How do I identify spamming links in Google eyes?
-
Hi
How do I tell which links are spammy to get them removed. Is there a piece of software which I can upload our incoming links to and it will identify which ones are spam???

I have found that most webmasters have a really hard time objectively deciding which links are spam.
If you have received an unnatural links message than an unnatural link is any link that you, or your SEO created.
You don't need to worry about any nofollowed links.
Almost all keyword anchor texted links are unnatural. I also call the following unnatural:
-links from article sites
-followed blog comments using anchor text
-most directory links (think - would I make this link if search engines didn't exist?)
-followed forum sigs or links from forum posts
-followed bookmarks
-most blogroll links
The only truly natural links are ones where the other webmaster was the one who decided to link to you.

Also, links that have been reported and reviewed by Google:

Nofollow links with high spam score
Hi All, Is it worth setting co-operation with website that has incoming links with spam score 96% despite the fact they're mostly nofollow? From my understanding there's still connection set between websites bit no negative impact on my SEO profile. Am I right? Thanks for all opinions.

Reciprocal links now cancel out any benefit say Google. But what about if one of them is nofollow?
As a web agency we have some of our client sites linking back to us from their footer to show who built the site as is common practice in our industry. This seems to work fine for us generating both referral traffic and we think some help with rankings. Google recently said that reciprocal links do cancel each other out of any benefit which gives us a dilemma for when we want to link to a website as a case study on our own website. Normally we use nofollow on the link but is that enough? I'd rather have the inbound link benefit than provide a link to the website!

Internal Links - How to Increase them, Categories not being considered as Internal Links
Hi All: As per my understanding, Internal Equity Passing Links is a metric defining PA. Now my website has around 65 internal links while few of my competitors have more than 180 links. I am unable to understand how to increase the internal links passing equity on my website, because I can see, more number of links on my website than my competitors but opensiteexplorer does not show that. I am really confused. Please help out if anyone knows something about this issue. Thanks in advance.

Link building during link removal
We were advised by out outsourced link removal vendor not to build any links while they are removing links pointing to our site. I am worried that our site will lose significant traffic if we dont build any new links while waiting for them to remove links that caused our site to be penalized. What are your thoughts?

Are Links/Resources pages considered spam?
I'm dabbling with link building in a non link-happy industry, traffic safety (IE Traffic cones, barricades, safety vests, etc...). We currently are doing #RCS in terms of giveaways for college students as well as discounts in a wider EDU Outreach campaign as well as legitimate guest posting. I have started to use Link Prospector, and got a list of links/resources pages that we can get info from. I found some great links through here, including ways to get links from higher-profile .gov domains, but was wondering if it is worth it to go after the high(er) quality links/resources pages. By higher quality, I usually set a floor of a DA 25-30 and have a limited amount of external links per page. These would be for branded keywords (IE the company name/domain) and not exact match anchor text. I'd really like to see how other SEOs feel about this.
