Next Gen Gallery Crawler Problem
-
I use the Next gen gallery plugin on my wordpress sites.
The moz crawler reports a ton of high importance issues with this plugin because it creates duplicate pages
It will have domain.com/page, domain.com/page/gallery, domain.com/page/gallery/1/, domain.com/page/gallery/2/
This is a pretty popular plugin so I am hoping there is some way of fixing this relatively easy. I can imagine i need to set up a rel canonical but there does not seem to be an easy way to do so.
Thoughts?

Ill look again. Thanks so much for the help

You may want to double check that. I'm not a Yoast specialist, per se, but I've never had that plugin not solve this type of problem. And from what you've described, I'm sure Yoast can help with that. It's a little complex, maybe take a second look-through with a developer.

Already tried that plugin and it did not have this functionality.

Download the Yoast SEO plugin. It'll help you solve nearly all problems. Hands down the best WP plugin for SEO.

I understand that. My problem is trying to implement it within the plugin that I did not develop. Since it is a vastly popular plugin I was more so looking to see if anybody knows of how to do so already. It does not give me access to "page 1 gallery" "page 2 gallery" for me to put a rel canonical in place
-
Yes, if /page/gallery/1/, /page/gallery/2/ are exact duplicates just place a canonical tag on the /page/gallery (and the duplicates) referencing /page/gallery.
Another recommendation to avoid duplicate/confusion by search engines: apply rel="next" and rel="prev" to the series of gallery pages. Once you get enough images, I'm guessing the URL structure will become /page/gallery/page_2, 3, 4, etc. (or something like that).
The next/prev elements let the search engine know they are a series of a type of content (in this case, images) and are associated.
That type of content can be real headaches for us SEOs! Good luck.

Having possible problems with rankings due to development website
Hi all, I've got an interesting issue and a bit of a technical challenge for you. It's a bit complicated to explain, but please bear with me. We have a client website (http://clientwebsite.com) which we are having a hard time ranking in the past few months. Main keywords simply don't show up in Top100 searches, even though we are constantly building backlinks through Guest Posts, Citations, Media mentions, Profile links etc. Normally, we use ahrefs to look at the client's website backlinks, but just today we used Majestic to look at the backlink profile and one backlink stood out. This is a backlink from a development server (http://developmentwebsite.com) which redirects to http://clientwebsite.com

The developers who were working on the redesign of the client website, put it up on their server and forgot to delete it.
Also, the content inside the development website is almost identical with the client website. We then checked to see if http://developmentwebsite.com is indexed.
It's not. Although, inside the robots file http://developmentwebsite.com/robots.txt there's:
User-agent: *
Allow: /
The funny (and weird thing) is that http://developmentwebsite.com/ and all development website inner pages are not indexed in Google. But if we go to http://developmentwebsite.com/inner-page, it doesn't redirect to the corresponding http://clientwebsite.com/inner-page, it's the same development website page URL and the pages even have links to the client website, but like I said, none of the pages of the development website are indexed, even though crawlers are allowed in the robots.txt's development website. In your opinion, could this be the reason why we are having a hard time to rank the client website? Second question is:
How do we approach in solving this issue?
Do we simply delete the whole http://developmentwebsite.com with all the inner pages?
Or should we do 301 redirrects on a per-page basis?0 -
Too many redirects Homepage Problem
During a site move, a sub domain of website a redirected all pages to the homepage of website b. resulting a homepage algorithmic penalty for website b. The sub domain was deleted - and the sitemove for the main domain went through ok. However website b has 80,000 incoming links from the sub domain of website a. is there anything else that needs to be done to "inform" google that the mistake was fixed?

Pages with rel "next"/"prev" still crawling as duplicate?
Howdy! I have a site that is crawling as "duplicate content pages" that is really just pagination. The rel next/prev is in place and done correctly but Roger Bot and Google are both showing duplicated content + duplicate page titles & meta's respectively. The only thing I can think of is we have a canonical pointing back at the URL you are on - we do not have a view all option right now and would not feel comfortable recommending it given the speed implications and size of their catalog. Any experience, recommendations here? Something to be worried about? /collections/all?page=15"/>

Is it a problem if a URL has too many backslashes in its address?
The ecommerce platform of the site that I am working on generates URLs that contain ID Codes for each different product category, color variations, styles, etc. An example of a URL for a specific product includes: www.example.com/women/denim-jeans/py/c/109/np/108/p/3834.html Is it a problem for search engine crawlers if the URL address has so many backslashes in its address? Appreciate your feedback.

Optimization for an Car Image Gallery Site
I have a site where I feature several car images and the details/press releases about those cars. So normal layout would be an article page consisting of the following: Article Text Image gallery list laid out for user to browse. Now, when a user clicks on the image, the link opens up in another page with the image as a main content and then other image belonging to same article are shown below to browse. Each of such pages with images from same article are linked to one another with 'rel'=prev/next and has a 'rel' canonical to the page with article text. Am I doing this right to prevent thin content and duplication issue? Each of the images are for same car and are related to one another. The site under question is DieselStation. Also, if you can provide a general feedback on the site's layout and architecture in terms of SEO, that would be great.
