural link.
If you are doing guest blogging, don't do it for the links. If in one article you write it happens you have an excellent article to link to in one of your properties then link to it. But do NOT write so you can insert a link.

Depends on the extent , but I never use more than two links per article. As much a link with the anchor of the keyword and the other "brand link". Greetings !

I use maximum 2-3 links if the post is about 500 words, but i think it is depending on the amount of the text

There is so many articles online talking about this topic. A blog should contain under 6 links which under 4 is the most desired. is not the quantity is the quality of the links. A resource i found is below:

Does the twitter link shortening service reduce link value (strength).
We have many SEO team members that use Twitters link shortening service, will this reduce the strength or value of the page to be indexed? I ask this cause the displayed URL isn't the actual page it is going to and would like to make appropriate changes to improve our company's SEO For example: http://t.co/zHu8vIcjPx is going to page http://4wheelonline.com/atv/QuadBoss.107503 Thank you for your assistance.

Why aren't my blog links counting?
In our blog posts, we frequently include links to our product pages on our official site. However, the blog root domain is not showing up on Open Site Explorer for any of these product pages. In other words, why isn't Google counting our blog as a unique root domain? If it helps, here is the link to the blog: http://jampaper.wordpress.com/ Thanks for your help!

Internal linking question
How important is internal linking from body content? If you have 500 words of content on each page is it good practise to try and get a few links in to other pages? Surely if you do this your pass more juice out of the page, which might lead to devaluing the page in the SE's.

Guest Blogging
I am looking to get into guest blogging for our retail brick-and-mortar store to increase more local search traffic. 1. Any local SEO recommendations/tips you have? 2. Can you post the same article in multiple places? Or is this a huge no-no? 3. For local search, should we focus on article directories or guest blogs? Thanks in advance for your feedback, and sorry that it's a three-parter! 🙂

Should Penguin makes me question all reciprical links, even relevant ones?
Prior to Penguin, I had begun a link building campaign of sorts for a tourism bureau. All it was designed to do was leverage a wealth of relevant link opportunities that were right under our noses...the bureau's own members. These restaurants, hotels, attractions, etc are extremely relevant web sites with respect to the tourism bureau's target and niche. The links were to be in the form of image badges stating "Proud member of..." with brand-only alt text and title tags. I will focus on keeping these links a reasonable percentage of the overall domains linking into the site, I will vary the alt text throughout, and cultivate the links slowly over a 5-month period. But since the bureau's site already drives traffic to these individual member sites, the links we cultivate will end up being reciprocal. Even though they are natural in the purpose they serve, should we be worried, and consider abandoning the program?

Too many links in my blog post created by comments. Should I worry?
Every year, we do a popular "Favourite pictures of the year" contest where people vote on the best picture (i.e: their mate's) in order to win something. But I just found that I'm going way over the "Too many links" limit and I think it's because of all the comments. 1. Is it a problem 2. Is there a way to de-activate the links? Thank you! 🙂 Ioan
